Celebrity Allegations, #MeToo etc

It could be true but it has to be said peadophiles lie about sexual abuse. A few months back I heard a historic child sexual abuse victim calling into a talk show attacking a radio presenter who suggested such abuse could be mitigating circumstances, she claimed the opposite.

It isn’t Spacey saying it and his brother doesn’t mentioned that Spacey was abused, that he was the target. He alludes to Spacey bring some sort of path though. Seems a pretty horrid childhood if it’s true, mind.

I thought it was believe that most paedos were also abused as kids. Could be wrong though.

I realise it's Spacey's brother and I'm alluding to the possibility that he's in on it.

There's no tangible link. Pedos actually coach other pedos to claim they were abused as kids, to either get minimal sentences or to get out early. I've known quite a few victims of child abuse who'd find doing the same to another absolutely abhorent, even more so than a regular person because they've experienced it first hand.

In on it in what way?

Fair enough if there is no tangible link. I thought I had read it somewhere.

Harvey Weinstein’s Army of Spies

The film executive hired private investigators, including ex-Mossad agents, to track actresses and journalists

New Yorker said:
Two private investigators, using false identities, met with the actress Rose McGowan, who eventually publicly accused Weinstein of rape, to extract information from her. One of the investigators pretended to be a women’s-rights advocate and secretly recorded at least four meetings with McGowan. The same operative, using a different false identity and implying that she had an allegation against Weinstein, met twice with a journalist to find out which women were talking to the press. In other cases, journalists directed by Weinstein or the private investigators interviewed women and reported back the details.
Over the course of a year, Weinstein had the agencies “target,” or collect information on, dozens of individuals, and compile psychological profiles that sometimes focussed on their personal or sexual histories. Weinstein monitored the progress of the investigations personally. He also enlisted former employees from his film enterprises to join in the effort, collecting names and placing calls that, according to some sources who received them, felt intimidating.

The Weinstein company and it's lawyers should take heat for this. By having "penalty clauses" of increasing amounts for sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein they have actually incentivised him to conduct elaborate intimidation of potential witnesses rather than "seek treatment" or kick him out of the company.

I have always felt uncomfortable with the description of their being a "rape culture" in an organisation or industry or society at large, but as more and more comes out on this i have to eat humble pie and say i was wrong. It totally mystifies me but yes, there does seem to be a culture out there of people that think it is ok to sweep this under the carpet or excuse the actions of predators because they are riding the back of the beast.

I couldn't live with myself if i worked for an organisation like that.

Browsing through Judd Apatow's twitter feed, he's a lot more likeable than most Judd Apatow films end up being. Unlike someone like Brett Ratner, who is exactly as likeable as most Brett Ratner films. Another creep who always came across as a creep.

It's strikingly curious how little President Tweet has had to say about all these revelations. One would think he'd be revelling in this, given how unpopular he is in Hollywood land. Hmm.
Yeah was wondering the same myself, got to be something in that.

As far as i'm concerned everyone in that freak show know plenty well what's going on, why it's going on, who likes what and how. They enter it knowingly with the hope they might get somewhere. Nobody cares as long as they get what they want. As soon as someone sees a benefit in outing someone, here's your newest outrage America.

Pathetic little shits, all of them. The poor "victims" too. As long as it's not some random kid who really was abused, all other career-for-sex rising stars can go Harvey Stein themselves.

Add Charlie Sheen to the long list. He apparently raped Corey Haim when the later was only 13 years old. There is an excerpt from the divorce papers between him and Denise Richards that looks pretty damning:

By the way, I've seen Jared Leto being mentioned a few times in those discussions. Anybody here who knows what that's about?
Ok, googled some more and apparently there have been multiple accusations that he harassed or even raped fans as young as 15. But nothing really reliable.

Yeah, they were probably asking for it, the slags.

:wenger:

Steven Seagal now? God damn this feels like we're living a Southpark episode. So many stories popping up everywhere, lord know what's true and what isn't!

Still think it's important to maintain the premonition of innocent till proven guilty.

Anyone remember Chloe from Smallville? Apparently she runs a secret sex cult that brands women.

 I saw this on Reddit years ago, I swear it's just a troll story that has taken hold.

I'd imagine every single successful rock band ever will be trawling through their hazy, drug addled recollections of groupie action and wondering which one of them will be coming back to haunt them.

The likes of The Stones and Zeppelin must be shitting themselves

I know, I've googled it and it's all over the press now. It's suggested they met in 2013, I might be remembering wrong but I swear I read that story when she was still in Smallville which would put it before they met. Unless he recruited her because of her sex cult credentials.

Edit - From 2008 and it's about the same cult so who knows?

Yep. At this point it seems like random accusations have a lower burden of proof to meet in the public's eye as they are seen as being part of this overall scandal rather than individual incidents that have to be judged on their own terms.

Generally it's right to treat someone as innocent until they're proven guilty. Cases like the Weinstein one were slightly different as the sheer number of accusers made keeping open mind impossible. That doesn't mean we should treat one off accusations as any more likely than we normally would though.

Agree on Weinstein.
Talking more in line with people like Ed Westwick. Taking a lot of abuse on social media. A lady went on FB, accusing him of rape and a lot of people have already assumed he's guilty.

Would you believe the lady accusing Westwick if someone else also came forward?

I'm not sure how to work in the concept of innocent until proven guilty in some of these cases. If you truly believe in it, then you need to wait for a court's verdict, which would take years. But then again, Cosby's been accused of rape by 60 women and a jury did not find him guilty, so feck do you do?

EDIT: A second woman has accused Westwick of rape.

The premiere of a Louis CK movie has been cancelled. It's rumored to be due to a story from the NYT that will break quite soon. There have been allegations of sexual harassment by Louis CK in the past.

That’s going to upset a fair few people on here.
