Champions League Semi Finals (9th - 17th May)

It's great to see the back of amateurism to football :D
Haha. I think Dzeko and Calha are among the highest earners of Serie A, but it’s great to be able to pick up so many good players as Free agents… Not the first time Marotta has managed to assemble a good enough squad on a very limited budget. He did it before with Juventus.

I enjoyed the game, but that has to be the worst semi-final in terms of quality in a very long time.

Both teams would get destroyed in the final.

It was 4th v 5th in Serie A, with AC Milan missing Leao, their best attacking player.

Anyone can win a one off final, especially if they have the correct tactics and enough fortune.

Neither is a starter though... Sael played because Leao is injured.... And Messias came on when Bennacer got injured early on. Although I am surprised he is preferred to CDK. The latter was a very promising player for Brugge and seems to have been a complete flop for Milan.

Yeah, but even the normal Milan lineup arguably has only 2 guys who clearly get into ours (Leao, Maignan) and then Theo is a good player but so is Shaw and let's say Tonali or Bennacer sneak in with Bruno moving to the right, though I think Antony will improve next year. So it's easy to see us signing a striker, keeper and midfielder and being better than these Serie A sides.

Mmmm

Maignan, Calabria, Varane/Tomori, Martinez/Tomori, Shaw/Theo, Case, Tonali, Bennacer, Bruno, Leao, Rashford

Onana, Dumfries, Varane, Bastoni, Shaw/Dimarco, Case, Brozovic/Calha, Barella, Bruno, Rashford, Lautaro

Excluding gk though, the 5 best players from either would be Varane, Case, Rashford, Bruno and Barella/Leao....

Inter's kit was beautiful without the sponsor. I wish teams didn't have one.

I think we are closer to 6-5 for United than the 9-2 you are suggesting… Similar level of the starting 11. And you can see that we are doing better domestically with higher ranking and more points in a tougher league and we’ve reached FA final… But our bench is definitely better than theirs and means we should have done far better in the EL (the inferior competition). We had to win it…

If you are making Shaw=Dimarco you have to do the same for Lisandro/Bastoni and even for Dalot & AWB on the right. They’re not inferior to Dumfries. I think we have globally the better 11, but what makes Inter a stronger team than Milan is their depth… I think Inter would be fighting for top 4 in the PL, while Milan would be lucky to make top 8. And Inter have more flexibility, Brozovic/Skriniar missing so many games didn’t impact them nearly as much as Milan whenever they missed two important player.

I wish. Madrid vs City is pretty much the final this year and it’s at Etihad so big advantage to City given they also have a much better team.
I keep reading about this but I dont get it. You could say they arguagly have a better team. But much better?
Dont think so really. And it's Madrid we're talking about, they keep getting underestimated for some reason.

Plus they do seem to have a mobile midfield. Choke midfield against City, and you win a game. City wingers are not rapid wingers and they tend to cut inside so even if you give them 5 seconds on the ball they can't outrun you the problem is City midfield if you give them 5 seconds on the ball you are dead. As Ten Hag did at OT man to man marking in the Midfield out of possession then quick transition.

Beautifully said

BBC headline "worse than AC Milans wildest dreams". That's backwards isn't it? Wildest dreams are usually a positive thing.

Sure they've got AI writing their shite now

Watched the longer highlights of last nights derby. I think either team will be eaten alive in the final, be it by City or Madrid.

Inter gonna be late because their fans are blocking the streets and the bus can't move

A CL semi-final and I can't be arsed to watch it. Says it all about how pointless it is. Just meat to chewed up and spat out for City or maybe Madrid in the final.

Leao might be starting, but Inter at 2.3 odds seems a bit fishy... are they missing players?

Nah it's just speaks of your taste, I get the idea, but football is great to watch in this instancies of major Cups no matter what...also CL has a knack for the odd result from time to time, while also this is a Derby and a Classic no matter these teams aren't among their best ever versions.

Wouldn't mind seeing either of these teams win the competition, though I imagine Lukaku's ego would be even more insufferable if he won it.

Who can give City or Real the best game and the best final?

Inter winning this one comfortably again. Squads miles better than Milan’s.

Inter that is… have the better team and more organised. Ac defence is all over the place at the min.
Inter aren't great in transition and their defence isn't good enough to hold against Madrid or City. They rely on volume of play, would need to impose themselves on the game and have periods of dominance. Against City they're dead on arrival. Against Madrid they might get a chance to play, but that leaves them open to more transitions and Madrid would slaughter them

Milan have the monster goalkeeper and are really dangerous in transition, so can play a type of game better suited to facing Madrid/City

Fair enough. Don’t watch much of the Milan’s to be fair. Just going off the first leg of their game and who has the better team. Hoping you can do a job on city tomorrow.

Inter have a better squad and are the better team, especially right now. It just doesn't matter as much as matchups when it comes to the CL final

What the feck was going on there with the Ultras? It looked like Phil Brown lecturing his Hull team. They looked like naughty schoolboys.

Same here. Watching the Championship play off semi final instead. Be good to see Amad play too.

Same. Was undecided which game to watch but the CL one is pointless. Rather watch one of our lads try and gain promotion.

Giorno is pretty much spot on with his analysis. That said, I'd say Milan has more chance against City than Inter, while Inter has more chance against Real than Milan.

Although chances that either usurps City are next to zero, while Inter could somehow get something against Real for sure.
