We are not going to sign anyone until the summer now. I mean how could we, without a permanent manager being in place. That being said, I think we will sign a CB in the summer, and unfortuantely our inept board will also renew the contract of Jones

If we buy a CB, it must be a CB that is good on the ball. I'm really tired of CBs that can't control the ball properly and limit their passing options by themselves.

Woody will claim through the press we don't want to rush a CB signing and will wait for the summer. Hopefully he actually brings someone in during the summer this time.

He is correct in waiting though. This is the trouble having an interim manager. Imagine splashing 60m on a CB who the new manager might not want. We should stick with what we have now until the summer and clear out the dead wood and sign 2 new CB
In certain positions i agree but United should know the type of CB we want and the manager will have to select from a lot of players he didn't sign anyway.
It's not like a manager isn't going to want one of the top shelf defenders we should be targeting
Maguire and Koulibaly. Think those 2 signings would instantly turn our defence from dodgy to great. Probs be talking 150 mil for pair though.

Bailly has had 2.5 years and hasn't gotten any less rash. I don't think he's worth the investment of any more coaching - he's raw and I can't see him changing

I think if we get Koulibaly and pair him with Lindelof we should be very decent next year. Add Sancho to that and we're all good to go for the forseeable future.

Best to wait now. Jones is out of contract in the summer and should be released. I would imagine Rojo, and Darmian will be sold in the summer as they have hardly played. Tuanzebe will come back. We will go into next season with Smalling, Lindelof, Bailly, Tuanzebe (new CB). Although I would let Bailly go aswell and bring in a second CB
Get in an experienced player like Koulibaly and a top quality talent like de Ligt and rotate him with Lindelöf. Keep Jones as a backup and sell Rojo, Bailly and Smalling.
I wouldn't let our Board (analysts) buy anyone to be honest. We have spunked away serious amounts of money. Get a DOF in, and a new manager and let them make the decisions.
First, pick up Alderweirled for £25m in the summer. Then if it's possible try and get De Ligt in.
It might, but i'd still take him over any of our current CB options, which is not saying much to be fair.

RB is OK with Dalot and Young but we need a better LB and two CBs.

I still think Lindelof and Smalling can be a very good partnership with the attacking philosophy we have now adopted. We absolutely cannot waste money again without having a permanent manager and a settled identity and football philosophy in place.
I like De Ligt though, especially his apparent leadership skills and the fact that he is still so young and driven.

Yes, and very solid on the ball. Is that an upgrade worth the money Leicester will want, I'm not sure. But he's English in addition so I would bring him in if I was Woody.
The thing with De Ligt is we have essentially a free run at him now.

Barca has recently bought some kid, Real have other concerns, City dont really need him (although you never know with Pep), PSG are in FFP trouble, Liverpool don't need him, neither does Chelsea and Bayern won't pay 75 mill for a CB (even if they are ready to, looks like they are looking at Hernandez)

I’ve never seen De Ligt play as don’t really watch the Eredivisie.

Not wrong but I have concerns about Smalling's ability to open play. His passing has generally not looked up to scratch but admittedly this might also look different in a team where people actually move into positions to receive a pass. So yeah I'll reserve my judgment on him until I have seen him in our new system.
Jones is the first one out the door in my book, under no circumstances should he be kept
With the exception of Lindelof, our defenders in the last 3 games have kept it simple - not much has changed in that regard so Smalling will be fine too, he very rarely loses possession and his passing stats are fine because he plays it safe. He's just awkward to look at.
No body under 6ft 3in please. We need tall bloke back there who is not afraid to head the ball and not result to karate kicks to clear balls.
