*nods head in sage agreement, sipping coffee ...*MOTM yesterday - class performance.
*Splutters coffee out in disagreement, thanking feck we don't have to see that injury prone pile of trouble here anymore*Seeing him alongside a fully fit Pogba would have been brilliant.
We should be getting rid of Fred asap. Awhile back I thought Mctominay had to go but he's been decent under ETH. Fred has gone to pieces. We can only have so many technically mediocre footballers. He did do some nice passes he should basically be Fred's REPLACEMENT. I mean Fred is 29 and Case is better at everything. I don't see why we store these players and don't try to offload in the summer. Signing Cas is the perfect opp to release Fred once and for all
Heck, you can even play Bruno beside him and slot another attacking player up top
He's probably still world class. I get the impression he really wants to get us back to the top as well, I don't think this is just a pay day for him.Massive improvement on McTominay. He is a defensive midfielder who has quickly become one of our most creative players.
xA - 1.11 (xA per 90 - 0.39)
McTominay:
xA - 0.02 (xA per 90 - 0.00)
Also, he is much better defensively:
McTominay (2.3 tackles per 90 ; 1.5 Interceptions per 90) - 3.8 total per 90
Casemiro (5.5 tackles per 90 ; 2.1 Interceptions per 90) - 7.6 total per 90
Gets far more involved, also:
McTominay passes per 90 - 33.8
Casemiro passes per 90 - 64.9
Night and day.
Oh good lord, I can't believe there are still believers in this guy around here. I'm so glad we don't have to watch that bum jog around the pitch anymore, the dark cloud is gone.MOTM yesterday - class performance. Seeing him alongside a fully fit Pogba would have been brilliant.
Think Fred is out of contract in the summer so he’s likely gone by next season. He did do some nice passes he should basically be Fred's REPLACEMENT. I mean Fred is 29 and Case is better at everything. I don't see why we store these players and don't try to offload in the summer. Signing Cas is the perfect opp to release Fred once and for all
Good thing he’s played against better opposition many times before in his career, including at a higher level than the EL, most recently in a CL final in which he was the best outfield player on the pitch. And over the course of the season he won more tackles and was dribbled less often than Fabinho, one of the best DMs in the league and a player he keeps out of the Brazil team. So he might have some idea how to play against better opposition.
This is the most important stat. Statistically, all of our midfielders over the past 2-3 years were pretty much bang average in terms of passes per game. Casemiro averaging 65 a game puts him around 90th percentile. It's so important to have a midfielder who not only shows for, but actually plays the ball around the middle of the pitch.Gets far more involved, also:
McTominay passes per 90 - 33.8
Casemiro passes per 90 - 64.9
Yeah, if only they played 15 games together, then Pogba might have had one good performance, and man, that could have been amazing... or Pogba would have put a spell on him or something, who knows.MOTM yesterday - class performance. Seeing him alongside a fully fit Pogba would have been brilliant.
Where’s the fecking idiot who moaned we were ‘stuck with him’.
There’s quite a few who’ll be deleting posts in here. Embarrassing claiming he was a waste of money when he barely even played.Where’s the fecking idiot who moaned we were ‘stuck with him’.
I hate to say it but am I ever wrong about a new signing. This guy is finished, Madrid sold us a dud. No wonder Ten Hag doesn't start him. He doesn't suit the type of football Ten Hag wants to play. He's a destroyer type DM and what we need is a possession based DM like Carrick/Busquets. It's another 60m down the drain and he'll probably just be a last 10 minutes off the bench player which is what he should be at most. Early days I know but I don't think he's going to be a good player for us, he's another player that lacks mobility like Maguire and they struggle in the premier league. Clearly he's not as immobile as Maguire, but he's not the quickest and not the youngest which is going to cause him problems.
It's early days I know, but I'll be proven right unfortunately. I've never been wrong in my judgement.
