Chelsea 2024/25

Champions league would definitely be enough.

I don't really give a feck about the conference league.
I don't particularly care about the Conference League but it would be a disgrace if we didn't win it. If we get knocked out before the final and top 5 becomes unfeasible then I wouldn't mind him being sacked.
Yeah Conference League is so easy that I could even see current United winning it. Maybe Fiorentina or Betis could give you a game in the final and it's one game so you never know. Unfortunately for Fiorentina good chances they could be losing 3rd final in a row in this competition.

What's the opinion on Maresca now?

It feels like he's now doing what everyone expected at the start of the season. Was that good start a false dawn and mainly down to Palmer being in excellent form (who also seems to have nosedived)?

He’s in a sticky situation but I’m not getting on his back just yet. I think finishing outside the top 5 would be unacceptable. If he manages 5th and squeezes into the CL, then I guess he’s met the objectives indirectly. A lot of fans are getting on his back though, but we’re not really a fanbase known for exercising patience and persevering through a sticky period.

James

Livarmento

Loftus Cheek

Maatsen

Abraham
Solanke

I must be missing some because that team definitely isn't getting top 4.

Depends how technical you want to be as you could include players like Rice, Ake, Mount, Olise etc. Olise and Rice were at other academies too but the bulk of their academy football was at Chelsea.

Musiala, Rice, Ake, Aina, Cho, Christensen and I'm claiming Mbappe because he played for our academy twice.

Ok I'm missing a lot

That does become a pretty good team!

In their current version or at the best, because I would argue James, Mount and Loftus-Cheek could be the nucleus of a top 4 team, even without all the players you forgot to include ;)

They badly need an experienced CB.

I get their policy but for some positions you have to sign players over the age of 25 I'm afraid.

Seems they want Guehi back and he's 25 in July and been really good last two years so you'd think he'd rather stay in London than go up to Newcastle and they can offer Chalobah to Palace full time so can see that happening.

I've added the ones I forgot to the above team and that is definitely good enough to challenge for top 4.

Is there any keepers I don't know about?

It would be good to win a trophy. You haven’t won a trophy since 2021 so you should go for it.

Random post but had the displeasure of meeting the Chelsea under 21 team on a night out after they had been thrashed by City.

They were really trying to get laid by telling the girls they’re rich. Unfortunately the girls werent having it

Did you get laid?

I would very much like to beat the everlasting shite out of our medical team. Gusto goes down with an injury after minimal contact and he then spends the next 15 minutes limping and going down injured twice with the same issue. Finally took him off when he begged to be subbed, presumably after having aggravated it further by playing on for so long. What a shit show.

How much do you want for Disasi?

I didn't rate him much for you guys but been really good for us since coming in bar the Brugge game and becoming a fan favourite so would be a good permanent and he's fifth choice for you.

Straight swap for Watkins should do the trick.

I’d take a Watkins straight swap  but seriously I’d take just breaking even on the fee we paid for him tbh.

How much do we need for ffp ?

A lot of our problems are tactical, psychological and environmental...

Not the players, just like Utd.

You're getting a shed load from just playing in the CWC so presume most of that is going to appease FFP requirements this summer rather than freezing out more academy products.

Disasi is also a bit older than your other CBs so I'd say 40m is a good deal for both parties.

40m seems steep to be honest. We paid €45m in the summer of 2023 and he signed a 6 year deal - so he has €30m/£25m of book value left as of this summer. (@Mb194dc)

I think we'd take £30m and it'd be reasonable for all parties. In general there seems to be a pretty cordial & collaborative relationship between Villa and Chelsea these days so I don't think we'd push for every cent.

It’s crazy to me how much freedom they have to consistently fail after spending so much money, and the press never seem to care, there’s so little pressure on the payers compared to United
if we’d spent the sums they had on players, and hovered around 5th, there would be an inquest..

Sometimes it’s just a question of finding the right club. Good luck to him if Villa sign him on a permanent deal.

I always said Disasi is a good defender. Yet our fans rate Chalobah instead.

Chalobah > Disasi easily imo.
They both are good at different things. Disasi is much better in the air and as a box defender. Chalobah is miles better as a passer and is a much better 1v1 defender, especially in wide areas.

Given that it should be relatively rare that Chelsea are under siege defending their own box, Chalobah seems a naturally better fit for the squad.

What Chelsea need badly is an experienced CB in that backline to guide them and talk through them at crucial moments in games where play becomes frantic.

Tosin is 27 but let's be honest Fulham weren't that bothered about him going as they could get in Joachim Andersen as a replacement. Beyond that it is guys under 25 and you're asking Fofana and Colwill to step up to be senior leaders.

As much as people give him stick I'd say Disasi will benefit massively from playing in same backline as Mings who is a constant talker. Konsa also been a premier league regular for us since early 2020.

Leicester weren't much threat but can this Chelsea backline hold out if you're 1-0 up at say a Newcastle or Fulham in the run in and they're getting corner after corner? The evidence of last few months suggests not.

You guys realise you're not actually negotiating for the clubs you support right?
