Chido Obi

I get the calls for integration into the first team but aren't we all missing a vital point with Amorim taking over?

Since he has come in Amorim has constantly stated/complained about lack of prep/training time.

How does he integrate a young player into the team if he hasn't got time to prepare the first team players he actually currently has?
That may come over the coming weeks. We've avoided the playoff round for the Europa League, so our fixtures are currently:

07/02 - Leicester (H)
[8 days]
16/02 - Spurs (A)
[5 days]
22/02 - Everton (A)
26/02 - Ipswich (H)
[7 days]*
06/03 - Europa League
09/03 - Arsenal (H)

*This is subject to if we beat Leicester, as 01/03 weekend is FA Cup 5th Round and we will also play our Europa League Round of 16 tie on 06/03 regardless as far as I'm aware.

We definitely have to make the most of this training time, we won't be getting much more if we stay in the FA Cup & Europa League for a while. I'm aware that the amount of days between games doesn't all represent training as they'll be recovery days, prep days etc but I think bar the recovery day straight after a game you can be doing video/tactical/theory work etc.

Amorim has to go all-in on Hojlund and potentially bring in Obi if he's the most promising, because we must start scoring.

I hope so. And hopefully more than just Chido gets a look in.

I could be totally wrong obviously and maybe there is a plan for Chido and now isn't it.

It just struck me that a manager has a squad and has consistently said we have no time to train, then pushes that message at every opportunity yet us fans are asking about players being integrated who aren't part of that first team squad.

The obvious answer for me is he hasn't had/got the time.

Done with Hojlund, really hope we see something from club to suggest he's in the thoughts for Leicester, otherwise think I will switch off apart from Europa League/FA Cup

It's time to put him on the bench, at the beginning of the season he was definitely too raw and I didn't think he'd be ready but his progression in the last 2-3 months has really surprised me,

His all-round play is looking really strong now, what surprised me the most has been how good he has been as an outlet; he can hold it up, turn and carry and make chances for himself whilst also being a decent passer. I think he'd offer us more than Hojlund and Zirkzee both in hold up play and in actual output.

Another young player to shoulder the burden of all United's problems, what could possibly go wrong? Can't wait til May when everyone's clamoring for this fella to be sold too because he hasn't scored 15 goals and single handedly fixed a broken team.

He might relish this step up, unfortunately I suspect Ruben won't have the balls to bring him in now

He'll be desperate for a call up to the first team squad. Don't buy in to this gentle introduction business. If he's good enough he's old enough.

I despair that this thread is riding so high on the forum.
Hojlund shouldn’t be the main guy at his age, bringing in a youth player isn’t the answer. Have some patience.

So INEOS were right not to buy/loan anyone by your comments on here but we also shouldn't promote the only decent youth project we have? What is it you suggest? Going on like we have surely cannot be the solution

So he’s 17 which is v young but if he’s good enough he’s old enough surely?

Rooney was 16 getting into the first team at Everton and Yamal was 17.

Not ideal to throw him in but at least give the lad some minutes? It’s part of his development surely .

I was thinking that as well.

And also adding that Hojlund shouldn't be the main guy either. So if not Hojlund, Obi-Martin, or anyone being signed - who does that leave? Zirkzee? Mainoo again?

I hope most of the people posting in here are active reserve team watchers?

Otherwise you are just commenting out of desperation for a few goals.

Exactly

I haven’t said that.

We are having a pretty awful season. It’s not conducive to kids coming into the team and doing well. We run the risk of ruining him before he’s even begun!

He’s better off where he is for the time being , our players rarely pass to our strikers anyway.

Where does he play up front? Because all we have up front for 17 more games (minimum) is Hojlund, Zirkzee, Amad, Garnacho.

Any injury or suspension and he's in the squad I presume?

but if he’s good enough he’s old enough surely?

That's it though, he is not good enough, its not about his age.

I have watched him a fair bit and he is raw, he is not remotely ready yet, he is a highly talented prospect, but he is not good enough to be in the first team squad yet.

He's not in the first team probably because he isn't good enough. I think we have to trust the coaches on this.

Really hope club aren't thinking he's not ready, after all was Rashford ready to step up in 2016

There is no way we can continue with switching from Hojlund to Zirkzee and then back again whilst neither score any goals, so unless there's anyone else he has to be worth a try.

my bet is that he'll get his chance. it'll be up to him to prove he's good enough at the higher level.

Yeah surely yesterday was telling, mind you Ruben probably thought that would get him player

I would have him on the bench for the Leicester game, if we can we should try to get him minutes wherever possible.
Surely in our current situation the cup games are more important that the league games?

He's good, but he's not ready. Not even near ready. Seen so many youth strikers at United from Webber, Ebanks-Blake, Fraizer Campbell, Keane, Wilson, McNeil, Hugill to name a few. The question you have to ask is whether he is delivering on their level yet? I think we need to be patient with the lad. People develop at their own pace. Let the lad be. If/when he's ready, he'll get a chance.

Yeah we could afford to do that if we had people actually capable of scoring goals, sadly we are lumbered with two muppets who are terrible
