Celebrity Allegations, #MeToo etc

Right, so how did he get this door rigged like this without anyone at the company raising an eyebrow?

I'm sure he made up a convenient excuse that he wanted to be able to lock his door remotely without the hassle of having to get up. He's one of the big bosses there so he likely got anything he wanted without anyone questioning it.

Still bizarre that Media Journos and Hollywood Celebs are held to more account than Politicians.

Look at the infamous Access Hollywood tape, the guy bragging about sexual assault got elected President, the arse-liking douchebag laughing along with him was fired.

Obviously the folks at NBC aren't fans of old movies. In Pillow Talk Rock Hudson plays a womanising cad who has a similar remote lock on the door of his apartment. (As well as a couch that converts to a bed at the touch of a button :smirk:)

Doesn't take much for a company to kick someone out for PR reasons. Shit, companies can kick people out for any reason they make up. Not sure politicians operate at the same levels.

What the feck does that statement mean? I know it's PR nonsense but still, that makes no sense. "I have never been violent" and "her memory... of that evening is very different from mine" strongly jars with "I sincerely and humbly apologize".

Personal growth. Soul searching. Spiritual learning. Seeking treatment.

Pathetic bunch of creepers.

The deathbed conversions are amusing. These guys have been jerks all their lives, and then they develop a conscience, and feel deep regret for the pain their actions have caused, ten minutes after they've been caught.

Some has publicised what they are claiming is the ISP address for MGM archive where all the raw footage from USA Apprentice is kept.....would be interesting if that is true and it gets hacked!

"Three of the women who have accused Masterson were members of the Church of Scientology at the time they say they were raped. Church doctrine says that contacting law enforcement to report another Scientologist is a high crime and will lead to being declared a suppressive person ― meaning that person will be shunned from the church, and their friends and family members who are church members must stop speaking to them.
Despite that edict, Victim B filed a police report against Masterson in 2004. But the case was quickly thwarted when dozens of Scientologists filed affidavits with the LAPD claiming that Victim B wasn’t telling the truth. "

WTF

Scientology is really opaque and bizarre. I've not had a chance to look at Leah Ramini's expose of the following.

The article states that an active investigation is ongoing for at least one of the alleged incidents. If Netflix is holding on to Masterson in this climate they probably know something we don't. Either way their hand will be forced to keep him or let him go once the LAPD announce they'll either be pressing charges or dismissing the case due to a lack of evidence.

WTF

Nothing about Scientologists surprises me anymore.

That Oliver Hoffman exchange was great. All while the other panelists sat there awkwardly

I think that is a telling difference - with no safety net in USA you are always on the raggedy edge and cultures become more accepting of abuse. I worked with colleagues in the USA who said they were petrified to take more than a weeks holiday because if your "cover" on a longer holiday performed better you might be sacked when you got back.

That sort of pressure can't be healthy and must lead to a lot of silent complicity with bad behavior

Channel 4 dispatches on Mohamed al Fayed right now.

Strange how it's considered ok to put this down as a male problem. I thought stereotyping was a bad thing?

It's difficult because although in the majority of cases it does seem that men are the perpetrators, they can also be the victims. If we use the argument that it's mostly men therefore it's male problem with the onus falling on all men to affect change regardless of whether they themselves have been victims or not, could we not also say most sexual assaults are heterosexual and therefore it's a straight problem and that the onus lies with all heterosexuals (male and female) to affect change regardless of whether they themselves have been victims or not.

That's the problem with the broad brush strokes the most vocal on these issues inevitably seem to use.

Yeah I agree. That tweet above putting the issue down to "male lust" stereotypes men as being horny animals who are all capable of sex crimes if just given the right amount power to get away with it.

Well, this is primarly a male problem, especially considering men tend to have most positions of power in culture, politics, business etc.

A young woman is certainly more vulnerable to sexual abuse than the average man in my experience.
