Champions League Knockouts (12 Aug - 23rd Aug)

Dembele value gone up 20 million even though no club in England think he’s good enough

I still stand by that. Lyon were more clinical than City but on the balance of the game they weren't 'better'.
Winner is better. Always. If you take 1000 matches in all 1000 better team is a winner. It is pretty simple. Winner=better team (in that moment of course)

The
They conceded the most goals they have since their last 7th place finish.

They were piss poor and its not an accident Sarri got sacked. Juve were worse then last season.

And yet they were the best team in Italy, proven by the season, so

They didn't get to finish the league though
They were still 9 points behind 4th team. Lyon this season were so good they managed 0 wins in 2 months.
Between 27th Aug and 26th October 8 games 0W 4D 4L.
That's how fecking bad they were.

If you think City were the best team over the 90 mins you need to give up the sport pal. They had a good 20 mins or so in second half and that was it. Lyon miles better team. Even City fans are saying it.

...and you need to take your tinted glasses off.

Well you know where you can stick your annoyance now. Hopefully you were not too lazy to bookmark like I did.

Got me a little bit of change too.

I wouldn’t have even brought this up, but this exchange really pissed me off, acting high and mighty as if I wasn’t entitled to think City would not win.

There it is! The predicted "I told you so" post. That's actually pretty funny. And you still don't even understand what the argument was about.

The Pep Guardiola is my idol can only win in europe with prime messi, xavi, iniesta and puyol.

Despite spending almost a billion pounds in germany and england, he still hasn't even managed to come close.

City would surely buy a striker if Aguero leaves the club. Jesus is not even as good as our front 3. Expensive flop but I guess there is some resale value. Maybe Pep will leave Barcelona and takes Jesus along with a swap deal involving Greimann.

Jesus is not as good as Danny Ings.

The GENIUSES didn’t play like they should have (according to our script)!

P.s. de Bruyne (sherminator) deserves everything

Beginning of the season..... Also was still lots of points to be gained or loss. This is a good team and they proved it.

I don't know how people can be bickering this evening! I'm sat in my chair with a warm fuzzy feeling akin to a post Christmas dinner slumber.

You just dont get it.

Please actually watch the games before having a debate on football.

They’re the best team in Italy, league table proves it. Might be getting worse, they’re still the best team in Italy.

last 8 matches 3w3l2d
Not to mention Rangers beat them 2-0 despite playing 50min with a player less(39min red card) in a friendly 1 month ago
There was a lot of squad rotation but still...

I mentioned this last night when it was evident that Barca were exhausted. It's a huge advantage for the German/French teams.

Can we please stop with posts like that?

Playing no game for 4 or 5 weeks (German teams) and what... 3 months (French teams) and than directly going into CL finals isn't an advantage.

Pros are used to be playing "English weeks" for years now, but now all of a sudden a 5 week break between the most important games is a huuuuge advantage over teams that only had a 1 week break?

What's even your argument? Bayern and PSG being in the semis is hardly a surprise. The mighty PSG with this huuuge advantage barely beat Atlanta. Tonight City looked like the team with more stamina, Lyon seemed dead since the 60th minute.

And what about the results of the German teams in the Europe league? Why did they all fail so badly?

I'm already tired of this nonsense about a huuuge advantage, downplaying the performance of Bayern, Leipzig, PSG and Lyon.

Before the start nobody around here or elsewhere claimed that it is an advantage for the German and French teams, quite the contrary in fact.

Its a cup competition. Anything can happen. I also don't understand why we even need to compare different leagues - let us just enjoy the fact city lost.

Yeah Lyon in Ligue 1 were shoddy, Garcia made them solid but they were still not good against other french teams. It would be a small miracle for them to do what they did today against any of the 6 teams that finished above them.

Technically yes but actually no.

I will give you 3 examples and stop there as I dont think you watched the Serie A season.

- Beginning of the season vs Napoli they win 4-3 with an incredible own goal from koulibaly in the last minute of added time.
- Vs Atalanta they were outplayed until a last minute soft penalty gives them a 2-2 draw.
- Vs Hellas Verona they win 2-1 being played off the park with Verona hitting the post on 3 separate occasions and the keeper making a fantastic save on another.

* All those games were at home
* They won the league by 1 point. If not for the incredible luck of those games they lose the title.

Its not as simple as looking at points and saying " They are the far superior team"

Granted its easy for you to make that argument without actually watching how the season unfolded.

There it is! The predicted

There it is! The predicted "I told you so" post. That's actually pretty funny. And you still don't even understand what the argument was about.

Please explain what the ‘argument is about’ then? You tried the other day, and spoke absolute irrelevance about people laying into Pep of they lose, which had not one single thing to do with me predicting a loss. You tried to change the argument the other day, it is you that is lost. The conversation was simple. I predicted a City loss, someone else got so angry at people who try to make arbitrary predictions, seemingly to appear clever, and he’d like to catch them out. Then later, you decided the ‘argument’ was something else.

Not to mention, that I didn’t quote you anyway. And if you took a minute to read what I did quote, you would see that I am fully entitled to respond to someone who was so dismissive and ‘annoyed’ and declared that if he could be bothered, he’d bookmark it himself so that he can come and do the exact same thing.

It’s funny people were slaughtering Juve for losing to this Lyon team, when they fared far better than City did tonight.

Lyon isn’t getting passed Bayern, but they have some quality in that squad.
