Casemiro | United Player

Why the hell did United not go after Tchoumeni? 22 years old.

Instead they are trying to ruin our team.
PSG and the defending European champions were willing to pay 100m for him, you think Manchester United in 2022 is winning that race?? :wenger:

Liverpool's midfield was just workhorse players before they got the likes of Thiago, Keita etc
Yeah but they did miss a DLP. Think thats more the exception not the rule but as you rightly pointed out and it is also what I was alluding to in my post, it def can work. If we can’t get someone like FDJ, this is literally the next best thing.

Classic United. We think (debatable) short-term while we should be thinking long term.

I think he'll be like Varane i.e. severely underwhelming.
This is my worry too. We need young, hungry players ready to step up - not players who are on the come down and want a pay day. How many times do we have to get burned by this before we learn our lesson?

Glazers about to go Bartomeu and load up contracts the new owner has to deal with. What a move.

Murtough desperation

Unsure why you make the point then? It’s totally irrelevant to the discussion.

£59m is not a huge amount these days and he’s literally the best in class DM in the world.

United still want another CM and still retain interest in De Jong. It’s not one or the other.

It seems you have no idea what you’re talking about.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about United trying to get Casemiro, am I in the wrong topic?

Feel free to believe that you're going to get De Jong on top of Casemiro, I'm not convinced.

What I'm saying, and I consider my post very much on topic, is that Casemiro is the best in class with Kroos and Modric and that he looks far less dominant when they're not around, as demonstrated by his somewhat average performances with his NT.

We need a mix.

Staying out of the CL for too long will hinder our recruitment. Getting in someone like this will help us with top 4 and a EL push which in turn brings CL football and provides a bigger, better recruitment pool.

Madrid fans are saying that AranchaMOBILE guy is as legit as they come and doesn't dabble in rumors

He is
I followed his coverage during the Varane saga. Him, Jose Felix Diaz and Mario Cortegana are the go to people for Real Madrid news

Ironically enough, Fred and him have provided a very balanced midfield partnership for Brazil over the last year or so
It’s not ironic: Fred in his element chasing and harassing and not worrying what’s behind him; Casemiro cleans up loose balls, holds position and recycles constantly. They’re a logical and organic partnership. Just need a proper user of the ball amidst them and you’ve got at least an above average midfield. I can’t understand how people wouldn’t want him here.

Yes United are trying to get Casemiro a World class DM. They will play him as a DM. Absolutely no idea why you started going on about him being no good at building attacks because that’s not what we are buying him for.

This isn’t the alternative to De Jong. The club has indicated that and they are different players.

Like I say, I don’t mind this signing if it’s coupled with another midfielder. De Jong, Savic, anyone. But to throw a not-insignificant fee at a 30 year old when the chances are that’ll be that? I’d rather spread the money around I think.

I really hope that he actually said that.

Agent: How much are you offering?

Murtough: A lot. LIke, a LOT. Loads.
£10k a week would be a LOT of money to most people. How do we judge this?

This is a fecking stupid transfer, for the fee and wages involved for a fecking 30 year old defensive mid ffs.
Him being a defensive midfielder is the only point that would actually make this worth it if he came (he won't). I don't understand how some fans repeatedly undervalue the DM position. As important as any on the pitch to balance the team. Without a doubt harder to find then top level attackers

I don't understand how we've gone from showing no desire to play with a legit DM through all of preseason and the first two fixtures to being in a panic and spending big money to go and get one.

The noise is very much this will be with another signing.

Two CMs wanted and the De Jong money still ringfenced.

It will be Casemiro and another.

What could possibly go wrong?

As I said earlier, great player obvs but this speculated fee is ridiculous. 50m was already on the high side. Let alone him actually wanting to come, which would be unlikely.
