Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

I am completely unqualified to make a judgement as I barely know the player, but for some reason I get strong Mkhitaryan vibes from this transfer.
Mkihi was brilliant with Dortmund as was Kagawa from what I have seen him and @SportingCP96 would know alot more than me , they are a bit different but very good at picking a pass and Scoring a goal or two . Unfortunately if he does come here he will be likened to Mhiki even though imo opinion they are very different players

It's very odd that we arent tying up the Longstaff transfer, assuming of course he is Ole's choice. Leicester bought Newcastles star player out of the blue it seemed. If he wants him it should be straight forward to wrap up.

I read Ole wants this wrapped up before pre season starts I think. I imagine this will be done soon

There’s something very odd about Dortmund - never before have so many players peaked there, only to flop so badly elsewhere in what should be their prime years; Sahin, Subotic, Kagawa, Mkhitaryan, Gotze, even Hummels (Gundogan is not the same player he was there either, but you can give him the benefit of the doubt given his injuries).....there may be some very interesting ‘nutritional guidance’ being administered there.

I genuinely just think they're a well drilled system team. Greater than the sum of their parts, so to speak.

I think Reus and Sancho are the exceptions. They've both got more obvious individual talent. Felt at the time they were talked about a lot on here that Kagawa, Sahin, Mkhi were players that just looked better at Dortmund.

Haven't these people heard of a telephone? Why would they need to travel in person to gather proposals?

I have this image of this Pinho fella standing on street corners wearing a sandwich board with Fernandes' face on it trying to drum up buyers
All bribery and corruption is done face to face. Any cash in hand etc

Also its rumoured that Woodward daughter's wedding has happened this week. Its customary for him to listen to offers and not refuse them.

Of course he would. RedCafe at it's best - you're either Messi or Andy Carroll.

Don't be silly. Leaving a big club doesn't automatically mean you're going to succeed at a lesser club. Cleverly, Walcott, Welbeck etc. All were in the England squad, and are all struggling at lesser sides.

I don’t care how long other deals drag on for , I hope we go absolutely balls deep for this one. He would add many goals and assists to midfield and could be that player that stops us relying on Pogba so heavily.

Not convinced.

He's rarely under serious pressure and some of the goal keeping is poor.

With the higher standards of goal keeping and defending in PL how many of those goals go in?

Have we learned nothing from the Depay situation?

Cleverley isn't struggling at lesser clubs (i mean it depends on what you mean by lesser clubs). He is playing at very respectable level in PL. He was regular for Watford before getting injured. From 2016-17 (Since they signed) to 2017-18 he was regular starter for them and then he was injured. Started 2018-19 with injury and missed nearly half of the season.

He was injured many times and still played 22 league games for Everton in 2015-16

Welbeck is just tragic case, he was injured all the time and he didn't move to lesser side.

Walcott is first team player for Everton. Played 37 league games last season.

They played for top teams and then were not good enough, they are playing for midtable teams in PL.

Most of them.

What should we have learned from Depay?

He won't get that much time and space at all and a lot of those long rangers are saved by premier league goal keepers.

Depay scored loads of goals in the Eredivisie and looked amazing in you tube videos but I had doubts he'd cut it for the same reasons.

The whole Fernandes thing seems to be drummed up by the Portugese press anyway and its doubtful United are in for him at all.

Thing is, we never play with a serious CAM position and always rely on fast wingers as our plan A and plan B.

Also I suspect we bought him for commercial reasons.

Why didn’t that apply to Eriksen in the Eredivisie then? Or Ronaldo in Portugal for that matter? You can see the sharpness in his game, and his level hasn’t dropped when he’s played better teams.

His agent must like travelling over and back to London every day if we are to believe all reports. This deal should have been done a long time ago.

Can somebody provide a single piece of evidence that we actually have an interest in this guy?

I'd like to believe we will sign at least 2 midfield players since we have let go of two and have to replace another one. He's the only one linked with long staff.

I'm not sure why you are bring up either player to be honest.

Ronaldo was 18 and everyone could see he had potential to be something special. Eriksen was the cheapest of the Bale batch and fairly unheralded at the time wasn't he?

United have a pressing need for at least two top quality midfielders, hence my concern.

I've not seen Fernandes play but I thought he hadn't really set the world alight in the Europa league or for Portugal. I'm open to be corrected.

Either way It all seems a bit like Gaitan all over again and I doubt United are interested.

No.

He is quality. It's quite obvious. Not sure why when we're linked with someone who breaks the goals scored as a midfielder record, there are doubts about his quality. I guarantee if any other team was linked with him and we weren't people would ask why we're not going someone with obvious qualities we need.

Someone on another social media platform saying that they've started to follow Bruno on Insta. And all he ever posts about is football, family, football, some sponsorship stuff, family and football.

This is the kind of attitude we need at the club.

The same reason you're bringing up Depay. You can't pick and choose your comparables only when they convenience you.

Those who have seen him play beg to differ.

Not really. I brought up Depay because in the video posted I saw similarities in a player, clearly better than those around him, scoring goals against poor keepers when given time and space.

If you've seen him play and are convinced he can make the step up and improve United then that is fair enough I won't disagree with you.

If we are not in for Bruno, then seriously, who were our 2 senior MFs that Ole said he wanted to sign?
Can't include Longstaff, because he isn't a senior player and is one for the future, so who are these 2 senior players that Ole referred to?

Not sure if real or not. But I saw a picture of Fernandes in a United shirt through a camera lens doing an interview. It was on bleachers report. Didn't want to post it on the transfer since it might be completely bs.

Yeah it’s ‘shopped from a Daniel James video

But you were more willing to buy Felix I am guessing who did worse then Bruno did last season? The quality in Portugal is not as bad as made out to seem especially compared to Holland.

Its true. If he is not posting about his daughter then he is posting about training and football in general. After all that happened last summer he even showed face and talked to and responded to comments of fans on his page who quite frankly wanted to rip his head off. He never hid away and showed face and when he was not playing well was the first to admit it.

A lot of those goals would go in against a majority of keepers.

It's baffling to see the amount of people putting down the Portuguese League in here when you guys had consistently produced world class players.

Before France got Arab money we were the consensus 5th best league in the world. Consistently did well in the CL and Europa league with multiple finals semi finals and quarters in the CL. Add to the fact this is a defensive league every team sits back and make it hard to break them down. Usually very bleak scores of 1-0, 2-1 etc. The Dutch league constantly has 5-5, 4-3 sort of games (no disrespect) so that’s why when Depay was coming through there were questions about his inflated numbers.

Look at most top teams and you will see some one from the Portuguese league there. Madrid,United,City,Barca, Juve, atlético, Bayern etc.

I have always liked to see Portugal do well in internationals.
They produce good players. But sometimes too defensive.

If they are more adventurous, they will be one of the favourites for the WC.

I reckon when/if pogba leaves we get him otherwise we won't.

If he comes in, Pogba is off. I can see us going for Bruno, Longstaff, Maguire and Ben Yedder and then sell Pogba and Lukaku after having spend on replacements
