Scored 2 goals and played like absolute garbage defensively. Though, to be fair, Musiala is impossible to tackle, but that's not even the criticism. Tracking runs. Horrendous. But I have faith that it'll look much better with Amrabat in for Eriksen who is a non-entity defensively (doesn't help he plays the same side as Rashford either).

Sadly he’s finished. Not even in the picture for some of the goals.

He's class but I'm afraid his legs are wobbly. He'd be the perfect signing for a Saudi club though.

For the rest of the season we need to stop with him next to Eriksen.
Try him and Hanibal until mainoo and amrabat are available

Surely the last time we see Eriksen and Casemiro together.

I’d go with Amrabat as the 6 and him as more of an 8…. which is essentially what he is doing already

Him with Eriksen as a 2 lacks any sort of legs. Eriksen looks totally finished.

Positives: 2 goals, a couple of decent passes from deep, and a few good blocks / interceptions, didn’t give up

Negatives: diving in for no reason, slow at times, sloppy in possession

His job is to sit, block attacks and when in possession help control the game, he did neither, mind you he had no help. Hes always a threat in the opposition box though.

He looks done. I don't care about the goals, but his legs look dead.

If this actually turned out to be true and he's truly done, it would be hilarious. We basically paid +60m for him just to have one good season in which the best we achieved was winning a League cup.

We could compensate for Casemiro's roaming if we had a Fede Valverde or Eduardo Camavinga in there with him. When it's Eriksen though, you are just leaving too much ground to the opposition.

I'm hoping the addition of Amrabat/Mount's running into the team alongside him will help see him through the season.

But it's a bad sign that we're already at the "he needs legs alongside him" conversation stage in just his second season. Though that's the risk when you sign that profile a player.

I still have hope he'll transform when he has Amrabats legs next to him

Same here. He does enough good stuff where you think with a better balance around him he can still be really effective. Not long term obviously.

No idea why we have him so far up the pitch at times though. Just sit in front of that back four.

Managed to score twice but was utterly wank apart from that.
Midfield controller? Not for me Jeff.
Unless he gets his act together mainoo and Hannibal should be getting more starts.

Another poor performance. Legs are gone. Crazy how it happens in the space of a few months, but it was the same with Ronaldo.

Real Madrid thanking us every day for paying Casemiro's pension, just like we did with Mata and Matic from Chelsea.

We signed Mata at age 25. There were many things wrong with that signing but he wasn’t quite at pensionable age!

He needs another holding midfielder alongside him nowadays. Got absolutely destroyed by Musiala. Hope Amrabat is ready to play soon.

Never thought he'd get this many goals for United when he signed. I don't think he's been as bad as people are saying i just think he's isolated in the midfield and there's too much ground he has to cover. His passing accuracy seems a bit sharper just lately too which is good to see.

Awful today, but somehow came away with 2 goals
He was ok, he played that sumptuous first time ball through to Bruno who then kicked Kim in the head. Some errors but also did good things and scored 2. The other CM is a bigger issue, lot of people praying Amrabat is good right now.

An ageing attacking midfielder who literally died 2 years ago being run into the ground by a clueless manager playing him in a busy midfield role next to another has-been. Play him at #10.

Regarding Casemiro, he should be used at centreback to see if there’s anything to salvage from him there, because he’s physically incapable of playing in the midfield now.

Tactical wise, It's very difficult to track runs against Bayern set up around Kane. Kane would drop off for their two wide attackers to make run to approach our goals. Almost all Bayern players are players that can make bursting run forward, yet still maintain good recovery space at the back. That includes their 2 CBs. It's difficult to man to man marking, let along overload when our midfield counting wide attackers are either lightweight, slow and smeek.

We lost the team game this game over 90 minute really. We just gambled/ we're forced to play for patch during the game.

I'm starting to think this is his decline and not just a slow start to the season. Get him off to the Saudi league next summer. Varane as well.

It's not a big deal if it's related to a decline as it probably is. The age 30 decline is pretty real for everyone. Plenty of players decline but you adapt as a team to hide the decline and showcase what they are still elite at, or you manage their fitness better. And I think Ten Hag knows this. He bought Amrabat for a reason, so that he could partner Casemiro in the deep areas but also rotate in for Casemiro on occasion. There's no reason why Casemiro still can't look like a world class midfielder once the team looks more balanced. It's a completely different job what he'll have to do when partnered with Amrabat compared to being partnered with Eriksen.

Fair points. Casemiro hasn't really had anyone to step into his role when he needs a rest.

That said, when I look at the best teams in this league, their holding midfielder has the quality that Casemiro still has plus a bit extra.

City have Rodri who isn't the fastest but has a great shot and pass on him.

Arsenal have Rice who is just better at most things than Casemiro is these days.

I agree that with proper game management Casemiro could still look good-great this season. However his contract runs for a couple years after this one which is why I think we should look to sell in the summer.

Casemiro is still among the best in the world at what he does. Rice is more physical and gets around better, but he's safer on the ball and just isn't quite as good at reading the play as Casemiro. Rodri is class yes. But also plays in a more balanced team. Casemiro has more than enough to be a key player for a top team, you just gotta balance the midfield around him. Can't have him cleaning up everything.

I'll wait to be happily proven wrong then. He just seems half a yard or so off the pace compared to last year. While his reading of the game, passing, and crashing of the box hasn't changed much, that half yard of pace is just so important in the premier league. Somehow the same Midfield didn't get walked through last season like it is this.

Edit: in my head this is similar to Matic. He came in and gave us 6 months or so of great performances, then the legs went. That didn't make him a bad player as he's over at Roma now but it did make him unsuitable to the Premier League.

Oh I agree! I just think it's solved relatively easily by not playing next to a 0 off the ball player like Eriksen is (not to shit on him much, but even if he was fully fresh, he wouldn't provide much in games like this in a deeper position... but he has also played multiple games in a row now for club and country, and the majority of each of those games). It's not a surprise that we've had big gaps in midfield. I'm sure Ten Hag plans to do this, he signed 2 players capable of it.

Hopefully when Mount/Amrabrat are fit, ETH relegates Casemiro to the bench during our toughest games.

You've won me over. I'll wait until the end of the season to judge Casemiro one way or the other. That should be enough time for ETH to find a balanced midfield and/or rest Casemiro as needed.

He should not be playing more than 1 game a week. Hopefully when we have other midfield options available, it should be better.

Honestly feel him and Amrabat will be a good combination in a double pivot and will play to our strengths as a team.

I tend to believe that ten Hag sees Amrabat and Mount as his long term pairing behind Bruno. No idea if this is good enough but at least these 2 got the legs.

Maybe Amrabat and Casemiro together is the answer. Casemiro does have an eye for goal and can play those clever passes in the final third. Just because he can't hold on his own doesn't mean he's done at this level.

If nothing else, we need to shore up defensively to steady the ship and get some results.

Long term I think ETH doesn't have Casemiro or Bruno, Mount is Bruno replacement, clearly shown already he is not going to play him deep, not sure who replaces Casemiro or who plays alongside him.... I am on about long term though not this season... maybe ETH still has designs on FDJ?

More proof that the redcafe player ratings are a farce. Second highest rated player for us last night.

To be fair, that was the worst performance while scoring a brace. Its supposed to break any model, let alone a rating system.

I mean, nobody bar Reguilon and Hojlund (joint 2nd in the ratings) played well - at least he has 2 goals to his name so that should bump up his rating... a 6.0 is too high though, I'd give him a 4 or 5/10
