Champions League Round of 16 (15th Feb - 16th Mar)

I would suggest that doing a cup draw isn't this difficult unless you were trying to manipulate that cup draw. It seems remarkably simple in principal.

Nah yours was the first draw and it was fine, it was the 2nd fixture where the feck up started so your lot do have a point. Would be funny to see Perez & co's outrage if you get the hardest draw now.

If that is right and is clear for all to see, I wonder what are UEFA lawyers thinking about by letting the whole draw be repeated. This is just going to harm UEFA's reputation even more if it goes through.

This is gonna be glorious, so many clubs will be salty when they get a tougher draw.

Also, someone please deliver us with RAWK and bluemoon quotes if they get screwed

They did. This is when Bayern were in a tough spot under Kovac if I’m correct. If they play again in this seasons CL Bayern will be favourites.

Yup. We got spanked, never mind the score. But we were also a very different team under a manager that was completely out of his depth. The (almost) same squad dominated the bubble CL one year later. I'd still like to avoid Liverpool if possible.

I've got a feeling the exact same draw will happen, that's just our luck currently.

My bet would be Liverpool and City swap naff teams and everything else stays the same.

I still don't understand why they didn't take a team off the table when they had been drawn.... it was just so confusing and unnecessary.

Corruption 101:

1. Don't be transparent. It's much harder to cheat if everyone understands what you're doing.
2. Cheat.

I can see the argument for only doing the draw from the point of the mistake but it could look suss if ties from invalid draw were kept, doing the whole thing avoids any question marks

We're going to need someone to zoom in on our and PSG's balls to look for any significant markings.

It should just be a free-for-all. No seeding, no restrictions on playing teams from your own country (in the knockout stages).

16 teams in one pot.

Rumours say Ceferin tried to put Barcelona's ball in some of the pots, but then he got warned that would be way too much for today.

They are not necessarily wrong. UEFA could just redraw from their first mistake, so Real Madrid's draw would remain. That would probably be the most fair solution.

No matter what, some teams will end up being unhappy though.

If they had wrong balls in wrong pots it was wrong before it even started.

The whole thing needs to be redone.

I'd still prefer if teams from the same group were kept apart.

I would love this. It would bring variety. At the very least they need to ditch the rule of no clubs of the same country cannot meet in the first round of the KO stage

PSG haven't been anything special this season but they are still worst possible opponent for us so redraw is a good thing. Ideally we avoid them again, Inter and Atletico as well but there's nothing to lose for United in a redraw. On the other hand, draw was kind to other English teams so they won't be happy surely.

It makes winning the group pointless though.

I'm fine with them getting rid of the not allowed to face teams from your own country in the round of 16 draw however.

Is he right though? When did the first mistake take place in the draw? Wasn't it since the very first moment?

RM can sit down. After their ESL stunt, they have zero grounds to complain and should be happy they're still in the competition.

"Spanked them".

2-1 up on agg until an 84th min goal made it 3-1 does not constitute a spanking.
2-1 up away. Bayern needed 2 goals for most of the second half and were 2nd best the whole game. That’s a spanking when it comes to a CL knockout between 2 mammoth clubs.

So the original draw was voided? What was the issue, the balls weren't hot enough?

RAWK seems to be annoyingly sane about the whole fiasco. Partly because it's obvious they needed to redraw, and partly because they're pretty much bound to smash whoever they're drawn.
