Bundesliga 2016/17

Our kids on the wings rip the defense apart with ease. Very strong start by both Dembele and Mor.

Dembele needs to cut stuff like this out, eventhough the yellow was a bit of a joke after Freiburg got away with three tactical fouls before. Bundesliga refs are cúnts when it comes to that.

Dortmund just all over them now. And they're playing great football. The kind of football you only see City play in the PL currently, and sometimes Liverpool.

Yup, I think Tuchel's the real deal. I rate him above Klopp. We need to be all over him when if he ever decides to move, he ticks all the boxes.

12 Mil. € ladies and gentleman. Steal of the transfer window.

i may repeat myself here, but i do love that little portuguese frenchman.

I'm so envious of Dortmund's energy and enthusiasm. No one slows down play, except Weigl when it's needed. When they lose the ball they all work so hard to get it back. The team always wants to score more goals. It's refreshing to see in modern football.

How fecking great is our offensive depth, though? To be able to field a very strong starting eleven and bring a fresh Guerreiro from the bench. And that without Schürrle and Reus.

Aubameyang, Adrian Ramos, Gotze, Schurrle, Reus, Dembele, Pulisic, Mor, Kagawa

Great game from us, and from Freiburg. Hope we keep it going like this.

yeah, i might finally join in on the dembélé hype. i did like him tonight, i felt he really really wanted the ball, and he did really good. his odd movement is beyond the regular dribbling, which is great to watch and must make a defender crazy.

btw that freiburg back four was class imho! i hope they go on like that and fare well.

Dortmund have the best network of scouts in the world. And that Weigl guy.. Mou needs to get on the blower now.. Just get him here..

btw, did weigl do THAT MOVE already during last season? i mean THAT MOVE when he pulls himself out of a close pressing situation, often being attacked by two players, and then whoops he doesn't drop back, he suddenly turns, somewhat counter-intuitively, and moves forward right through them, with the ball super close to his feet? i love that.

I blame Susi for that

What you guys are doing over there is remarkable.. Great work to keep that squad ticking year after year. Loosing 5 players for this season but even without Schurrle and Reus putting this fluid and attacking team on the pitch is just crazy.. Great fecking job BVB.

Wasn't that impressed by Dortmund tonight, though I probably went into the game expecting to see an exceptional team on the basis of what I'd read. In the end it was a comfortable score line but at times they made it hard for themselves, and they weren't that clinical up front. Curious to see how it goes against Real. They have some ridiculously talented players though, Guerreiro and Dembélé

Dortmund are the most exciting team in Europe right now, their young wide players are so dynamic, Weigl, Castro and Guerreiro offer great variety in midfield and Auba is one of the top 5 strikers in the world.

Just another Tuchel display.

2 questions to the Dortmund supporters:
- Do you prefer the style of football under Klopp or Tuchel more? I know there are some subtle differences.
- Overall, and based on what you've seen from Klopp and Tuchel so far, would you be able to say one is clearly better than the other? Has Tuchel solved anything that has been a problem under Klopp, and on the other hand, is there anything the team did better under Klopp compared to Tuchel?

Yeah I agree, they've been good but not as great as the recent score lines suggested. It's more of a thing how impressively good they've coped with all the squad changes and how quickly they've integrated their new signings. Losing 3 of their chore while signing lots of relative unproven youngsters I expected them to take longer but they've done great. And they've repeatedly seemed to get bargains compared to the rest of Europe in Guerreiro and Dembele.

I think Tuchel has been easily the better coach for the league. Klopp's football is either 110% at all times or you've got a big problem, Tuchel's team is much better at dominating and controlling a game and thus isn't constantly as demanding as Klopp's football. This also leads to a better abiltiy to rotate for Tuchel and more consistency, because the team's attacking thread is much less reliant on individual players or Gegenpressing - I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of season he didn't play the same lineup in a row even once. This has seemingly also led to injuries going significantly down at Dortmund.
Tuchel and his approach remind me a lot of Pep. Obviously he doesn't have the same prestige or trophy haul, but I think he is capable of dominating the league to a similar extend (he basically already did last season). Build-up and control/dominance and breaking the bus during matches were (relatively speaking) always Dortmund's biggest problem under Klopp and he turned that into one of their biggest strengths right from the get go.

Now for cup competitions/big matches I'd give Klopp the edge. His problems with sustaining the effort during the daily grind don't come into play here, he's probably one of the best motiavtors in the world, his teams have made some very crazy comebacks and his style gets more effective the better(attacking) the team is. I think there are only a hand full of coaches at best who are better at than him.
With Tuchel the sample size consists basically of only one season (no disrespect to Mainz), so I'm not really comfortable judging him there. I think against Bayern the team improved in each of the games and it was more down to the players than tactics that they didn't win any of them, but against Liverpool Klopp got the better of him twice.

In terms of aesthetics both are great coaches and they both prefer exciting attacking football.
