De Jong is a very short term solution. If it was De Jong + Vidal I'd be delighted.
McCarthy is a very good player and I think he'd fit well into LvG's system. He would cost a fortune though and he isn't really a big name. It wouldn't appease everybody.
Gundogan is still making his way back from his back surgery, he was looking out of shape in the last pics posted of him.
He'd be ideal if fit. I'd have serious concerns over his long term fitness after some of the reports I read previously.
I'd be delighted with any signing if it was combined with Vidal, Hummels and Di Maria
I don't have an issue with a short term option like de jong if there is a plan behind it with long term thinking. It would be fine to spend £8m - £10m on someone like him if he did the job, held our midfield together nicely for 2 seasons while LVG gelled a top side, no sell on value but it is worth the investment. Does'nt have to be de jong who is that short term option, everyone just mentions him as he is Dutch. Ideally you want a top relatively young midfielder with room for him to improve further and hang around for years but if that option is just not availabe to us now there are other options, and I think we need to take one of them, don't think we have a choice given the competition at the top of the league and the pressure we are under to get back into the top 4.
Vidal is available. What are we playing at?

Whatever happened with Matuidi's contract - thought there was something about him not getting a new contract at PSG. I've rather liked the look of him the few times I've seen him play.

Carvalho has been available since January, I think he's a top prospect and a perfect fit to our formation. I'd pay his release clause and just get on with it, he will end up at a big club and we will regret not being in for him.
Is Adrien Rabiot good enough for our first team? Joao Moutinho at Monaco would be a good option as well. Monaco are in shambles right now and aren't really looking to be investing. With James Rodriguez leaving already and Falcao looking likely to leave, Moutinho could well be looking at jumping ship.
Decent shout. With the addition of Mathieu and maybe Hummels, Mascherano will see very little time at centre back position. As good as he is, he's also not going to displace Busquets from the holding midfielder position, so I guess he'll would struggle to make the team.
If we wanted an out an out defensive midfielder, then there's not much better than Mascherano.
Benitez tried to lure him to Napoli but apparently Mascherano is now feeling valued at Barca or something along those lines.
Oh, right. Wonder if he'll still be feeling valued on the bench? That said, I can imagine he'll get plenty of games under his belt with the amount of games Barca will have, however, when it comes to the big games, I just can't see him being part of their strongest line-up.

Yeah, won´t happen. Barcelona won´t be shocked by having their appeal overturned, so I don´t see them falling into panic mode now. If transfers happen now, it will be ones where they have made their interest known. If there would be even the tiniest possibility of Hummels leaving this Summer, he would have never been named Captain. Neither would have Klopp given him the badge nor would Hummels have been stupid enough to take it.
We should really just go in and match Carvalho release claus. Lots of potential and big fecking unit of a chap. Go for Strootman later and Bosch we are sucking diesel.
Would rather have De Jong over him. But I don't want either of those two anywhere near this club.

Khedira. He's on his way out of Madrid, is available at a good price due to last year of contract and frankly if we don't try for him we are obviously run by bigger imbeciles than anyone thought. In fact he should already be here it's that obvious of a signing.

The price we have to pay for our neglect in this area will be paid either in the form of transfer fees and wages now OR a decline in revenue to the club due to a decline in the ability of the club to compete in Europe.
Do free transfers for Fellaini and Anderson (assuming anyone would take them on a free transfer...we may have to pay a club to take them off our books), let Fletcher have the occasional cameo.
