Bundesliga 2017/18

I'd say Bayern will officially become champions on March 18th when they beat Leipzig away. . . with 7 matches to play.

Has the BL ever had such a champion declared so early?

Under Pep we also were champions in march, not sure if after same number of match days.

You're right.

Bayern won the Bundesliga on 25 March 2014 which was also match day 27 (as their match v Leipzig will also be).

3 of the top 6 teams have a goal difference in the single digits. Schalke, as 2nd, +9, 4th place Eintracht +6, and Leipzig +4. This is ridiculous. Laughable. This league should be ashamed of themselves.

In the treble season it was matchday 28. In the year after with Pep it was matchday 27 - Bayern actually was better in points then as they had not lossed a match and only drew twice until then. But the second was better then, too.

Greetings Caf!
I finally registered after a long time lurking. I´m 35 years old and a Bayern Munich fan. (Yeah, another one) ;) . I wish everyone a good day.

Schalke beat Mainz away thanks to a great goal from Caligiuri. Didn't know he could play for Italy, as his parents are from Calabria.

Didn't he get called up for Italy a few years back?

Mainz heading for the relegation play off, could do worse than sack their present coach and get Dave Grohl back for the run in.

7 points + GD with eight games left, but Mainz and Wolfsburg are so awful, I´m still not 100% convinced.

Aaand after two pens, of which Lewandowski missed the first and scored the second, we now have 6-0. :D Aaww, there's the whistle already. :( ^^

Bayern vs Hamburg over the last 8 seasons:

10/11: 6-0
11/12: 5-0
12/13: 9-2
13/14: 3-1
14/15: 8-0
15/16: 5-0
16/17: 8-0
17/18: 6-0

Is there any other fixture in European football that even comes close to that?

Hard to believe that not too long ago HSV were doing pretty well at the Allianz Arena....

Ribery with a run right from his best times - 5-0 :drool:

His first one:

And again one of this special passes from Boateng from the back

And Arjen's goal:

Was important that the old guys get enough confidence for the rest of the season.

Some so called fans have put crosses up at HSV trainings ground and a banner that tells - "you're time is gone - we will get all of you"... sick!!!

Hamburg have nothing left in the Bundesliga.

The season they're having is what we had in 15/16 and Sunderland did last season.

When you survive relegation by the skin of your teeth so many times there's one year when it just peters out.

You are right. But it is a selfmade crisis because of how they performed business the recent seasons.

Just - it does not allow any fans to react like this - and fear for sure does not help the players to perform better.

TBF my post was more directed at the users who still think they will stay up.

Anyway posted this question in the Leon Bailey thread but it will probably disappear....

Everytime I've seen Leverkusen this season Alario has impressed me. He has 8 goals in 17 games which isn't too bad for his debut season.

Has he got enough about him to follow the path Berbatov made from those who watch him more regularly?

I fully expect Hamburg to stay up. Just watch them winning 3 games in a row and overtaking Mainz.

Mainz have home games left against 'Gladbach, Frieburg and Bremen on the last day who'll be safe by then I reckon.

They'll pick up some points from those games so Hamburg's going to need to win 4 or 5 to overtake them I reckon.

I‘ll file this under „reversed jinx“.

I‘m dead serious. It’s Hamburg. We know how this works. Their squad isn’t actually bad, they will win against Hertha (who are terrible) and pick up another 10 points after that. Then they’ll beat Nuremberg in relegation (0-0 t home, 1-1 away). Mark my words.

They need to change the coach today or tomorrow. How many games Hollerbach haven't won? 25?
Hertha is beatable, they aren't good. Let them win one game and they will hope again.

Didn't Hertha only draw with Bayern the other week?

The panic people go into thinking Hamburg actually won't go down. :lol:

Edit:

Recent away results for Hertha

Leipzig 2-3 Berlin
Bayer Leverkusen 0-1 Berlin
Bayern Munich 0-0 Berlin.

Conclusion easy home win for Hamburg.

They have scored 18 goals in 26 games and have the following games remaining:
vs Hertha
@Stuttgart
vs Schalke
@Hoffenheim
vs Freiburg
@Wolfsburg
@Frankfurt
vs Gladbach

They are 7 points and 9 goals behind the relegation spot.
I see them getting 8 points from the games above: wins against Freiburg and Wolfsburg and draws agains Stuttgart and Hertha. Even if they manage 1 or 3 points more their chances of finishing 18th or 17th should be at 95%.

Happened to Coventry eventually as well.

Difference is previous seasons they've been loitering where Bremen/Wolfsburg currently are and dropped in last two months. Pretty sure one of the play off seasons they lost their last 5 league games but only survived as Paderborn I think lost their last six.

This season they are well adrift and need to win 3 games just to have a chance. They can barely score a goal.
