Bundesliga 2017/18

Didn't know Schalke had signed Pjaca. Home debut goal for him.

Goretzka starts for Schalke, despite the bs Tönnies uttered.

Given how Tönnies and Heidel did their best to stir up the fans (:wenger:) I'd say the fan's reaction is rather tame.

Goretzka did stop Hannover's attack and won the ball that led to the 1-0, though.

Anyway, someone taking offense in Goretzka's transfer would be better off collecting stamps for a hobby. He's not a homegrown academy boy for Schalke but was taken from a smaller club just as he is now taken from a bigger club, he saw out his 5-year contract without throwing tantrums like it is common for players nowadays, he didn't swear eternal allegiance to the club or anything.

The guy really is in a tough position. For all we know he might want to stay in Germany for personal reasons (family / GF etc) and thus moving to Bayern he'll increase his salary, guaranteed to win titles and challenge in the CL - but at a cost of alienating the fans who have chanted his name for years.

Or he can move abroad, possibly earn more but move away from Germany. Or the guy is a Bayern fan and simply preferred to move there.

If I were him I'd probably have done the same rather than move to Arsenal or Liverpool

Schalke fans are awesome. I hope they whistle Goretzka out of their starting lineup and suffer for it. Bunch of salty dicks.

Would be funny if they missed the CL over that bullshit.

Nobody wants to be second in that league. Now 16 points ahead.
Bayern with 47 points.
4 teams with 31 points (Leverkusen, Schalke, Leipzig, Gladbach)
2 teams with 30 points (BVB, Frankfurt!)

The Bundesliga table since Heynckes is Bayern coach (from matchday 8 to 19)

Those were the nineties. Alcohol and cigarettes were considered normal things to consume during HT back then

Unless I'm missing something completely obvious, why don't Bayern just sign him now for a small fee?

Because we get him for no fee at the end of the season, and probably send one of Vidal or Rudy on his way first. Vidal.

As GhastlyHun said, somebody has to leave first. There’s no room atm.
And to now make a panic sell of Vidal and be down to Tolisso and Goretzka when it comes to the CL also makes no sense. They don’t need Goretzka for the league and without getting to know Bayern’s playing style he‘d be of no bog help in the CL.

The same reason why we do not get Sanches back from Swansea even if with the two Hermanns and Heynckes we now have coaches that are able to develop young players. But - there is just 2 places in midfield for Martinez, Vidal, Tolisso, Thiago and Rudy - today with Müller and James playing centrally there was even only one place.

It is an art even to keep this players happy.

And as Acrobat7 says - in midfield it does not make any sense to play a new player that has not had a preparation with the team - it might be different for individualists in the offense or special cases like Alonso. Martinez or Vidal all needed atleast half a season to adjust.

Heh, makes sense. How bad were the stories?

Open warfare between Matthäus, Klinsmann and a few others, everyone against Sforza and Herzog, Mario Basler getting in a barfight while on rehab, Kahn strangling Herzog during a game, Lizarazu following suit bitchslapping Matthäus during training, Hoeneß lashing out against Sutter, the only player with a professional lifestyle ("he should stop eating granola and eat a healthy roast pig", Augenthaler, Basler and others publically smoking and boozing, Kahn dropping his wife to shag a barmaid, Matthäus shagging a long row of under-18 brunettes. All united against Ribbeck, Trappatoni and Rehagel.
At that time, several players were in bed with the "Bild" tabloid, as was then-president ans sometime coach Franz Beckenbauer, so there was no shortage of media stories and details. Those pundits who didn't have "exclusive access" just needed to make sure to be at the "P1" club every night, articles practically would write themselves.

Oh yes, and here is Stefan Effenberg with his wife, former wife of teammate Strunz:

PENALTY for Hoffenheim
Ulreich saved from Gnabry, but Uth scored from the rebound.

Any objective BL watcher can tell me, is there any future for Luka Jovic? Saw he scored last night but not sure how many minutes he is getting and whats his overall play. Wondering is he good enough to replace Mitrovic or we are stuck with that lunatic.

On the whole Dortmund´s best player this season scores: Kagawa. Not that it takes much to be Dortmund´s best player this season.

I guess we're missing Martinez horrbily today, but him being out is no excuse for this performance so far.

Petersen again. Wonder what career he would have had, if he did not move to Bayern too early.
