Especially with Giroud against us, Bailly's weakness in the air could really cost us. Jones isn't great in that regard either, but he's still comfortably our second best behind Smalling.

None of Smalling or Jones is better than Bailly. Abort such horrid thoughts, it’s not worth conceiving.

Your second paragraph makes more sense in that Bailly is not as good in the air as both plodders. However, Bailly is overall better than both combined.

He’s very consistent, works and presses relentlessly, adheres to Mourinho’s tactical desires, and has a tremendous big game record. Especially at Wembley. Vs Mata, who’s very decent technically, but is also very slow and doesn’t have the same work rate. Still offers something different off the bench. Then there’s Martial who Mourinho obviously doesn’t fancy much, and who has been very, very inconsistent. Also has a questionable attitude.
