Meh, should have gone for Rice

I get this is clipped so could have just popped up on someone’s feed but I will never get why United fans give these shows the time of day. This ex-player turned pundit nonsense has never been worse, it’s more hot-takey than American morning sports shows at this point. Expect the remedial bought X should have bought Y argument with any other transfer we make this window.

I don't think he's that kind of player. He can bring his mentality and roughness for sure and if he's good he'll allow players like fred to be a little freer to roam/chase on the pitch but he won't influence other players much in the way they play.

Still, if United was to have even an average version of Casemiro for 2-3 years, it would still be a very interesting upgrade. What he'll exactly bring to the team is totally unpredictable though. Does he make defenders look better or does he need good defenders behind him to be agressive? What will happen if doesn't constantly have quick passing option like he did with Modric/Kroos ? I'm very curious to see but he'll surely bring something to the table.

I think he could help the defense and midfielders but is up to the more offensive players to take advantage of it. If they stop being spanked by the rest of 19 teams in the premier league a grind out a draw it would already be a massive contribution. They have been brutal so I think they still need more reinforcements in midfield and another forward.

It’s mental to think these were just some of the posts in here 3 days ago when the news broke. Dont worry, I thought it was a load of bollocks too! But what a whirlwind few days!

You have a lot of time on your hands!

How long will his visa take? Can he not start training without it?

Not happy with that, need him ending half these players careers in training asap.

Joel tries to present the new "shiny toy" to the fans once again.

I'm really sorry for Casemiro that he'll start his playing time with us like that because its nothing to do with him.

Anyone else still amazed we've managed to buy a DM? and the best in the world at that? Incredible.

He was probably one of the last players I'd thought we would ever sign going into this summer.

Want to get EVEN more excited about this guy?

Have no fear i got you! :D

I mean at Real he can defend and give the ball to Modric/Kroos.. But in our case.. The ball will come back again as we can not hold the ball..
So we will have to see how he does

One of those deals that seems good for both teams. It's an outstanding fee for Madrid, and a risky move to push ahead the development of Camavinga and Tchouameni, and United get some much-needed experience in midfield. It's win-win for everybody, and finally United actually makes an exciting recruit.

Plus Barca not getting the money they needed…

During the latter parts of Messi's career at Barca Madrid(i think it was Zidane who started it) would have casemiro man marking Messi and it worked great, Madrid had a pretty decent el classico record from then on.

Messi for example had a pretty horrific record in the latter classicos

He's a great man marker so we could always use that part of his game if the need arises.

So it’s official, this is the “statement signing” of the 22/23 campaign.

We have had so many transfer misses in the last few years.. All my optimism has been wiped away

I'm optimistic he'll do well for us and actually help us improve our defence....The worries lie with the team being shit and him having to do too much work. But he should transform the work ethic of that team. ITs not about his ability as a CDM which is important..its his experience and winning mentality that will galvanize players around him.

But I believe ETH will build to utilize him at least for the next 2 years. Reckon we should get the best out of him for 2 years. Last 2 years he can be the figure head/ experience guy that helps off the bench until we find an new younger CDM.
