Champions League Round of 16 (15th Feb - 16th Mar)

First Leg:

PSG vs Real Madrid - Crushing victory for Real Madrid.
Sporting CP vs Manchester City - Crushing victory for Manchester City
Inter Milan vs Liverpool - Second most interesting match-up. Liverpool struggle, but win.
RB Salzburg vs Bayern Munich - Crushing victory for Bayern Munich.
Villarreal vs Juventus - Draw.
Chelsea vs Lille - Chelsea struggle, but win.
Atlético Madrid vs Manchester United - Atletico Madrid struggle, but win.
Benfica vs Ajax - Ajax win.

Not particularly interesting draw this time around, but at least 1/4 finals will be damn interesting.

I think we can see some upsets. Salzburg may surprise Bayern.
Sporting may get a draw.
Lille may get a draw.

I doubt over two legs these 3 top sides will fail to qualify.
Particular City I struggle to see fail. Bayern and Chelsea have worse form.

My predicted last 8:

PSG
City
Bayern
Dippers
Juventus
Utd
Chelsea
Ajax

You gotta love Klopp's nasty smile when he is reminded that Barella is not playing.

PSG vs Real Madrid 51 - 49
Sporting CP vs Manchester City 40 - 60
Inter Milan vs Liverpool 45 - 55
RB Salzburg vs Bayern Munich 30 - 70
Villarreal vs Juventus 45 - 55
Chelsea vs Lille 55 - 45
Atlético Madrid vs Manchester United 51 - 49
Benfica vs Ajax 40 - 60

I wonder how the games will be considering that now the goal away is not double.
I would be happy with a draw or losing by one, and wait to solve it at the Bernabéu, where we would have extra time at home. Benzema is not at 100%, I don't think he will last the whole game.Maybe Bale will get some minutes.
The good news is that I think Mendy is ready. I would play with 4 (Valverde) in the middle

Round of 16 first legs

15/02: Paris vs Real Madrid – Real still overall smarter than PSG
15/02: Sporting CP vs Man. City – Sporting is good but the gulf in quality is too much
16/02: Inter vs Liverpool – Inter really needs a number in San Siro to keep this alive
16/02: Salzburg vs Bayern – Same as Sporting, the gulf in quality is too much

22/02: Villarreal vs Juventus – Four disasters in a row at this stage for my Juve? Nah…
22/02: Chelsea vs LOSC – Chelsea’s possible hangover might make this tie interesting
23/02: Atlético vs Man. United – Both teams with big problems, yet Atleti have a soul, maybe
23/02: Benfica vs Ajax – not sure Ajax are favorite, yet Benfica seem more meltdown prone

It's also a bit interesting he mentions Perisic, because Klopp axed him after he complained to the press about not playing enough.

Inter’s form seems a bit indifferent recently. I think they need to win tomorrow to have a chance of getting through.

Can’t wait for the PSG Madrid game. Is Benzema still in really good form?

Does Liverpool have a croatian player? Since atleast 12/13 there has always been a croatian player in the team that was winning the CL...

I fully expect Sporting to be absolutely violated by arguably the best team in the world at the moment

I’ll take a 1-0 win please !

Haha. That's an impressive statistic. Is Stanisic on Bayern's list for the UCL?

Have seen quite a few City fan accounts on Twitter saying they're going to watch the Real Madrid game over the City game tonight. Can't get my head around it personally.

I remember watching City 0-0 Stoke while Barca 6-1 PSG was going on on the other channel. I'm sure any lifelong City fan would do the same again.

Are there any circumstances when you'd consider watching another team play instead of yours?

Hope to see a repeat performance of Pote vs Dortmund please.

Whats with the poor City bench? They got a lot of injuries?

Jesus, Grealish and Palmer are the only injuries. Walker is suspended. Don't know where Zack Steffen is, maybe a late knock or maybe illness. Mendy is awaiting trial. Also, we sold Torres without bringing anyone in last month.

I am hoping you make it 9 also. That is a crazy, but great stat!
I need everyone to put their hands up and channel their energy into Sporting Dragon Ball Z style to win tonight :lol:

It happened to me when my team was totally shit (which is quite often the case to be honest) so I just couldn't bear it and opted to watch some actually good football instead of the dross they delivered.

But I couldn't imagine that when everything is going well.

I don’t care if it’s Argentina vs Portugal in the World Cup final of Sporting is playing im watching Sporting play.

My obsession with Sporting is sickening.

For a CL game that's really odd as they'd have access to both. I can't imagine if United were playing Atletico tonight I'd be watching PSG Madrid. I've never watched another match in the CL instead of United no matter who we played.

I suppose City fans just think it will be an easy game? Amorim like Ten Hag have worked wonders so Sporting vs anyone at this stage should be very interesting.

My team's game being inconsequential, basically a friendly in all but name. I'd still switch channels back and forth...

Really hope Madrid smash Qatar, I want our club's bemusing hardon for Poch to be dampened, lest we opt for him over Ten Hag in the summer.

Whether Real lose, or PSG lose, I win.

Nothing like the atmosphere at the Alvalade on Champions league nights! Goosebumps!

How do they get the field to look like that? Is it different types of grass? It looks really nice.
