Champions League Last 16 games - Feb/Mar 2015

That was tough to watch...I always feel a real sense of dread when Barcelona play like this. This is a pretty good Man City team being made to look dreadful.

Do you think Brentan will try and take any credit for Suarez goals tonight?

"i saw his goals the other night and.....*gulp* i saw a wee move we used to work on in training here. Aye, i used to say to Luish....Luish, when you play the ball it's all about the muscles that you don't use...your wee muscles, the cute ones as I call them. He'd smile in his adorable way and say "si boss". Which is yes, in spanish."

Is that gulp from where he's trying to swallow the food he seems to like eating before every interview?

Kompany has taken a number of batterings in the CL. Messi has been sublime tonight, football lesson for his opponents.

Kompany, Chiellini and Hummels not doing great for big name defenders.

Demichelis, Bonucci and Papastathopoulos doing their bit for underrated defensive partners though.

Basel - Porto sounds like a strong contest.

Where is @Arruda nowadays?

Studying hard and paying little attention to football. Chose a decent game to watch today though. Even in his own midfield Messi is

I suffered against Basel. Stonewall ludicrous penalty denied for us, and a very home friendly referee. Even the disallowed goal, although correctly called, was suspicious, as kick-off was about to be done when the goal was ruled out. As in, like, well, someone watching the game in TV and warning the referee. Perhaps technology is already among us, though not for all.

I hate losing 1-0 away from home, too much pressure to not suffer in our ground, so our goal felt like a winner. 1-1 was unfair (we deserved better), but good looking for us.

Scholes is loving it. Barca seem more direct tonight, just carving through the City defence.

Lee Dixon is funny constantly moaning that their closing down is half arsed and they need to knock it over the top, when the truth is that City have been well and truly played off the park and schooled.

Pellegrini won't be there next season.

We are nowhere near the quality of Barca. Watching Messi and Co make you realize how average our play makers like Rooney are. Totally different class.

This is exactly what I thought watching the first half. The difference in their attack and our attack seems absolutely massive.

It's a little bit of both IMHO, Barca are amazing but setting up in a 4-4-2 with so many lazy players for City was suicidal to begin with.

Was genuinely shocked to see Pellegrini learn absolutely nothing from his previous games and go with 2 strikers. City getting completely dismantled in midfield. Managed to get £200 on Barca at evens after I saw the team news, could be 5-0.

Trouble is if City go out they will dominate in the league and nick the title.

Hows it going mate? I´m rooting for you to pull it off. I finished a law masters and i´m about to going to Wales after a very good offer from a Welsh company.

How much United going to pay for Hobbels? He´s not exactly doing great as the leader of a defense. No Boateng and Lahm to fix his screw-ups. Amateurish defending.

I still can't understand what Pellegrini wants to accomplish with this lineup against Barcelona... Playing both Nasri and Silva on the wings plus Dzeko as a target man in a flat 4-4-2, that's three players who offer minimal tracking back and their overall defensive contribution is very poor.

Alves and Alba have all the time in the world on the ball and enough space to run with it (or without it) till the final third with no one closing them down. Barcelona's off the ball movement and passing are excellent but City are just making it so easy for them atm.

From Barcelona's pov Enrique's latest trick to place his midfielders deeper on the pitch and depend on Messi-Suarez-Neymar to provide the goods is paying off and might save their season. They look much more compact when defending and the trio up front are really enjoying the freedom of movement they're given.

Not a great look for Hummels; given Kompany's getting stick for both Suarez goals.

I'm still not a Hummels fan. I try to be, like any other good transfer muppet, but I just don't really feel it.

On the other hand Pogba got an assist for the Morata goal.

It's the typical "we're not afraid of them so we'll play our own game". Pb is that Barca are just better than them. That was stupid overconfidence from Pellegrini

This isn't without a silver lining for City. They've been blown away by a formidable attacking display. Few teams could cope with Messi and co on that form. And now City can no focus solely on the league for the rest of the season. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if they're talking about the next league match in the dressing room right now.

Not sure about that

For me barcelona over the past couple of months rivals their time under pep

Of course they have to maintain that to really be compared

The game at the weekend says otherwise, they lost 0-1 at home to Malaga. I thought they were poor and have been just OK recently despite dismantling a few no marks.

You took away Yaya from shitty's midfield, and they look like a mid table team.

They looked like a mid table team against Barcelona last season with Touré too. English teams just aren't that good in reality.
