Champions League Quarter Finals (3rd - 11th April)

I just had a quick browse of Blue Moon, which is something I rarely do, but I must say it's very satisfying. The Berties are in full conspiracy theory mode: apparently the referee was against Citeh because he's Spanish and Guardiola supports Catalan independence. Plots are being lost

I'll concede the point as I'm pretty sure you are the authority on them. Still hope the scousers draw Real.

You are like the epitome of why I dislike the new „new members rule“. Some of them would have said „but I’ve read on Reddit“. We might both be wrong, but we both acknowledge that we have seen more of our respective leagues and teams

What a performance by Roma, no one saw that coming.

Real Madrid now heavy favourites for sure now, well they always were anyway.

Madrid are favourites again, feck it, let them get another CL than Liverpool winning it.
I don't want to hear 6 times la in my lifetime.

13 times is a nightmare

To give you context, if Madrid win the CL this season, they will have won more CL trophies in the last 4 years than Manchester United in their history.

Okay, Bayern then, just don't want Liverpool winning it. :wenger:

Real madrid are most likely going to do a three peat.

Bayern look weak this season, and I honestly thought and wanted (after the first leg), for Sevilla to knock them out. But with Barca out, I'd rather Bayern through, because no matter what I dont want pool to win

That applies to most teams though tbf.

If Madrid win their 4th CL in 5 years, that means they are missing only one more CL trophy to eaual what Barca, Bayern and Liverpool won in their history.

Madrid are going to beat Liverpool any day. Pool plays a complete opposite style to Pep. They were the worst draws for them as City don't seem to handle presing well at all. Madrid plays a different and more balanced style with more lethal attack and better defense.

Sane was more like Wrongaldo tonight. A liability.

He's better. I actually hope you win the entire thing out btw.

Surely not a United fan then ?

I think us Liverpool fans are just happy to be in the semi's and enjoying the ride . What I buzz off though is we have got you all thinking and shitting yourselves over the thought of us just being there again.

You just never know with Liverpool.

I'm getting worried and will be positively neurotic if you draw Roma. This shit is getting serious now.

Would like to see Liverpool and Roma meet in the semi so one of them is getting to the final.

City fan but if not us might as well be another English team.

Real and bm are obviously faves but Roma proved tonight as did you at anfield vs us. Both of you can blow teams away in 90 minutes. In fact you beat us in 30.

I wonder if there's more crying at the end of this match. Either they don't turn up or they come and cry. City supporters.

Would there still be more people rooting for Madrid because of Ronaldo? That’s the vibe I got in recent times. A lot of people also don’t want to go us too far ahead in regards to CL titles.
Rather you than Madrid or Pool. And I have no particular affinity for Ronaldo. He is more of a Madrid legend than United's.

Would have rooted for City if we lost to you. The only teams I wouldn't root for in Europe really are united,Chelsea, and Everton.

And some people said on here yesterday that Madrid wouldn't get close this City team!?

A myth of a football club, dominating an awful Premier League and getting shown up when attacked against.

Awful premier league? Man I am a Liverpool fan but Man city deserve the respect , if premier league is so awful than why didnt our respective teams win it? It only means we are even worse than city since we couldn't win the awful league. Either way we are worse ,atleast 17 and 13 points worse.

De Brunye and Silva will have a field day. As for Ronaldo as great as he is he won't do shit without the ball. PSG? They ain't shit on City. Messi/Bayern at their best are the only ones who can stop City's top level. Best team in Europe this year overall by quite a distance.

That's how overrated City are.

Roma nailed on to draw Liverpool while Real get Bayern.

Roma are a big, physical team with a strong DEF, arguably the best GK in the world right now, and a MID that would likely overrun Liverpool’s. Not only that, they would be willing to concede possession to a Liverpool team who is much better at counter attacking open space, rather than breaking compact teams down.

Roma were very unlucky to lose in Spain, and have not conceded at home in the CL this season against some pretty strong squads (Athletico Madrid, Chelsea, Shakhtar, Barca)

All that being said, unless Sevilla somehow advance, I think Liverpool and Roma would be pleased to draw each other.

Liverpool fan here, in peace. That first half, I thought we were gonna get slaughtered, Gabriel Jesus (2' minute) ... Feck sake! If 2-0 in that half - we were dead, confirmed.

68% possession held by City, showed on how superior City in controlling the game and dictating the tempo, against this well drilled Klopp's side. Liverpool cant even get out of their half in the first 45 minutes. Just watched the replay, and it's really really ugly for us.

You can see 4 yellow cards for Liverpool, on how desperate we were to contain this City beast midfielders. Dear God Wijnaldum, Milner and Ox were soooo lightweight!

Truly, I was happy enough if the result was 1-0 yesterday. Seriously. We are still through if it's 2-0 though. Would be lovely if Sane to Anfield though. What a player!

We sold players for 120m € during that time though, and Pep actually had to play a semi vs MSN-led Barca with a throughly depleted squad and not a single actual winger available.
Feel free to shit on his City time all you want, please, but leave us out of it.
While context is welcomed most of the time, in this instance, it is not. Why? Because look at us. We have a bigger rebuild job, yet every penny we spent is exegerated. Pep was building on position of strength. Accounting the money his teams spent during his time there is just what goes around come around.

After I saw the dreadful defensive performances of City and Barca , I got more mad that we are not at the 1/4 finals and then 1/2 finals .

We just needed a little more push at Sevilla and we would be performing at this stage of the CL , we got it .

Next year I hope we won't be that cautious when entering the knockouts .

If we have the home leg first we might go for it. But, if we get the away leg first expect more of the same.

Agree with that. I don't doubt Roma's ability to knock Liverpool out, was just pointing out that a Bayern-Real tie again seems par for the course in the semis, which means these two will be paired. Also add to the idea of Salah up against his former club, stage seems set.

Are you serious? You cannot write off Juventus who are 3-0 down, away from home and without their best player? They are completely out of it without any question.

City need a miracle. They will need to attack Liverpool and it will expose them to counter attacks. I think Liverpool have a good chance to score at Etihad and if that happens, I doubt City are scoring five or more.

Of course it’s also possible that Sevilla will win 6-0 in Munich and Roma will beat Barca 8-0 in the return leg but I guess that’s not going to happen either. All the games look very unexciting heading into second legs which was my point. City are probably the only team not entirely out of it and even then their chances are so slim and will probably be gone after the first half.

I guess football is not that simple :P
