I get your point, but Liverpool have had to many on / off periods in terms of randomly finishing 5th or 6th, or just nowhere near challenging.

Don't remember that happening with United.

Really enjoyed that half. We carried more threat but Madrid were always dangerous on the counter.
 
Feels like I'm watching Garnacho play for Real Madrid looking at Mbappe this game. Lot of intent to do something with the ball but absolutely useless at it.

Deny mbappe running space and he is neutralised, guler having a nightmare, no one making any runs behind defence even I. Good position just take a defender away at the very least, zero interest in running by Madrid

He seems to have lost his confidence. While he’s always been quick, his dribbling was a standout feature of his game. Now, however, that skill appears to have faded, and he often just runs straight into defenders without creating opportunities.

What :lol: Your defense had feck all to do, the GK nothing. Absolute trash from our side, which is in line with most of the season.
 
I always find it annoying when people say X player has gotten worse as if that just happens.

Mbappe is not in a team that builds everything around him anymore, where he could do what he wants and has 0 responsibility against usually crap teams.
 
Micah Richards is the worst “pundit” ever. All he does is laugh annoying loud. Henry is a close second who doesn’t laugh but doesn’t offer anything interesting. These 4 getting paid to just fool around. At least Carragher is good on Sky with his analysis.

What’s that got to do with anything? Three times today he has been given the ball in positions he used to be deadly and three times he looked like he was playing in welly boots.

Mbappé was a lot less impactful last two seasons with PSG too, compared to his own standards.

So far he peaked in 2021 and has fallen off a cliff in 2023 - going on two years now, regardless of the team he plays for.

No, the comparisons keep being quite apt - from marauding, blistering wingers that could dribble themselves out of a telephone booth stuffed with elephants, to one trick ponies that cannot get the ball past even the most average defenders around. It's like they are twins, separated at birth, without looking similar at all.

Not saying they are as good as we were. Just that, at their best, they have a playing style which reminds me of our teams in the past.
