We already have four world class players in our team - how many do Arsenal have?

Who are they, and how did they go helping you in the league last season?

How many do Liverpool have? All of one, and look at them last season.

One of them helped us win the league the season before and I think you know who he is. One shit season under a clueless manager doesn't mean that we don't have any world class players left. You'd have to be an absolute idiot to think that.

I don't think that. My point was Liverpool not having 4 didn't stop them overtaking United - and several other teams.

Yeah Spurs and Everton too. It was an embarrassing season, under a manager that should never have been even considered for the job. I hope that you enjoyed it, because you won't see a repeat of it next season.

Arsenal fans are getting called arrogant in this thread when there are posts like this?
Looks like I ruffled a few feathers. Your lot in here spouting bollocks in the hope that we stay shit. It's understandable in a way because you will be at risk of dropping out of the top 4. Reeks of desperation more than expectation.

Yeah that's what it is.

Yes. Look at pete's and al's posts. One bad, moyesified season and you all seem convinced that Arsenal are soooo much better than United that we shouldn't even dream of catching the mighty Gooners, probably ever again. After all, they finished fourth for the 346228th time, who would dare to even dream about rivalling such consistent brilliance?

Another idiot post. Why are you quoting me just to prove my point?

Why does two posters suddenly represent every single Arsenal fan's opinion?

Who said anything about ever catching Arsenal again? What are you even on about fella?

al and pete pretty much said it's impossible for us to get back into top four. Or at least highly unlikely. Which means we're highly unlikely to catch the most vulnerable teams of the top four; those are Liverpool because they clearly overachieved last season and Arsenal who finished fourth and therefore, by definition, are closest to dropping out of the top four.

I'm not sure what isn't clear here for you. Arsenal fans on this board act highly arrogant and smug despite not being any better or worse than at any time during the last 5-6 seasons. Liverpool fans, led by Barney, are pretty much the same.

We told you Moyes was shit last year as well and you weren't having it
Bullshit. Some of us didn't want Moyes to be appointed in the first place.

I never lost faith in this team last season and I won't now. Especially if we strengthen adequately in key positions. I don't believe we need a full overhaul of world class players on the scale suggested by some either. It's Moyes I didn't believe in. This team was capable of achieving at least top 4 last season.

The doom and gloom is exaggerated and opposition fans seem to be praying we stay shit (understandably) but it's more out of hope than expectation.

Liverpool need serious investment in their squad otherwise they'll struggle with the quantity of games. Arsenal will be fine, easily top 4.

Can we get back to Cesc please?

Ref cesc
im surprised city have not been linked more strongly
he can play cm or am like toure and with fernandinho behind them that seems like a solid midfield plus from his time at arsenal he would count as a homegrown player. There are ex barca people in the city heirachy and enough ex arsenal and spanish players that its easy to imagine him settling quickly.

For me that is the key thing.

I'm confident that we will get back in the top 4 and challenge, however I can see where other rival fans are coming from though. It all depends who we sign, last year we were told all summer that we were going to get some world class players and we didn't - until that happens I will reserve a little bit of judgement. I got my hopes up so many times throughout the season last year - so many turning points that all fell on their arse, so I still I'm a tiny bit sceptical how we can turn this round so quickly.

LvG will be a massive boost, but again we still are a little bit in the unknown, it seems like last year all our transfer plans are up in the air as both managers want different players and different have lists.

Not sure why the title of this thread declare we are still interested in Cesc, everything I have read is saying we don't want him?!

Not every season. This season if we get Cesc back and buy a top striker.
Surely you'd want to steer clear of Cesc? I just don't see how you'd be able to fit Ramsey, Ozil and Cesc in a side that isn't marginalising the talents of at least one of those players. Buying Cesc might even get Wenger/the club an excuse not to spend big on a striker. :p

Can't have too many world class players. Cazorla or Rosicky may suffer.

How would you imagine you'll line up if you sign Cesc?

Ramsey Cesc
Theo Ozil Cazorla?

Good offensively, weak defensively. Cesc just isn't what you need at all.

Wilshere Ramsey
Cesc Ozil
Walcott Benzema

This is why I don't think we need necessarily concern ourselves about going out and finding a load of world class players to stuff the team with (which is lucky because it looks unlikely we'll be getting any). For the likes of Shaw, Herrera, Rakitic, Strootman, Cuadrado, Firmino etc our lack of Champions League football might not be considered a terminal drawback, but they'd significantly improve the side, and possibly give us a reasonable shot at getting 4th place. Obviously even that calibre of player will not be a cinch to acquire, and even with them on board, a top 4 finish would be far from guaranteed, but the lack of Reus, Kroos, Cesc, Hummels etc arriving does not have to mean another season of doom in my view.

Re Cesc, I imagine Luis Enrique will convince him he's central to his future plans, given that Xavi's legs look to have gone, and MLS is beckoning.

It was more like the legover formation when City used it against us.
Yeah, we had problems with a Christmas tree formation at times this season: ultimately all it did was give people gifts and leave a massive mess for the parents to clean up.
