Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

No. Not in 2003 and not till say 2011-12. But that's the thing with plans/intentions they change with time.

When he bought Chelsea, it was worth a measly 1% of his vast fortune. Now though, its worth 20% on his slightly limited net-worth. Any reasonable person will start to think of that 20% as an asset rather than just a hobby. Its the way people work from the poorest to the richest.

Jose once mentioned that he binge watches football from all leagues over the entire weekend anyways. So I wouldn't read too much into him being in the stands regularly.

Could that be in part due to Chelsea's value as a club increasing over the rate of inflation over the years?

Both. His net worth went down from £25bn to £9bn largely due to fall in RUR but also the shitstorm in Russian economy in general. Chelsea's value has increased from £250m since his purchase to nearly £1.5bn+ today. Safe to say the Russian economy is going to slide further and further due to the ever increasing sanctions.

If we're talking only about ownership of Chelsea FC, then Abramovich is surely one of the better owners out there. From the outside looking in, I'd say his only achilles heel is that he's a bit too trigger happy. However, in mitigation he's clearly passionate about the club and feels the hurt of every defeat like any proper Chelsea fan would. I doubt very much that Kroenke gets anything like as upset whenever Arsenal lose a game and is probably far more arsed about the impact on the value of the club's shares rather than the defeat itself. Now I'd implore all passionate fans of their clubs on here to put yourselves in Abramovich's shoes and imagine you've invested a fair chunk of your fortune in buying your club. As much as it's the right thing to do not to interfere in the playing side of things, as both a loyal fan and an owner I reckon it would be nigh on impossible for any of us to completely keep our noses out of the footballing side of things, especially if the team was going through a bad patch.

Looking more like Conte is actually a complete clown incapable of respect, love it.

Yeah I love the character assassination of Mou by fans and the media while rimming Conte last season. I think its becoming more evident that Conte isn't some football genius but rather an arrogant disrespectful man who won a league title with a Mourinho side that only had to play once a week.

Knee-jerk much? I don't think Conte is any better or worse than many managers who have bad relationships with some players. There are always other players who like them.

Journalists like to exaggerate and its' clear that a small rift has been blown out of proportion in the media to make Conte look like a sulky child. I think Chelsea will improve on the pitch when they get back their key players (though I wouldn't back them to finish in the top 2), and this media trial will probably stop then.

Nah I really don't think it is. Seems like he's very rash and disrespectful to people he perceives as not useful to him. This Costa situation is a complete joke and wouldn't happen at any other club. It's been handled by all involved in the worst way possible. Sending a text to tell the player he isn't in your plans instead of just telling him to his face? Come on that is absurd. Yes Costa has wanted to leave and has probably most likely been a pain in the ass but there's different ways to deal with it. They could have sold him last summer or in January if he was such a hassle, now they are stuck in a complete mess with him.

Smelly feet maybe? He also has bad breath and eats children, you are being warned.

This is not the first time this has happened with managers at chelsea, when Jose Mourinho had a catastrophic season 2 years ago at chelsea, they questioned, has Jose lost the touch? what we seeing is a pattern with this set of players, they win the PL, next season the manager is getting thrown under the bus. Is it conte? is it the board? a PL title winning team not getting any business done, with a terrible result, which is a pattern of Jose's third season at united

I would wait to see who we sign before the window closes before saying Conte had been thrown under the bus. If we get decent singings we should be challenging for the league based on what we have bought already.

I never questioned Jose's abilities even after his disastrous Chelsea season. Fully wanted him to manage United. Similarly, I don't think Conte is the main problem here. Its' a combination of player power, Emenalo and Granovskaia. Don't think Chelsea will ever change in that respect.

Besides, the point I was making is that, it is not possible to say Conte is on course to have a terrible season when he has just lost one game and that too without having several key players available. He may well go on to have a meltdown, but it is not exactly at boiling point now. The whole media circus seems unnecessary.

It seems more a preventive character assassination of the rival aimed at defending the own convicted bully master. Small time, really.

I meant a few questioned is it Mourinho? typed it in wrong. That defeat last week is very much similar to some of the defeats that happened under Mourinho, their squad is thread bare, but we will see if they do pick it up

It could be Juve again, mixed feelings tbh, the man didn't change much since last time together.

From what I've gathered, he was pretty difficult to deal with in Italy, at Juve?

