Lorenzo Buffon (Milan 58-59)
Handy surname for my teamsheet J You don’t spend ten years being Milan’s first choice keeper without being a bit good, nor would Inter take you after. Buffon is widely acknowledged as one of if not the best keeper in Milan history. It’s not that I can think of any real standouts, but, again, he must be at least solid to be in the conversation with FC and SR.
Doesn’t have all that many internationals to his name (15) but that’s to a large extent to not being called up for the NT until 1958, i.e. towards the end of his Milan career, while he had been invited to feature for Rest of Europe against Team GB in 1954.
Again, clearly a solid keeper who will be fine with a bunch of fellow countrymen in front of him. And a brave one too. I like keepers willing to take a hit to get the ball off an onrushing forward: this from an international vs. England in 1961. I'll play his Milan peak so no sequels.

OK chaps, 10 pages of writeups on their way to Aldo and Balu. The only pick I haven't decided on yet is the last one but I should be back then (else they know what two options I would consider and subject to what).
Just so we are clear, I do name quite a few unpicked players but, bar one notorious one that has been clocked since Green Smiley proved he can't count, all the others are pretty much inaccessible and unattainable once I make my next pick, which I can't for the life of me see anyone doing anyway.

Just so we are clear, I do name quite a few unpicked players but, bar one notorious one that has been clocked since Green Smiley proved he can't count, all the others are pretty much inaccessible and unattainable once I make my next pick, which I can't for the life of me see anyone doing anyway.

I sure would have, except that I had Facchetti, so it made that path even less attractive. One thing I found trying to make chains across 80s/90s was that I always wound up with the sort of flank player I needed on the other side of the pitch!
Thus the prompt exit as soon as I got a glimmer of hope to get to the other end.I wonder who that is
