Caftard GT Race Team

How is this going to be in terms of cars/tracks? Will it be from garage or chosen?

I put GT5 aside to study for a few weeks and formatted my PS3 so don't have garage cars / money to race with (didn't have many anyway). But I won't mind installing it again if it's to race with caftards, if it's with the arcade defaults.

Yeah, I saw, but can I access those cars on the online lobby? I don't have to buy them or unlock them in any way? Can I just go to the internet and race an F12010? Not that it helps me much if I can't practice with it on single player arcade though...

Theres a basic list of cars that you get in Arcade mode and then you can pick from a garage. Trying to trade my Formula GT for an F10 as we speak so we can use that.

If you look carefully i've picked mostly cars in that list if everybody can't use my cars. I believe the Evo, Camaro, Lambo Lp 560 and Calsonic GTR are all available to use without having to own them in GT life.

Considering that Legend has basically golded the game, you may have a problem.

Legend's very good, played online with him in launch week and couldn't get near him.

BTW, exactly what updates are we waiting for before we get this thing going? Just a little concerned that we'll lose the interest if we leave it too long. We've just had the online damage update, what else is due?

I'd like to do this, but I think I might be too late. Won't have GT5 till Christmas nor will I have broadband till at least then either.

Don't suppose you can enter as a late entrant? just for the craic?

Which is why IMO all of the races should not have restrictions on them from the ability to use driving line to assists, let each person use what they want. People with wheels and that have already driven a certain car for example already have an advantage. This is supposed to be a bit of fun, not soley a technical exercise.

I agree with that, what we want is the closest most enjoyable races we can achieve and if that means people using whatever assists they want then so be it.

I can image what will happen with the F1 car with people that have never touched it before, they'll all go flying off at the first corner. They simply will not understand how early you have to brake with it, nor how nimble it is.

I went back to Prologue before to test the differences between the games. The full GT5 feels totally different. The F40 in Prologue for example was very nimble and quite twitchy, felt light, in GT5 it feels much heavier. God knows what the difference is with the F1 cars, but it's sure that the first time in them will not end well.

Yep, driving assists should definitely be available for who wants to use them. We can do some practice laps before starting the race though, while we wait for everyone to be ready etc.

But if driving assists make a good driver slower than why not allow them for whoever wants to use them? All it does is reduce the difference between the very good and the inexperienced, and the very good don't need that difference anyway.

I'd like to have a hour or so before the race for free practice too, give everyone a chance to get a feel for the cars before racing.

I think thats a good idea for those that want the option. When we do finally get going I don't think I will use my wheel anyway, I didn't last time we were online but you can definatly go seconds faster with it. Obviously if someone like marchi turns up and destroys us then I am using it!

I'm in, although I'll be pissed. 18th is the day we have organised for our mates party where we stuff ourselves silly and drink silly amounts, but I drive better drunk in any case - silly mistakes aside of course.

IMO.. just my opinion.

Racing should be set on one set of standard car.

You can fine tune it or tweak abit, but certain restriction or limit apply, that'll certainly pit the "skill" vs "skill" , at least among friends.

It's not a contest when i'm driving a Jazz vs. Ferrari.

Perhaps it can be sort on random car of the day / week, something common everyone can use. And to erase the starting line up you can add a handicap if you start 1st or 6th.

Races are standardized, it's a choice between two similarly powered cars (or even just one) for everyone. It's on the OP.

The Man, the Myth, the Leg-End.

Shouldn't judge me on the golds, it only takes time.

I wouldn't limit the number of spots available marchi. You'll never be able to fill the whole set anyway, people aren't always available. In extreme circumstances if everyone showed up you could leave out the last ones, but I sincerely doubt that ever happens. Just look at the poker thread, an average turnout of 10-20% max on good days (I pulled this number out of my arse but I don't think it's far from the truth.

I for one will be going on holidays to Azores next Saturday so will only be racing from January on.

Anyone had a practice yet?

Managed a 59.636 in the Evo, not sure how that stacks up against you lot though.