Also, can you please translate this for me? :) Or sum it up a bit. Except the restaurant part, that I already know, hehe.

lolz that videoclip  ... Gli Autogol (The Own Goals) are a young comedy group focused on juve, here they make a parody of rivalries and supposed inner thoughts of Serie A main characters  Conte lauds himself a looot (Antonio Conte is a phenomenon) because he won abroad and fans love him widely but then comes Allegri telling he is the real phenomenon because of his CL results... so Conte sings he may come back to Inter to smack Juve and prove he is the real real phenomenon instead (with Chiellini knowing it well: yes mister, yes mister), Thohir luring him with millions of millions  only for Moratti warning Conte he will be a real phenomenon if he wins with Nagato-menon :lol: the video ends with Conte self-paroding himself at Chelsea staff party: it has been a freeezing season ("agghiacciante", as he himself said when accused of ignoring match-fixing at Bari and then become a term to tease him).

Not sure if this is posted.

I'm not sure if Mikel is the most reliable source of information for things like this. This is the player who signed for a club then tried to pretend he hadn't by basically kidnapping himself, and who managed to convince himself that a referee had racially abused him and decided the best way of dealing with that was to try and beat the referee up.

He doesn't exactly seem like the type to give a rational account of events.

Nah it wasn't quite the same for me. I remember Chelsea on the opening day of Jose's last season there, and they were genuinely awful. They were thoroughly outplayed by Swansea at home and escaped with a draw. A number of their players looked embarrassingly out of sorts and Jose managed to kick up a major storm by insulting his own medical team and admitting he wanted Hazard to cheat.

Saturday they had a silly red card and then seemed to just lose their heads until half time. The performance before that and in the second half wasn't that bad, and apart from the red cards/bans there isn't really a lingering shit storm or consequence. Conte's comments after the game pretty much reflected what happened during it. Most of the nonsense (Costa aside) seems to have just been cooked up by the media, which you'd expect after a really poor result.

It does put a lot more pressure on them though, and it's Spurs away next, so not an ideal situation.

You cant help but feel Conte has been made to look a complete cock in the Costa saga. He was almost gloating when he text Costa telling him not to bother coming back and now after a awful summer they actually need him. It's a complete lack of management from top to bottom.

For what it's worth I think Costa is a complete clown, I wouldnt want him around my squad either but in this instance after my manager told me to feck off I probably wouldn't come back either.

Surely no one can be this naïve. Its obviously just talk by Chelsea so they can keep fining him his wages till the transfer.

Some nonsense statement by Costa (again). Yet to hand in a transfer request yet considering legal sanctions against Chelsea because ''he must return to Atletico''.

Being a real tit even for his self interest here. Should just turn up to training and go through the motions to keep getting paid. It would have been different if he had just one year left on his contract but as of now Chelsea hold way too much power in this case given this is a world cup year and he still has two years left on his deal.

Surely a bit hyperbolic? Conte might be a bit of a dick, but he'd hardly be the first temperamental top manager to treat players/staff poorly. The likes of Fergie, Mourinho, Guardiola, Simeone and a ton of other big managers going back have pretty much all had incidents in which they've come out looking poorly.

No not hyperbolic, Conte is literally the worst man to have ever lived.

Seriously though. I think he is a bit arrogant and he had a huge benefit from only playing once a week with a team that Mourinho built which won the league only 2 seasons before and was capable of doing it again under Mourinho had the whole thing not gone to shit. I think he has been disrespectful to Costa by dumping by text and maybe even to Matic too, moreover saying he doesn't want to have a Mourinho season was just a cheap jibe that probably wasn't warranted.

This is total nonsense. Mourinho was building a team around Oscar and Fabregas as the key ingredients and the first thing Conte did was cleanse the starting 11 of that ideology and those players. Mourinho could never in a million years make David Luiz play like he did last season. Then there is Moses who if put on the field under Mourinho would give him nosebleeds.

As for being arrogant, it is a good thing. In football management you are either Arrogant or unsuccessful so its not a big issue for most fans.

Hitler, Kim Jong Il, Bin Laden, Stalin, Genkis Khan and .. ...... .Conte..... . .... .. . Feck sake mate.

A bloke on Talksport a minute ago made a great point about the Costa situation. He said everyone slagged off Winston Bogarde when he honoured his contract to the last day. It's a fair point, everyone criticised Bogarde for doing exactly what they're saying Costa should do.

Looks like he's losing the plot already.

Nutter. Overdid it with the fake laughter just a bit.

I think it's the case of you wanting to see something that isn't there. Fake laughter? I saw him laugh before, there's nothing fake about it.

Awesome. Glad he isn't taking this costa thing too seriously either.

Good news is Baka might be ready this weekend Pedro might be back fit and Hazard probably will be next week. Conte also spoke highly of Christensen which is good to hear.
