Champions League Quarter Finals (5th - 13th Apr)

Exactly. Atletico are technically very very good.

Yes they're thugs. Yes they're shameless in the way they put all the bodies behind the ball.

But when they're going for goal, they're technically excellent, and the comparisons to Burnley are embarrassing from the Caf.

They had City pinned back that entire second half. That was very impressive.
Which is a damn shame as they don't play like that very often in most games. Simeone is holding them back

That’s the only way to respond to Atletico. No point getting caught up in the injustice of it like we did. Just put it right back on them and they can’t take it.
Reminds of school bullies the moment you punch back they back off forever.

Wish we had a match with these feckers with our 90s team, it would have been glorious.

Why do people think that Savic sought out Grealish. Grealish wasn't playing and only had a minor role in the scuffle in stoppage time.
Id say, Grealish said something smart to Savic after the final whistle and Savic made for him.

They have fantastic footballers, I wouldn't say comparisons to Burnley are fair, but their manager sets them up like cowards. They win though so fair play to them. I'd be very interested to see that team under a more attacking manager for comparison.

Amazing how Atletico were experienced, know-how-win, dark arts masters against us, but disgraceful, embarrassing antic-merchants today, according to the commentators.

Was it all on the basis of extra time? I switched over the Liverpool Benfica towards the end and came back at like 9 minutes of added time

I wouldn't be surprised if the games on the weekend had a bearing on this performance, though.

City had Liverpool in an important match for the title.

Atletico had Mallorca where they could rest several of their players.

Atletico have some good players, though.

City or Liverpool for the League and same for Champions League.

What a torrid season, it’s been for United and it will likely be them fighting it out for the FA Cup also, and thus completing a potential treble!

It was seen on the replay. He’s on the bench yet ran up to Savic and gave him some lip. Handbags.

Don’t think Cantona, Hughes and Keane are finishing that one.

That's their problem, they have all these good technical players but most of the time Simeone plays his shitty brand of football when they could play much better than that.

Grealish said something to him in the midst of the sideline scuffle with a shít eating grin, and then Savic pulled his hair. Savic was then being held back at the final whistle, so it's far more likely Savic was looking for him.

Grealish stock has just went up in my opinion.

Honestly City looked a very average team over this knock out.

They barely created anything in the first leg, and their display in Madrid has been awful. Nothing happened in the first part, in the 2nd Atletico was way better. They are very luck to be alive.
Atletico had more clear chances than them overall and they were robbed (that penalty... ehem...).

I cannot understand why Simeone waits until the last half to tell his team to play. They have enough talent for a more positive football for 180 minutes, not just 45.

I mean we hit the post in the first half (the closest either team came in the entire game).

Agree on Simeone he has serious talent and keeps them on reigns. 2nd half proved they could have had a proper go and might have gone through.

How were they robbed? Atletico should have had two red cards, and one of them should have been in the first half.

City dominated them in the first leg; they had plenty of chances to win that by more than 1 goal. Atletico had 1 shot there.

Atletico shot ZERO times in Manchester, ZERO, not 1. Don't give them extra credit haha.

City didn't really have clear chances. Dominated 100% of the time (Atletico let them because... Simeone) but they were toothless, not many chances at all.
Today they were very very bad, and I don't think Pep is happy with the last 45 minutes. Even if they sat behind they conceded a lot.

I don't think Atletico deserved 2 red cards, I think the penalty was fair and square and I cannot understand why VAR didn't even consider it (or I might know... ehem).

City doesn't look so favorite for the CL as I though before this knock out.

This Lad Bible obsession with 'shithousery' is embarrassing.

Two scum clubs playing out a scum 0-0 draw and an embarrassment to football and the CL. You wouldnt get it at Sunday league. Refs to blame in part overall, atletico were spoonfed the last 16 tie

They had a little hair pull on the pitch so assume just afters from that.

City really tried their best to bottle that, weird subs and Atheltico missing some glorious chances. Help us Unai Emery, you are our only hope.

City played them at their own game in the last minutes, foden rolling around like he'd been shot.

Can't blame them atletico bring out the worst in you when your watching it from the stands can't imagine what it's like on the pitch.

Loved seeing foden roll back onto the pitch, I think we played well for the most part, Ake was outstanding when he came on, Shane freakish didn't start, think they would have been down to 10 far earlier

Yes. He took a swipe at someone at some point. Not bothered arguing about it. He does it every time he plays. Gets away with murder.

He made a sliding tackle ffs... and made 1 tactical foul.

I hate Atletico but it's always brilliant entertainment watching them when they're losing.

Think the BT crew have went a wee bit overboard with the "that was a liberty" stuff though

I really need one of their players to explain their collective rage at Grealish. Is it the hair, calves, Gucci or all of the above?

Atletico a horrible club, a horrible team. They make a mockery out of a football match. You can't even analyse that game. At our place, in the last half hour the ball was only in play for 11 minutes. From the goalkeeper to the sub who came on in the last minute, everyone of them had a stint rolling around on the floor.

I was laughing hard at Foden and Fernandinho doing exactly the same back at them and watching them totally lose it. Karma.
