Career has gone downhill since he rejected Moyes.

There is no doubt he is one of the best passers of the ball but his overall game has regressed. He can't get out of tight situations like he used to, meaning his dribbling has regressed. His work rate is also low for a CM.

I liked him when Chelsea played him as deeplying play maker in few games when he pinged passes superbly.

Saying that he isn't worth Pogba money, he is 30 already and his career is going downhill.

He has said also he likes London which would suggest he would be unlikely to move to Manchester.
Agree at 30 you would not want to pay a large sum.
 
The internet stats back you up, I'm questioning my recollection.
 
Sounds like Mourinho is looking for someone he's worked with before for the 10 role in certain games. I think he's realized Miki isn't going to be the player he thought he'd be to link midfield to attack and he can't risk getting yet another 10 that might not work out so he's going after players he knows can play the role he wants, e.g Ozil and Cesc.

Well, The Times have to be up there in terms of reliability of any English paper, so likely something in it.
 
Will be a super back up to Pogba.
 
What a lazy story, he was one of the three rats, no chance Mourinho would ever sign him.
 
Meh....I'd rather we go for a younger emerging player than one who has seen his finer days. Ibra is the exception obviously.
 
Scholes peeked at older than Fabregas is now. This type of player can still improve with age. I'd love this deal tbh and I think a midfield three of Matic, Pogba and Fabregas would compliment each other perfectly.
 
Just a way to get people to accept the eventual Ozil signing. I've got to say it's working with me.

Not for Chelsea he hasn’t, he loves to play deep and scan the field. His legs have been going for quite a bit and probably would’ve been benched by now had we kept Chalobah and Kante/Drinkwater not been injured. Bakayoko has been playing banged up as it is.
 
It has been clear for a while now. He lacks the pace and dribbling ability to play as a #10, he does not have the legs to play in a box to box role and lacks the defensive nous to play as a deep lying playmaker. Wherever he plays he will create chances but, is it enough to make up for all the things he does not bring to the table?
 
I like Cesc.....but I vote No! Let's try for a "younger and fresher" midfield option or just someone who is still on a upwards trajectory. Cesc is not looking so great at the moment and we have enough of that.
 
No thanks, he's done at the very highest level. Any semblance of pressure against him and he'll crumble. Can't create space for himself and he's defensively the worst midfielder I've ever seen.
 
Creek contract negotiation time. Has 2 seasons left (including this ongoing one). Doubt we want to pay money and good wage for someone who may not hold a rotational role. He is liability playing deep sinc his defensive quality is poor and his play making deep is nowhere near the level of Alonso, Scholes, Pirlo... to worth the hassle to build the team to cover his flaw. Not dynamic enough nowadays in midfield 2. He is more third midfielder than no 10, which means he would fill the role to support Lukaku which we need. Perhaps, when he is free agent and we need depth. Not now
 
The only player from Mourinho's meltdown season at Chelsea that continued to be crap after. It's really a problem in him.

He has become a waste of space on the pitch except for some nice passes here and there that aren't enough. He's currently a good player from the bench when you want a solution to break a defense later in the game but not good enough to be a starter.

Mega at creating chances when given the ball and gametime, but his flaws are seriously huge. Can’t defend, can’t run, may well be the easiest central midfielder to run past.
 
Not true. We all know that Fabregas (with Hazard) was one of the players that worked for his sack at Chelsea.

I don't really want this guy here.

He was poor, so poor yesterday against Roma that he will be excellent against us on Sunday,

Sorry but I don't agree with this one bit. Scholes didn't peak at an older age of Fabregas now, Scholes changed the way he played due to him not being able to get about like he once used to! As good as Scholes was in the holding role, I preferred the goal scoring Scholes he once was before his change.

I'd only take him as a 10. Not as a CM. He and Pogba would never work.
 
I really hope this is a joke. He has been shit for a few years now. He's probably the weakest, slowest player in the league.

We all know what the problem with him is.
 
Mourinho would only sign him to torture him. Make him do extra running in training and reject him for a starting place in the team by playing Fellaini, Lingard, Carrick on a mobility scooter, Giggsy and Blind ahead of him.
