Cesc Fabregas

Still a technically gifted player, but his work rate is major problem. Just yesterday he made a dreadful pass that gave the ball away and didn't bust a gut to get it back, resulting in Perotti's goal. Perhaps that's excusable for an offensive player, but not for a midfielder as loss of possession will likely lead to a key chance.

Judging by past remarks reputedly made by Fabregas, two of his most 'not favourite things' are Mourhino and Man Utd., but not necessarily in that order!

Why do these stories about him coming to OT persist?

Sorry but I don't agree with this one bit. Scholes didn't peak at an older age of Fabregas now, Scholes changed the way he played due to him not being able to get about like he once used to! As good as Scholes was in the holding role, I preferred the goal scoring Scholes he once was before his change.
Would disagree for sure. Scholes was a very good goal scoring midfielder but was he the best in the world at it? Probably not, but with the exception of Xavi no one could do what he did in a deeper position. Anyway, regardless of Scholes' best position the point was that Fabregas is one of the only players in the world that can even come close to Scholes as a passer/playmaker and its something that would improve our squad hugely. It would compliment the qualities of Pogba and Matic perfectly.

Wasn't he one of the snakes in Mourinho's last year at Chelsea? No chance we were ever signing him.

Like Rooney, he never quite reached the heights you imagined when you saw 16-20 year old him.

Also he seems like a bit of a dick.

For several reasons, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near our club. First, he’s certainly not the player he once was, and we’d be getting an expensive player (in terms of wages) with diminishing skills. Second, he passed up the chance to join us previously. I could overlook that for the right player (and considering it was Moyes he’d have had to play under), but it never sits well with me. Third, tactically, I just don’t see him being a fit at all. Fourth, he definitely seems like an arrogant dick. That may be a completely unfair characterization, but it’s the impression I’ve always had of him. Overall...we can do much better. I don’t believe that there’s any truth in this rumour at all.

That's true. He didn't reach the heights what he was capable of when he first burst onto the scene at Arsenal. Moving to Barcelona kinda stifled his progress but then again, he won trophies at Barcelona which he wasn't able to at Arsenal. Not too sure if he did, maybe an FA cup. Expected him to be a far better player than David Silva but I think I would have David Silva in my team ahead of Fabregas.

I honestly would want to give Andreas Pereira & Angel Gomes a chance ahead of Fabregas overhere.

Exactly that, Fabregas from what I’ve seen or heard has done nothing for a couple of years now at Chelsea and wouldn’t improve us at all.

He isn’t a 10, can’t do what Herrera does when we play a midfield 3, can’t do what either Matic or Pogba can do when we play a midfield 2 and would cost us £200K a week just to sit on the bench.

I’m not sold on Ozil coming in January or on a free this summer but he’d be coming in to play either on the right of a front 3 or as a 10 and despite his current form for Arsenal is probably an upgrade on what we have in both those positions whereas Fabregas doesn’t upgrade us and I think Gomes or Pereira are far better options.

As a Chelsea fan, Fabregas was great last year and while we played the attacking football Jose stifled after the 5-3 loss at WHL. He’s also unquestionably flawed, not saying he isn’t, just letting you know. I’m assuming there’s a YouTube video of him while at Chelsea you could watch that could give you a hint to the type of player I’m describing. Totally understand the Gomes/Pereira sentiment. If you didn’t have Pogba, I’d say Fabregas would be needed. He’s not.

He was fantastic today. Put legs next to him and give him a free role that is what happens.

I'm thinking, if Mata and Matic ended up here, then surely Chelsea would be open to listening an offer for Fabregas ? We badly need someone like him in the midfield and although he'll turn 31 this year, it's not a bad age to still make a great impact, and maybe his market value will fall down due to age. Contract expires in June 2019.

Do you just enjoy bumping any old thread? Is that what you use your five posts for.

Why in would we want Fabregas?
