He can. And I've heard he may be tempted to move if we were to put a speculative £30m bid in too!

Get on the blower Dave!

I haven't been able to keep on track with Barca this season. Has he been given more game time in the middle? Or is he still being played in 4 different positions like previous seasons. He would be such an ideal buy too :(

With Barca facing City in the next round of the CL...I think they would laugh at us a lot louder in January than they did last summer if we make a bid for Fiberglass...I hope Moyes doesn't do another window of putting all his eggs in 1 basket and only going after 1 player that he hasn't got a prayer of getting.
Realistic targets in the winter would be Herrera, William Carvalho, Di Maria, Remy Cabella, Alex Song,.............absolutely shocking when fans say we should go for Gundogan and Reus and Barkley in January and other players we haven't a prayer of getting......If PSG want Mangala then he will end up there in January too

I hope the people mentioning Reus, Gundogan etc are taking the piss... I personaly dont think we'd get Di Maria either so there you go. People to go for in January will be players near the end of their contracts.

RvP presumably came to United to win trophies, he expected trophies to be a foregone conclusion with SAF at the helm. I'm not so sure he would have been as keen to come, with Shitty's similar offer on the table, if Moyes had been manager last year.

Grinner, dare i say it, has a valid point.

Edit: Just realised that was yesterday's argument.

I think we need Benzema or it's going to be very tough - Giroud isn't clinical enough to get the goals we need (good though his overall game is).

You want clinical striker, and you want Benzema? Surely Benzema and clinical can't go in the same sentence.

Statistics and Real Madrid players, eh...

Well forget the stats then: he's a very talented player who would flourish under Wenger, add a lot to overall attacking play and score 20+ league goals a season. Sounds good to me.

I don't think Mourinho made best use of him at Real and Wenger's been on the case for a long time, that may swing it.

I'm not too sure about that. It was Mourinho who really helped out Benzema in 10/11. He made him work harder. His goal scoring form improved and he played a role in Real Madrid's La Liga winning team in 11/12. With Benzema, it's always going to be about mentality. He does tend to frustrate a lot, but his movement would help. At Arsenal, he'll have a lot more pressure. I think what Arsenal need is competition for Giroud. He doesn't do enough away from home.

I don't think Mourinho did anything much to develop Benzema as the complete centreforward (ie one who scores from chances made by others, makes chances for others and makes goals for himself). That's what Wenger would do.

Mourinho augmented Benzema's confidence. His movement and finishing improvement, but he's still inconsistent. Benzema's role at Real Madrid was to score and create for others, but I think he would do even better at Arsenal - I agree with you on that - because Wenger would give him extra confidence, and the extra space in the PL would be in his favour.

I agree that he is talented, but as MoneyMay said, for Benzema it's all about the mentality, and I don't think he'll ever solve those issues. Few of my mates who support Madrid just hate him because of that, sometimes he just looks too lazy, and his finishing is embarassing quite often for a top player, I think that only reason they are sticking with him is because Zidane likes him. I think he is too risky for Arsenal to go for him, I don't know if he is worth it, even though I like his style of play when on top form.

Mourinho definitely helped him mentally, then he dropped again. He just isn't hungry enough. He could do well at a team were he is looked to as the main goalscorer, it is hard to define oneself in a Ronaldo world.

Benzema's issue does seem to all mental. He has pretty much everything to be one of the best strikers around. He just doesn't seem to have that ruthlessness in the box and drive to be the best. Still time to gain it.

Daily Star....

Although I do think Mata should be converted to a deep lying playmaker.

According to whoscored, player who's been dribbled the most in the Premiership thus far this season?

He stinks at the moment. He is letting nothing players get past him like he's not there.

I commented in the game week 5 thread yesterday that I hadn't heard him mentioned once in the commentary, I genuinely had to go and check the BBC for the lineups after about 80mins of the game to convince myself he was actually on the pitch.

The only time i noticed him was when he took corners. Abysmal performances from him and Mikel. Matic is a one man midfield.

He's looked woeful, in fact all of Chelsea's attacking players have been terrible. Makes me think that Mourinho might have coached the attacking talent out of them.

I would predict a certain Bastian Schweinsteiger (if he puts in a similar performance to yesterday) will make him look like a child when United play Chelsea.

Always been lightweight and if you close off his space, he's borderline useless. Even Anderson did a job on him. Hell Fellaini's form last season catapulted from having a stormer against Fabregas.

Nice one

He's never been good defensively, but playing alongside midfielder like Mikel and Matic there's no excuse for him to be as bad as he has been offensively.

It was extremely strange for Mourinho to get rid off Mata (based on his lack of defensive contribution and such crap) and then buy Fabregas of all ppl!

Not all Mourinhos footballing decisions are rooted in footballing matters.
