Champions League Round of 16 (15th Feb - 16th Mar)

Liverpool know they're through, and even if inter somehow manage to score a goal, liverpool can go up a few gears. Easy night for them.

Inter are running 2x their usual pace (after they ran 1.5x at home), which only makes for 3-0 Liverpool FT, right? :wenger:

Nope it dont. Gotta be the after affects of some many people have had a respiratory disease the last two years imo.

Covid attacks the organs + in ways in which we don’t know yet, so its scary what the long term health of the world looks to be in. I got covid when I went to watch the (postponed) brighton game and have been diagnosed with POTS since then. Thankfully it isn’t too bad and I feel better with a couple lifestyle changes.

Back to the CL, Bayern don’t even look that good and they’re up 4. Thats how you know they’re a really good team.

It was the same in last game, Inter were better team but Liverpool scored goals. Don't get your hopes up folks.

True. It's so obvious how this game is going to end up.

Is it? The impression i get is they're trying to go up those gears. Inter just aren't letting them. Was the same in the first leg too. Liverpool can struggle agsinst sides that beat their press consistently and thus don't let them impose their pace on the game

Inter will have to go for broke now. Could either turn interesting or a massacre now

Sanchez lucky to get away with that tackle.

Inter have been decent, barring any clear cut chances. Brozovic has been impressive and tidy in the middle. We could do with a player like him in our midfield.

This would be a great performance from Inter if they weren't 2-0 down. They've hardly threatened Alisson's goal whilst doing everything else well in other areas.

Jones has had a good game as has Alexander-Arnold. We've been a bit off though overall. Sloppy on the ball. Matip should've scored.

Liverpool have mastered the art of scoring when playing bad, so i wouldn't be surprised if they score 2 in the second half

We could have had him for 20M last summer when Inter were in the middle of their fire sale but we sat on our hands and the chance has gone now.

Arnold really has a shit hairstyle, those dreads just don't match his face.

No need for them to go up a few gears. They are not the team that need to score

Shame Inter don't have much quality in advanced areas. Martinez is such a beige footballer. Decent at a lot of things without excelling at anything.

Mate… I understand you are a fan… but… they have been playing cat vs mouse or men vs boys both away and tonight… mind, it’s not that Inter is vastly inferior to Liverpool… they just have not the firepower and the stamina to really trouble them… which is a pity, if you want, yet it is what it is.

Inter be as well putting Perisic through the midfield seriously lacking pace.

Barella is their only midfielder really capable of delivering the decisive pass. It is always him behind the assist or the pre-assist. They are very unlucky to have him suspended for this tie, both home and away.

I don't think that's the case. Not exactly. Tonight maybe a bit, yeah, they have a 2 goals lead and of course are sitting on that a bit. But overall, it's more a matter of liverpool needing a high pace of play to look their best and inter being good enough in build up to deny them that

First leg they looked genuinely in trouble until Firmino's goal

You’d hear a pin drop at Anfield.

Disgraceful excuse for an atmosphere.

Not that anyone will dare highlight it in the media or owt.
Yep. They’re nervous. If Inter get a goal early in the second half…

Yeah same i thought, too silent.

From what I read there was some kind of medical emergency among the crowd.
I know from Bundesliga, that if these kinds of incidents happen, sometimes the people in the crowd decide to not go on with their usual support.

Good to hear your doing better.

Bayern looks like favorites for the trophy.

I don't want to jinx it but Inter seems like a retirement home for good and great players. Decent discipline, technique and game experience but the young legs of the opposition just brush all that aside.

Dipper's will win 1 or 2 nil here imo, can't see Inter keeping this up and they'll take over when they tire. Only way that doesn't happen is if Inter get the first goal in the first 15 mins of the second half to see if they wobble.

I would definitely do that. Gosens on the left and Perisic in the midfield.
Gosens in for Calhanoglu, Dzeko for Lautaro and Perisic pushed up next to Alexis

I think it is a mixture of Liverpool not feeling the need to play at a high pace and inter making it difficult for them to play at this pace.

Which suits us OK so far.

Conte went for a Serie A title and they deservedly got one… yet this roster is only going south and Inzaghi is too nice to force a tactical gamble or a gear up with too many old legs around. They have a realistic chance to cruise to another scudetto, though, which is going to be a proper achievement for such a stretched squad.
