Bundesliga 2016/17

That was hilarious  I didn't hear it first because ARD had only her mic and the music on their volume but at the end when they were fading out you could hear all those whistles hahaha.
What the hell did they think? Did they want to turn it into a little Super Bowl? Pathetic.

I don't get it. Why shouldn't they celebrate the last game of the season like a little superbowl? Why not? I am german, but as someone like Fergie i would probably just say "typical germans" right now ...

Well because most people don't see a crap music act with no connection to the sport event whatsoever as a "celebration" but rather another pointless commercialization. And before I get the standard "Wah, hypocrise hipster reason, what about sponsors etc" answer: Only because certain levels of commercialism have been accepted, it doesn't mean that one can't reject crap like this. A football match should be about football, nothing more. And going by the reception, it seems the majority within the stadium agreed with that.

I don't mind a bit of a half time show, but Helene Fischer is universally hated by probably 95% of German football fans. Why have her sing and not a more neutral music act? It was obvious what would happen to her on stage, so whoever had the brilliant idea of signing her for the gig should be fired.

How does this German promotion relegation work? Bottom team goes down, 2nd bottom team players 2nd top team from tier below?
Bottom two teams of Bundesliga get relegated. Top two teams of 2nd Bundesliga get promoted.
3rd last of Bundesliga plays 3rd placed of 2nd Bundesliga in a two legged promotion/relegation knock out (i.e. Wolfsburg vs Braunschweig).

Away rule counts - so Braunschweig would now need 3 goals. My like for Braunschweig's promotion went away throughout the match because of the behaviour of their fans...
Wolfsburg are also pretty shitty. They forbid their women's team, who just won the double, from celebrating because the men's team have these games. Celebrations are set to be in September which is only about 4 months after the wins.

Do you disagree with their assessment of Mario Gomez? ;)

Yes, Gomez ist one of the nicest players in football. That is his problem... - in my eyes he is too soft too really be top... (there is this rumour with Schweinsteiger's ex - that he could not leave his pants on - but that is still a rumour and no paper has ever touched that topic)

Big celebration for a minor branch (and even with their success the womens' team and women football still is) when the big branch has its biggest tragedy since they exist... - it is not great but somehow understandable... - maybe they celebrate now both - not to go into 2nd league (okay, still some minutes to early) and the womens' success...

Wolfsburg's coach Jonker took over the training for our offensive players during van Gaal's time at Bayern... Robben cutting in, Lahm overlapping, Müller crossing the path behind - in all variations...

Good night.

But Yeah....BTSV just not good enough....

Great atmosphere tonight, mostly due to supporters' hatred of Gustavo....Guy next to me almost unable to speak by the end as he'd shouted so many insults at Gustavo as loud as possible - understandable.

Must have been hard there.

Everyone reporting it right now.

Tuchel revealing his sacking himself on Twitter (a rather reliable journo claimed to have verified the account via his agent) half an hour before Dortmund's bosses arrived at their offices really shows his relationship to them and the club in a nutshell.

edit:

now (half an hour after Tuchels tweet ) official:

I want Tuchel to stay in the league. Leverkusen needs a coach, would be amazing to see what Tuchel can do with their squad.

Could this be the beginning of the demise of Dortmund?
I am a bit sceptical whether they'll find the right replacement that can continue the transformation of the team.

I think Favre will do quite well in Dortmund. I'm pretty sure he's their new coach.

I don't see why it should be. Dortmund's biggest and most reliable asset has "always" been their scouting, their ability to produce one class player after another. And as far as coaches go I think Favre should be at least a very solid option. A bit more organization surely would not have hurt their league campaign this season.

I thought that it was interesting, yesterday on Lequipe one of Monaco's execs described Dortmund and Leipzig as their equivalent and competitors when it comes to transfer policy. He also mentioned the inevitable ups and downs that went with it.

That's hardly a revelation, they all try to improve by developing players.

I thought that it was interesting because according to him, Dortmund, Leipzig and Monaco are really high on young players list, to the point that sometimes agents and players offers their services despite the interest of bigger clubs.

I do think that they have a unique set of players. Will the manager have the same idea and the capacity to deal with that?

Based on the past I do think that "recruiting" the best players or managers was not something Dortmund excelled at. They've become better in that area once Klopp came in. There was the opportunity to walk the same road with Tuchel. They have decided against it for whatever reason. Will they go for a manager who will be cast in the same mould as Tuchel/Klopp and will they find him?

Julian Nagelsmann is the right coach to succeed Tuchel but his work at Hoffenheim is still unfinished and he is in a no rush to change clubs so no chance there.

I think when looking at the time before Klopp people too often forget where Dortmund were coming from. It's not exactly easy to hire good coaches and players when you're stuck in midtable and have zero financial muscle because you just narrowly escaped bankruptcy.
And Tuchel wasn't exactly a Klopp clone, he took what was left to him and evolved it with a more dominant idea of playing football. This season it seemed like he overdid that a bit with defensive stability suffering in the process, so replacing him with someone like Favre, whose style is perhaps more balanced seems like a logical next step to me.
