That was a beautiful pass, extraordinary really. Wish he was a younger player

It doesn't change the big picture for Eriksen but that moment of quality for the goal that put Amad in to put us ahead...

He was the key to our good run in ETH's first season until Andy fkin Caroll injured him. We really need a player like him in midfield.

What a stunning pass. This is exactly why I've been emphasising the need for a true playmaker in our midfield. We have Ugarte, a fantastic ball winner, and Mainoo, who excels as a ball carrier, but neither is a natural playmaker. Eriksen is the best we have in that role, but his legs are gone. Once again, as I've pointed out in previous seasons, securing a ball-playing midfielder this summer is absolutely crucial.

Class player, shame we didn't get him when he was younger.

Great assist and great decision to bring Eriksen on. And he could have this kind of impact again this season with plenty of games coming up in 3 different competitions.

Was worried about him coming on fearing we would get overrun/hit on the counter but that pass was class. Been a good squad player for us but we need to move on from him in the summer.

Could he play as a 10 if Ugarte and Collyer are behind him?

Yes. Isn’t that basically what Denmark do?

Surround Eriksen with runners and he’ll do well because he’s one of, if not the best in the squad at finding passes.

He doesn’t have the legs to play deep in the midfield 2 anymore. I wouldn’t start Eriksen but id far rather him come on to try and influence a game than the likes of Antony.

Bruno is a great passer but not like that. Eriksen is just so deft in tight spaces around the penalty box.

I don’t know who could be available this summer that could bring an Eriksen’s style of elite passing in tight quarters AND a great engine. If there is someone, they’re probably the 2nd most important position to fill (after LWB).

Great player but think he doesn't fit the premier league anymore where work-rate, athleteism and press are so paramount.

Beautiful dink for the assist. Played well generally, I had him on from the start. What a stylish operator.

Instead of Bruno?

Wouldn't work imo, his mobility is very limited, and we don't really have many runners to utilize his passing. Should be used like he was used today till the end of the season, no way he starts games. Absolutely brilliant assist today and a very tidy game otherwise.

Our only CM that can play make (Bruno is categorically not a central midfielder even if he “does a job”). Unfortunately lacks the physicality for the role.

Another sign of our dysfunction is recognizing we’ve needed a player like him (creative CM) for a while but signing only him (post op, lost legs, nearing 30) because he was free.

Spot on, we need that type of player with split vision that can deliver passes like this game after game after game..... AND...as the size of this clup, we should have TWO players like this...we have had none for years now....

He doesn’t have the legs to play deep in the midfield 2 anymore.
I keep reading this sentiment - particularly with regards to Mainoo - and it just doesn't ring true. Unless you are talking about giving Eriksen (or Mainoo) a role free from defensive responsibility, there is typically no greater requirement for running power in deeper midfield as opposed to more advanced areas.

There are many more examples of physically unremarkable players operating in deeper midfield, or older, physically-declined midfielders moving deeper, as opposed to being used in more advanced areas. Eriksen is one such example - he played between the lines when he was younger and started being used deeper in midfield in his last couple of years at Spurs when his legs went and he no longer offered enough as an attacking midfielder, but became an asset for them in a deeper position.

None of your players have that kind of intelligent passing options like him. Where he plays quicker others are taking thousands touches.

That pass pretty much won us the game..well that pass and Amad actually having a strikers instinct. That one - two between the two was a thing of beauty.

He's a really good player and seems to have arguably the most intelligence and creativity of anyone in our squad, so his lack of legs becomes even more frustrating.

I wish there was a way to get him into the team more consistently but in this system I'm not seeing where that would be. There's a small part of me that would like to see him in the #9 role similar to how City utilised Gundogan, but our build up just isn't developed enough for that.

Lovely pass that. Not the same execution but reminded me a little of when he put Rashford in right at the end of the Liverpool cup tie last season, in that despite the chaos around him he can still spot a decisive pass and has the ability to execute it.

Could still have one or two useful cameos like that between now and the end of his contract in the summer.

As much as the beauty of a pass he deserves credit for his attitude. Permanently benched with a rare cameo here and there would have many senior, former elite players down tools or at least stop caring for the team at all. This guy just waits patiently and puts in a shift when asked to. He even celebrated the goals with genuine excitement and joy and seemed to be so happy for Amad.

I do. He’s running the show for Brentford atm.

That pass was Scholes like, reading the game 2 seconds ahead of everyone else on the pitch, great to see.

Damsgaard? Is he really a like-for-like replacement for Eriksen in terms of technical ability and vision? And I would be concerned about his injury record...

Still think he is handy player to have for another season as a sub and in minor games even as a 10

4 goals and 4 assists in 18 games (a few of those being as a sub) isn't a bad return.

Easy to forget he was one of our better players at the beginning of the season - I still think he has something to offer in key moments, just never as a CM next to Casemiro!

Injuries aside I think he could become a better, more complete player. He is technically very good, has great vision, a sublime pass and, contrary to Eriksens, his pressing is a huge asset as well. He also works extremely hard.
His development was halted for at least two years due to injuries and arthritis, but it seems he is back at 100 % now. Of course a chronic disease always comes with risk, but nothing suggests that he’s bothered by it anymore.

Would it be crazy to start him at #10 in one of the upcoming Europa League games? Maybe the home game vs. Rangers. We lose some pressing, but his creativity and ball retention abilities might make up for it.

The problem is that Amorim does not use a traditional 2 man midfield system, in his system BOTH CMs need to be runners. B2B type. Usually it's a combination of someone more defensive and someone more progressive (Passing/Carrying). However, both will find themselves higher up the pitch contributing in attack and even being defensively disciplined breaking up the play. The main characteristic being running with the other traits following that.

Unfortunately Eriksen really lacks in the former trait right now. However, he should still be able to play to a decently level along with Ugarte (Or someone who can compensate for his lack of running) in games where we excel in terms of possession and dominance.

Was so great at Ajax, just below Suarez level. Was the talisman for years and years. Still a player in there in the right circumstance, but we need to find a replacement for him next summer. There are very few cm's it seems that are very natural playmakers and creators. There are good CDM's, and good CAM's, but a versatile CM with engine, playmaking ability, ball carrying seem so rare.

His injury history alone is to much of a risk in my opinion and he also has spells where he completely disappears out of games.
