Champions League Quarter Finals (5th - 13th Apr)

Some people actually believing Chelsea could win this UCL. Hilarious.

If Lampard could win it (virtually, first half of the competition anyway) then Tuchel sure as hell can win it on his own terms.

That makes no sense. Lamped getting them out of the group stage is not him “virtually” winning it.

Didnt know that, thanks. What about the away support?
UK government's DCMS and chelsea people in talks with uefa about this ban. Before international break we will get the ban lifted in my opinion and most probably will find out who is our owner too. May be too soon for quarterfinal home game though. Will see what will happen?

I would have preferred another rival so as not to repeat but I'm sure they're motivated after last year's elimination. Do you know if we will play the second game at the Bernabéu? I read that maybe they changed it because of Atlético-City

For Chelsea to progress they will need James back and fit. Im not sure how bad his latest injury is.
Atl Madrid may well surprise Citeh.
Nobody is talking about an all Madrid semi but it could happen.
Liverpool and Munich should progress OK.
Liverpool v Real Madrid in final is my guess

People acting like Liverpool will steam roll Bayern into the final.
No chance.
bayern will be in the final against City most probs

I stand to win £1300 if Liverpool win the Quad. Nice compensation.

Chelsea/Tuchel are made for cup games. Not enough goals or risk taking to win the league, but do well in the cups. But RM and Carlo will be a good match and unlike last season this time they can rest players in the league.

Liverpool will definitely score goals against Bayern’s defence, Lewandowski & Co. better be fit and firing upfront unlike last season’s games against PSG.

Atletico are average in Europe for the last few years so if City turn up they’ll have an easy game.

Getting the feeling Liverpool are due to lay an egg, suffer a shock defeat, and get knocked out, while competing on all fronts. Also feels like they give up big chances to their opponents every match that either require Allison to make a world class save or the opposing player completely wastes.

It's just so typical that Liverpool's rise has coincided with the rest of Europe going to shit. They won their 6th champions League by beating Spurs ffs. Luckiest team in existence.

When we were getting to finals in the 2000s we had to face probably the greatest club side in history. Absolute joke!

I don't know what's more annoying. Utd not being in the competition or the repeated dyslexia with people spelling Atletico as Athletico on here!

After being outplayed by them in the final for most of the game too!

Tuchel's due a battering at our hands anyways

You can't be serious. Madrid looked average against PSG for almost 135min. You were quite lucky PSG just capitulated in the final 45 of the match up. Also can't see how Madrid will get through our press as Kroos and Modric are on their last legs. Not too worried about Vinicius against Reece James and should be a nice battle on the wing. To add to that, Ancelotti is tactically stubborn so I don't see him adapting and responding in match. This isn't the Madrid of 2018 with Ronaldo pulling magic out of his hat.

Genuinely not worried about Madrid :smirk:

I really can’t read this “greatest club side in history” stuff anymore. First of all there’s no guarantee that we would have beaten RM or another team instead. I mean we couldn’t even beat Basel one year later.

Then, Inter and 10-men Chelsea did beat the greatest club side in history after all, so they were not unbeatable.
And don’t get me started on how Chelsea should have already beaten them in 2009 anyway if the referee hadn’t been bought by Barca. So Chelsea could match them and only a few weeks later we couldn’t.

Our peak was 2008, we were in slight decline afterwards and by 2011 we were an average European side. What could have been really doesn’t matter as no one knows.

James is important but seriously, how many of their players get in the Chelsea team? I have Benz then after that Alaba (but he would need to play LB/LWB) and then a toss up between Courtois and Mendy.

None of the Madrid CB's/CM's make it into Chelsea's line up, which is why I would have Alaba as a LB.

Chelsea are comfortably better than Madrid, don't know what some of you are on about, I guess those last 30 minutes vs PSG made people forget how bad every Spanish team has been for some time now.

Looks like another English CL triumph after 2019 and 2021.

Chelsea are comfortably better than Real Madrid? No they're not.

Yeah I really don’t get where the optimism is coming from. Ancelotti is indeed stubborn af and will still field that KCM midfield despite it clearly not working. Our backs are trash and so is the RW position. Only thing we have going is Courtois, CB pairing of Militao and Alaba, Vinicius and Benzema. Other than that…got really lucky against PSG.

A penalty after 20 seconds helps too.

They were in a group with PSG and Napoli, and defeated Bayern and Barca in KO stages.

We also had a group with PSG and Napoli, beat Bayern and then Barcelona as well on the way to that final. Since Klopp's been our manager we've consistently had FA and Carabao Cup draws against Premier League opposition as well. Even our CL group this year was the hardest out of the English clubs (Milan, Porto and Atletico).

This draw is as good as we could've hoped for though. Looks like we completely avoid City and Chelsea?

Ronaldo was a passenger against Bayern and Liverpool in the Semis and Final of 2018.

The whole Madrid team was better than the current one, it wasn't just Ronaldo, which is why they could afford Ronaldo having a bad game and still win.

I am not going to come here and say the Dippers' are lucky in regards to draws. It is just the way the cookie crumbles and it looks this season is all falling into place for them, which is a massive worry (I personally don't think draws are fixed as it requires too many people to not say anything.)

What does bother me about them however is reffering decisions. I mean in the LC final Keita should've been sent off 100%, then in the Inter game, Inter break and they get a BS foul on TAA in something like the 89th minute. For me, I can't see them not getting to the final. I just hope the ref decisions start getting less ridiculous.

I am looking forward to us playing the RM retirement tour.

To be fair, did you see that Milan team they beat in 2005?

Lewandowski was injured

So both City and Liverpool are still in play for a treble or a quadruple in Liverpools case and we are sitting here with a thumb up our hole struggling to get into 4th? The Glazers can get fecked
