Champions League Round of 16 (13th Feb - 14th Mar)

Barca back to 4-4-2 and they look solid at the middle and the back again.

I don't understand how they keep playing the way they've been playing and people still think they are poor. The results speak for themselves, they allow teams to get into good positions but their last ditch defending is incredible.

Relying on last ditch defending not always the best strategy. One of the CL matches last night is an example of that.

With the spurs collapse, our shit performance yesterday and Chelsea getting romped, Liverpool and City still needing to face the 5 star teams, the Premier league is still miles behind everyone else.

Guarantee City and Liverpool will get their asses handed to them if they face Juv, Bayern, Madrid or Barca

Haven't seen a lot of Barca this season but on this showing I'd fancy City against them. Obviously Messi can change any game though.

City have to be one of the favorites sadly I agree about Liverpool though.

People who don't watch or follow them have it in their minds that they are 'beatable' because they don't know who their new manager is. Real talk. Similar things were said shortly after Louis Enrique took over.

Rudiger is a bit of a donkey isn't he? I remember United were once linked with him under LVG

Juventus - Sevilla
Real Madrid - City
Bayern - Roma
Barca - Liverpool

Thought Hazard is their world class player anot William.

Chelsea with over 40% possession, more attempts at goal and 2-0 down at the Camp Nou. What world is this?

Valverde's Barcelona is the complete opposite of other Barcelona teams, they're incredibly cynical.
He's fully harnessing the fact he has Messi and Suarez. The more open and higher scoring the game, the higher the chances they win because nobody else has Messi and Suarez and Ter Stegen and that CB pair+Busquets

Barca's players think so fast. It's like they have all sorts of automatisms built inside them.

Partly the eye test, they give the opposition more of an opportunity to play. Feels like you have a chance when against peak Barca 2009-12 it felt like it was impossible to do anything against them.

Same end result but a different mental process.

It's tough to stop Barcelona when Messi has a game like this, so influential. Chelsea have at least gotten into good positions but have either fluffed the final ball or have been unable to put a cross in.

Chelsea will look at the times they hit the post. They haven't played badly in either leg really. Courtois has been poor.

The thing is, in past seasons our defense was so "subpar" that once you beat our defensive line once, there was never another chance to try last ditch defending actions.

Now you have to work a little more to get into our area, and once there our defenders/gk aren't completely sold, it's a nice change for once.

The FA Cup will be a dangerous place now with three teams desperate for their only trophy this season.

Is it Chelsea played really well in second half or Barca allowed them to have possession in second half? Whatever it may be, had Chelsea been clinical in front of goal, this match would have turned into classic.

The main difference is how confortable they look without the ball, it's incredible how much Valverde has changed about this team in so little time. Offensively they were always going to be great but I never thought I'd see a Barcelona team defending like this
