Champions League — quarter-finals and semi-finals draw

Enrique is probably getting another big club job after this despite doing nothing ever since that MSN years, and even there he was close to sacking before those three did their part. he'll probably manage Madrid next and then City.

Max per league is 5.
the kicker report @stefan92 linked to claims that UEFA confirmed to them the max from next season could be 7. 4 spots, one performance bonus spot and a CL and EL winner spot if those winners do not qualify via the league.
I am not really sure though whether they really checked what happens if one of the winners lands on the bonus performance spot..

Max per league is 5.
See above. Theoretical maximum for a league is 7 CL teams - 4 fix spots, 1 spot each for EL and CL winner if they aren't in top 4, 1 bonus spot for the best two leagues.

That's the thing though, the report didn't say "if they are not in top 4", but "if they don't qualify via the league position". I would understand that the bonus spot also qualifies via league position. That's why I am sceptical..

Don't think max is 5 but in either case Germany won't get more than that because Leverkusen are already in the UCL places, so it won't matter if they win the EL. If it were the case that a German team outside the top 5 won it then Germany would have 6, or even 7 if Dortmund were outside the top 5, which they are not.

I saw tweets talking about Italy having the possibility of 6 teams.

Amazing the last Champions League final in Wembley was Dortmund vs Bayern and it may well be this year too.

Either that or the final will all be about Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham v Jadon Sancho at Wembley Stadium. It has a nice ring to it.

So tomorrow Bayern and Real play the final then.

My god seeing Dortmund in the final of the CL is so random and weird considering their team and also how bad they are playing in the bundesliga. Compared to 2013 this is such a nothing team.

I am sometimes reading the Dortmund forums and around 80% of dortmund fans want Terzic gone since even last year when they nearly won the league.
A team with Fülllkrug as main striker, Sabitzer and Can in the middle of the park and a backline with Stolperbeck and Ryerson..

Most definitely the worst finalist I can remember watching football since late 90‘s.

Some will disagree but please tell me who of that team will be poached by big clubs? (maybe Maatsen, and he is only on loan at dortmund)
Whenever a kind of underdog team gets deep in the CL their players get picked up by the big boys. Best example is Ajax a few years ago and they didn’t even make the final.
Who is their standout player? This would be the first time a CL winning team does not have a player in the top 50 of ballon d‘or voting.

Also seeing Emre Can lift that CL trophy as captain would just feel so wrong

"Went to"? He is Bavarian and played at for Bayern's youth teams before moving to Dortmund. When he signed for Bayern it was a return home.
Are you a Bayern fan? You're weirdly intimate when talking about them.

Cry about it more. Worst team or undeserved my ass. Underdogs who went from expected to finish last in group of death, to winning the group ahead of PSG, Milan, and Newcastle, to making the final.

Won h2h vs Milan | unbeaten 1w 1d
Won h2h vs Newcastle | unbeaten 2w
Won h2h vs Atletico | 1w 1l 5:4
Won h2h vs PSV | unbeaten 1w 1d
Won h2h after 4 games vs PSG | 2w 1d 1l

Sell Bellingham, bring Sancho, reach the UCL final

I hope Dortmund go all the way and win it. I’ve had a soft spot for them since their resurgence under Klopp and I will always back the underdog team against a Bayern or Real

Watching Dortmund's back line in the last ten minutes - it looked like they had brought the Yellow Wall with them!

What's random is this amount of hate for fecking Dortmund. Only explanation is that you're a frustrated PSG fan.

Just watched the highlights. Seemed very much like the Utd game in 97, those scruffy feckers Dortmund just hung on in there and knicked a goal to seal it.

Hope whichever of Bayern or Real goes through absolutely annihilates them in the final.

Until Adeyemi was substituted and Reus came on, PSG barely did anything. Dortmund made it stay 0-0. Late on after the subs they had 0 offensive outlets and had some luck but also defended bravely.

Real - Dortmund would be a terrible final. 3/4-1. Praying for a repeat of 2013.

I'm already pre-annoyed for going out tonight
I have never gone into a CL semifinal this unbothered. Rationally I know we could very well lose to you guys, you're still Bayern Munich and we're not exactly the 13/17 vintage...and yet. I just can't fathom us not winning this. Not just the semifinal but the final too. It's weird.

So of course you're gonna beat us tonight

Still seems similar to that time they beat Utd then, like I said hard to judge from the highlights from last night. But it just seems like they rode their luck massively for these 2 games like they did against Utd all those years ago. PSG hit the goal frame 6 times over 2 games, had over 40 shots and Kobel made some good saves, that touch he got to the Mbappe shot last night to put it onto the bar was excellent.

Ever since 97 I just have had an irrational hatred for Dortmund, hope they get battered in the final.

The comparison to that match against United was also made by their CEO Watzke in his post match interview, so you are spot on with it.

No disrespect to Dortmund but them getting to the final now makes it even better that city got knocked out of Madrid. I feel city would have beaten Bayern and had an easy final.

Allegedly:

Neuer
Kimmich De Ligt Dier Mazraoui
Pavlovic Laimer
Sane Musiala Gnabry
Kane

Why couldn’t you feckers fire Tuchel months ago and get a bum interim in? Now I gotta worry about another Tuchel masterclass :(
