Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

Sane is a good yard onside either way. Shocking decision to be fair.

At 2-0 the stage would have been set for a great half, as it stands now City still have loads of work to do.

Pep is off as well. Potential 3rd meltdown in a week incoming. Hope I'm wrong and its just my usual in match depression.

For all the whataboutery and snide Pep digs it's fair to say he's every right to be pissed off. Good goal disallowed, 0 time added on and Mane somehow still being on the pitch?

This ref is a weapon.
What did Mane do? He slipped, should not have even been a yellow really. Otamendi made a meal out of it. Dont think mane had a foul since?

Everything breaks down when it gets to Sterling. His lack of technical ability sticks out like a sore thumb in this City team.

I think he's the dirtiest manager in the game. I've been convinced for years that he instructs his players to dive and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if his attacking players practice it in training.

Of course they do. How is that even a question. Ederson basically shoved Mane hard 6-7 times and if he reacts just once, it´s a possible 2nd yellow for Mane after his accidental slip-foul. Busquets would have done three backflips on the first contact, rolled over three more times, grabbed his face and screamed in agony.

Awesome ref.

If they get another goal before Liverpool, I can see Liverpool folding.

Liverpool players are clearly fearing the worst. Almost as if they are waiting for the inevitable. Similar to us at the weekend, just waiting to concede.

It's needs to be a deliberate pass from a defender to be not offside. A deflection does not count. So it was offside.

No it does not need to be a deliberate pass from a defender. When De Bryune first passes it Sane was onside, when ball was punched by Karius it hit Milner and came back to Sane. It was not offside as there was no other city touch once initial KDB pass.

It's a bullshit rule even if it was enforced correctly.

Two opposition players can play the ball and you can be in front of the last defender and still be considered offside.

Where is the sense in that?

Pretty sure Sane was onside from when De Bruyne first played the ball, so therefore he’s onside because Milner played the second ball, right?

Also how many would Real or Barca have against us by now if we played like that against them?

I dread to think. Honestly, the worst thing about us losing this match would be the mental gymnastics used to compare this comeback to the Barcelona 6-1 game against PSG last year.

Has to be two defenders behind the most forward player. And since Milner did not deliberately play the ball backwards it is offside.

So a clearance from Karius, nodded back by Milner - both Liverpool-players by the way, puts Sane in offside? Ok, new rules, I have been living a lie for so long.

German "Sky" watchers here? I'm watching thistin a pub with the sound off...

Why the hell is the half time show hosted by Calmund and Melania Trump?

Calmund's body amazes me every time I watch him. How he is still able to stand is beyond me.

Ever seen that situation: shot on goal, keeper parries, second attacker scores? In that situation, the moment of the first shot counts. "Bounced off the opposition" rule was ditched a decade and a half ago.

Uhh the rule indicates that deliberate saves do not void offside positions. In this case Milner playing the ball voided Sane’s offside position.

What did Mane do? He slipped, should not have even been a yellow really. Otamendi made a meal out of it. Dont think mane had a foul since?

First 20 seconds he went on KDB with a high foot and caught him on the shin. Should have been a booking but the ref lets it slide since it was so early which I hate. A foul is a foul no matter the time.

Doesnt work like that, if it's off a city player then he is offside as since the goalkeeper is ahead of the play, the last liverpool player counts like the goalkeeper (so sane would be offside). But point is that it came off Milner so it doesnt matter

Wow, that's a very poor decision in such a high stakes match. Surely VAR will help resolve those issues.

I don't care about City winning, but that would have set up an incredible second half of watch.

Om Trayambkam Yajmahee ...Sugandim ...

Nice name you have.

Touch and go this game anyway lads. I think City will turn this around.

Sourpuss said that the other day after the derby game;he isn't a clean striker of a football.

Sterling has had a lot of tap ins

But that's the point: Sane was onside when De Bruyne played the ball over the top. No other city player touches the ball until Sane scores

Right, but this is to do with the Milner contact. Does Milner deliberately play the ball? If not, it's offside. If he does deliberately play the ball it's onside. That's all.

This is brutal. We're lucky only to be down with one. Hopefully Klopp has some magic to perform in the break, otherwise I can't see us survive. Sane's brilliant.

I think he's the dirtiest manager in the game. I've been convinced for years that he instructs his players to dive and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if his attacking players practice it in training.
His teams are masters of the dark arts. I hated Barcelona and especially Dani Alves but there are some other cnuts in this team like Ederson, Otamendi and Fernandinho. Sterling wastes no time diving. They have self entitlement and when they lose it they really lose it. It's easy to be all nice when your winning but they show their real colours in adversity.

He gave Bernado a yellow after some mild descent (which was a wrong decision to give a free kick against him on in the first place). He also clearly wants to stamp his authority to be card happy for kicks.
Yeah. That was unnecessary, but the Pep sending off was deserved. Weird thing to complain about.

Doesnt work like that, if it's off a city player then he is offside as since the goalkeeper is ahead of the play, the last liverpool player counts like the goalkeeper (so sane would be offside). But point is that it came off Milner so it doesnt matter

I didn't know that, appreciate your insight mate.

Meh, a standard somewhat yellow at the start doesnt mean he wouldve had his yellow later (which shouldn't have been a yellow anyway). If he's on a yellow and does something that should get a yellow, then fine.

Did this ref really take Pep to court once? If so then it's bloody ridiculous that he's allowed to ref a game of this magnitude.

Might be a fear of over committing and leaving space in behind, which we’re doing anyway.
You are pressing with your front 3 and sitting deep with rest of the team. Klopp is either finally being pragmatic OR the Liverpool players are shit**ing themselves.

Second from last defending player counts. Usually the goalie is the last, so we are used to watching the last field player. But in this case, goalie wasn't last. Or am I missing something else?
You're missing the fact that offside counts at the moment of the pass. KDB makes the pass. Sane is onside. No other city player touches the ball until Sane scores. Ergo, Sane's position counts at the moment KDB plays the pass
