Announcing him before the game should be a big no if anyone at the club had even half a brain cell

Keep him away from the ground full stop, he doesn't deserve to begin life at the club with what will more than likely happen tonight

He doesn't even have a visa yet, so don't see how that would be possible in the first place

During the latter parts of Messi's career at Barca Madrid(i think it was Zidane who started it) would have casemiro man marking Messi and it worked great, Madrid had a pretty decent el classico record from then on.

Messi for example had a pretty horrific record in the latter classicos

He's a great man marker so we could always use that part of his game if the need arises.
We havent had a player that kows how to man mark since Ji-Sung Park i think?

We have had so many transfer misses in the last few years.. All my optimism has been wiped away

I feel you bro, if it makes you feel better is that Ten Hag knows the players and its not our horrible scouting department identifying the players;)

watch us do just that.

Why? What’s the worst that’s going to happen?

There is just going to be a peaceful protest? Not like it is a secret?

Still cant fully grasp he’ll be playing for us.

No matter how you turn it and how he turns out, Murtough and the negotiators have done very well in what is their job - convincing a great player in the hardest of times. Wage is big of course, but it still takes convincing to get him here.

He does have a Spanish passport. But Brexit means Brexit, right?

yeah but howcomes a skilled brazilian can still come over here and get a job at the expense of a less skilled scot? hopefully farage is patrolling the channel in his dinghy and cuts casemiro off at white cliffs of dover and sends him packing back to africa

I think announcing Varane before the Leeds game last year worked really well because 1) it was a surprise and 2) there was a feel good feeling around the club anyway.

I don't think doing it with Casemiro will have the same reaction. I hope i'm wrong.

Hes got a busy day today, Real had a class send off ceremony for him this morning before he's set to be unveiled at OT tonight.

Touching stuff and shows just how much he meant to the club. By all accounts Florentino Perez considers him as a son

And people still doubt his quality. It’s like they haven’t watched Madrid play over the last 6-7 years.

Meanwhile their "More than a club" rival...

That's actually really beautiful. Absolute class. What a terrific send-off for a guy who's had a great career at their club.

 Day 1: Believe me, it will be a challenge to get United back at the top.
Day 2: Just realised it will be an even bigger challenge.
Day 20: Case, it will be the biggest challenge of our career.

Wow Real know how to give their great players true send offs, we could learn a thing or two about that.
Too right we could. Ferdinand made a point about it recently. We generally wait until our players are surplus to requirements and treat them as baggage which needs to be taken out the back door.

I really like these send offs they do for their best players, we should copy them but none of our current players deserves one (maybe David i guess).

It helps that Casemiro hasn't acted like a hurt, whiny little prick on the way out like most of ours seem to when the time comes.

What I look forward to the most is the presence and physicality he will bring to our midfield. Hopefully he helps us look more solid, and help build a cohesive defensive unit. That's been lacking for years and years.

De Jong wouldn't bring that to the team. Don't get me wrong, he would bring a lot of other needed qualities. But I like the idea of building the team from the back and forward. There's a bigger chance that someone from within the squad can do what De Jong was intended to do for us (not to the same standard obviously), than what Casemiro will do for us.

If we manage to get a new RB and a calm and demanding keeper, we can't blame the club for not trying to sort us out at least defensively.

Give him the bloody armband

About time we got some proper warrior spirit in the side

Look at all those trophies. What an unbelievable career so far.

David definitely deserves one. 10+ years at the club. He's performed very well for us in that time, won the league with us, and I don't think he's ever caused any trouble at the club or got involved in anything sordid. (at least, not that I can remember). The only other player who has been around for a similar amount of time is Phil Jones.

Unfortunately aside from the title in his first year we won feck all afterwards but yeah, he deserves one on the virtue of his service to the club.
