Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

This is brutal. We're lucky only to be down with one. Hopefully Klopp has some magic to perform in the break, otherwise I can't see us survive. Sane's brilliant.
Brilliant tonight but he went missing in the last 2 games

Right, but this is to do with the Milner contact. Does Milner deliberately play the ball? If not, it's offside. If he does deliberately play the ball it's onside. That's all.

Nope. You cannot be offside from an opposition touch whether deliberate or not.

This ref has been very strong and has controlled the match amongst all things said. Very impressed..so far and not including the offside no goal call.

Yeah. That was unnecessary, but the Pep sending off was deserved. Weird thing to complain about.

Maybe. But it was a proper goal so you can understand his frustration. Ref is a general mug I remember him from previous games too he used to wind me up in matches that didn't even involve united

I f*cking love this ref. He's not afraid to show these spoiled brats who's boss. You wanna scream at me? Fine, here's a yellow. Hey baldie, wanna tell me what to do? Fine, go sit with your plastic fans.

He's got every right to be annoyed but boy does he have a sense of fecking entitlement!

He'll be wearing another ribbon for the disallowed goal
Got sent off for showing dissent against a mistake made by the stupid official. Why isn't technology being used? It was a very important goal which got wrongly disallowed

Bluemoon, a penny for your HT thoughts please:

I'm packing in watching football after this season. It is corrupt as feck and giving me ulcers or worse
Pure luck the CL and UEFA decide who gets through and who wins and the officials make sure it gets done.
4 goal swing on bad decisions so far in this tie. Disgraceful. We really need to kick up a fuss about this, it's unacceptable.
Maybe Pep will realise why we hate UEFA
And they wonder why we boo their shit anthem.
feck off you smug bald twat!
Pot, kettle...

I wonder do managers have their own seats ready for them in case they get sent off, or do they shunt someone out.

I'm laughing at Liverpool possibly screwing this up, but then when Sane scored by there i started to cringe as i thought they got a second! I don't know what to think!
haha....dont know which side i want to see crumble here...Probably i would enjoy Liverpool crumbling a bit more.

City have been amazing in the first half, but Liverpool have been abysmal. Why does Klopp want us to sit and just defend for 90 mins? We have to show a bit more ambition otherwise City will get a second and a 3rd in no time. Our team makes me so nervous

I'm enjoying this.

Watching Pep lose his head and get sent off was hilarious.
If Silva gets sent off for a second yellow, it'll make things better

I think... if Karius directly punches him the ball, the goal stands - he's behind the ball

Punch then deflected puts him off again - not behind ball when played.

It's to stop there being 8 in there, some of whom are off & some of whom are on when the ball gets played depending when they went in there.

They have to make anyone / everyone off to make it manageable so came up with deliberate / accidental distinction

I think...

No it's not! Sane is onside when the last city player touches the ball! That's the only time his position counts for offside!

Exactly. I apologize for posting this, because I know it should be common knowledge, but...

A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play by:

  • interfering with play or

  • interfering with an opponent or

  • gaining an advantage by being in that position

Liverpool lead a charmed existence with referees in the CL.

Properly implemented VAR would’ve ended most of their better campaigns before they got near a final.
Other than the Garcia goal (where if it’s not a goal it’s a penalty and a red for Cech), I’m curious what other decisions you’re referring to.

How is Fernandinho fecking everywhere? Low-key putting in an immense performance sniffing out Liverpool's counters.
