Bundesliga 2016/17

Kuba will always receive a warm welcome from our support. He personifies a lot what the core support loves about players. He can seriously be considered a legend of the club, probably more so because of his personality and commitment than just his individual quality.

Our CEO Watzke eloberated a bit about the transfer in an interview a few days ago. We offered him to stay until the end of his contract but also made it clear that it would be for the FB positions and there also more in a standby capacity. Kuba wanted to play consitently, though, and as he also wished to stay in Germany as his family is settled down here, so there were not many options as his salary was pretty high with us. In the end Wolfsburg was the only one willing to meet his personal demands. To make this transfer happen we went down a lot with our transfer fee demands (we could have gotten double or tripple of that from a EPL club). This alone should show the gratitude the club officials felt for Kuba.

Watzke also said that it might not be the last Dortmund have seen of Kuba and even named a possible post playing career position (brand ambassador for the East European market) for him. I have no doubt that if he would be willing to work for the club again, there would be an open door waitiing for him.

man that was a weird match. i was sure we were gonna bottle this for a good 20min. can i also poop the party by saying that i dislike the amount of minutes that dembélé is getting atm? i am still to see him win a defensive duel, like, EVER. plus ginter is shit, and if bartra will really be out for the real match, well, let's just hope for the best. by the way: what's up with bender? will he be back anytime soon? somebody please say yes.

You do realize that he needs this game time to fully adapt to the league and his role, right? Plus, it is not like we have that many great alternatives there. Mor is hardly defensively more sound than Dembele and works better as impact sub. The others are makeshift options like Castro or Ramos there. We need Schürrle back asap so he is in good shape for the Madrid game.

I do agree that Ginter simply not impresses as CB and unless he steps it up soon he will either have to live as his role as versatile squad player or (and this is more likely) leave the next Summer. Bender won´t be back for a while as he still suffers from his foot injury from the Olympic tourney and can´t train because he is in too much pain.

If Bartra is truly out for a few weeks, it does not bode well for the Madrid game. We are then left with only two real options. We either come out with immense intensity and somehow try to outscore them or go for a really defensive formation (compact three man midfield consisting of Rode, Weigl and Castro and Guerreiro and Götze/Schürrle on the flanks) and somehow try to sneak a win or at least a draw. Even a loss would not be the end of the world as our most important opponent in the group stages is Sporting.

Me, too. And i guess Dembele would not got so much minutes if Schürrle would be fit already. But you can see a clear development from him even in that short time since he arrived. Ginter has to be better. Hope Bartra is not out for a long time, his pass for the 1:0 was that thing i want to see from him. How long Bender is out i stell dont know. Rapha outclassed everyone, its so crazy to see that he is our shiny new CM, and we can easily change the system and TT moves him to the left forward and Castro or Rode in the center.

Win 5-1: Still got things to bitch about... Seems Dortmund left the Bundesliga behind as well. Hope you guys go far in the CL. Tuchel seems to have finally arrived proper. :)

If not for Bürki the game would have ended 5-4 for Dortmund. They showed defensive problems that a team like Bayern or any other top team in Europe would expose pretty ruthlessly. So despite all the goals they score atm they are still far from 100% stable or even dominant. Great team to watch though.

Yes, we got still a lot of work to do. But its the begining of the season, with a whole new team, so iam glad about the current situation.

If not for neuer... You get my point. :)

Without that offside goal that marked the 3:1 you never know how it would have ended. The minutes before that goal were totally Wolfsburg's and the momentum had shifted. If Wolfsburg would have made the second goal and not Dortmund that third I think that Dortmund would have lost. Like this they caught Wolfsburg absolutely on the wrong foot and the 4:1 soon followed.

It's a promising sign for Dortmund though that they're capable of taking the game into their own hands again after a bad spell during the match. They do have to minimize the amount of times that the opponent gets the upperhand on them. Bayern is still far better in that aspect.

In general? Probably. Under Ancelotti in this league season so far? Not really. They were pushed on the backfoot for lengthy periods in their two last games by Ingolstadt and Schalke respectively. Infact, they won both games out of the same reasons we did yesterday: High quality in the offense, outstanding performance by the GK and the opponent failing to capitalise on clear cut chances.

I don´t see neither team as super stable right now, which is understandable given the current circumstances of both teams.

Harsh result for Wolfsburg and Dembele was offside for his goal. They dominated after BvB weNT 2-0 up and should have at least equalised. Dortmund looked poor in large spells and their positional structure was extremely weak for large spells so they were not able to create numerical superiroities consistently.

Gladbach gifting Leipzig an early goal. Ffs, are the cans actually going for the top third in their first season?

Btw, is there some kind of fan protest in Leverkusen? Their fairly small stadium is half empty...

And what the heck is going on with Bayern´s pitch? It gets worse and worse....

The non stop rain recently hasn't helped...

So it did? In the northeast it was pretty much just sunshine the past few weeks :)

EDIT: But now that you say that, I remember seeing some depressing pictures from the Wiesn in the news...

Ribery summoning his inner George Best and Jay Jay Okocha! What a fecking goal :lol:

So I just switched to the Schalke game for 10 minutes to see how they are doing. My god are they dreadful going forward. They are now 300 minutes in the league without a goal and I see why.

The "Wiesn" is always depressing...
@Piratesoup: Didnt they do something against it since the flood years ago?

Against the big ones, yeah, but there's lots of places that can experience smaller floods (resulting in blocked streets and such)

Ribery is playing fantastic football today and our midfield looks worlds better than against Ingolstadt. Thiago's playing better than I've seen him in a long time.

Thank god Arranguiz failed to convert the pen. What a joke of a decision that was. Is it now enough to just jump into the defender to get a pen in the Bundesliga?

OK, now things get really interesting at Schalke. Dead last with only a single goal scored and without a point. How long can they keep things calm at a club who loves a good meltdown and panic mode.

What the hell is up with Schalke? This is about as bad as the last season (first half) of Dortmund under Klopp.

Pablo :cool::cool::cool:

feck me, that was a close one. Our makeshift midfield didn't work out, so we were sluggish for much of the game. Then we threw the kitchen sink at them and fortunately it worked out for us.

Schalke´s next game is by the way in Gladbach, which is probably the third toughest away fixture in the calendar. Things are looking really really grim for them.

It's amazing to see Ribery back at his best again. Didn't expect him to reach such a high level again after his endless injuries. He just needs to stay healthy for the season.

I have very mixed feelings about this. I mean it's great to have them on the pitch and scoring once more. But then we have been trying to replace them for the last three years, yet it seems they are still our most dangerous wingers.

We haven't tried to replace them at all... we signed some future potential replacements last season, that's all.

Dembele doing really well so far. What a talent. Just needs more accuracy in his crossing but his pace and close control is excellent.
