Champions League 24/25 | Matchday 5: November 26-27

So blasting the ball at the defenders is a good strategy in UCL. Absurd rule.

Arsenal under arteta have always been pretty defensive and focused on grinding out ugly wins but it's been really negative this season.

They're a tough watch.

Barcelona is on fire. Flick ball is so effective.

Is that former footballer Rio Ferdinand on comms? I was expecting Clint Boon or some other member of the Mad-chester scene

4-1 Barca. Lewandoswki and Raphina both score. That's something like 25 goals in the last 5 games.

Horrible really.

Nice to see them get a taste of their own medicine today again after Newcastle on Saturday.

Raphinha's turn around has been insane.
Unwanted last year amongst the Barca fanbase and now he's one of the top 5 wide players in European football.

He and Yamal are the two best in Europe right now, tbh.

Merino looks like a bang average, bog standard midfielder. Nothing remotely ‘quality’ about him other than being tall and strong.

Why wasn't Lego sent off for that? You can't run onto the pitch and catch the ball ffs

Flick rests everyone but Lewa and Yamal and I think this will prove costly at some point. They're 4 goals up in so many games and yet they just seem to play 90 every week. For Yamal especially, this is surely a risk.

The Bayern game is a hard watch. I'm mostly watching Flickball instead, but at 4-1 and with multiple subs they also have slowed down considerably.

Barcelona's football is just incredibly brilliant to watch. I don't think anyone in the world can come close to this level of football, technicality, and one touch football mixed with that front three.

Olise is a perfect Pep player. Wonder why City didn't go for him?!

However, given his lack of speed and acceleration, there's a very small chance he's gonna be world class.

1-0 Bayern

This is the most clinical, German analysis ever. Well done.

They and Liverpool have been playing depressingly well this season.

Did not agree with the red for Feyenoord. Nadje is just poking the ball, gets it and lands on the other player. Unfortunate but shit happens. No malice, no loss of control, no excessive force. What was it that consituted as a red?

Knew it was going to be given upon the review as it reminded me of the bs Rashford red last season.

Atleti get a late 93rd minute after being spanked all game by PSG.

Game set match to Atalanta, horrible individual error from the defender and a simple finish for Zaniolo. Stuttgart really pushed forward after going behind and probably deserved a goal.

Stiller was fantastic though. Not quite the midfielder we need since he isn't a 6 but certainly a great number 8.

Last minute goal on a counter-attack for Atletico after a one-sided game in PSG's favor. Brilliant assist by Griezmann, as usual, mistake by Donnaruma, as usual. PSG created more than enough chances and dangerous situations to win but were failed once again by poor finishing.
