Bruno Fernandes | United not interested due to doubts over passing ability

I'm not quite convinced by him. Another poster mentioned we just renewed Mata and have plenty of 10s in the squad (Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Sanchez, Gomes).

He also seems to like to try speculative shots from range which gave him great goal numbers. However, looking closer at some of the goals I would guess about 20% were due to the poor goalkeeping standards in the Portguese league and him moving to the EPL would see a dramatic dropoff in his goals, which is his main drawcard.

That's a weird clause. Can we use it to threaten Sporting with it? Like if you don't accept our bid we will keep making the same bid and make you pay Bruno multiple times until you are bankrupt?
It is only applicable 1x

Its made to seem that the Portuguese league is some sort of pub league which it really is not . We have been a top 5 league for a while before France got rich arab money. It also is not like holland where there are 5-0 5-5 games every other week.

Another story on sky sports website linking us with Bruno. Agent apparently in the UK. For the pedants I read it on sky sports website, its a report and they only mention unnamed Portuguese sources. They have another video report on there also, again linking the same source but also mention Sporting expecting it to be the biggest sale in their history.

It's hotting up on this one I think.

Any actual reliable links to this?

Portuguese media has been using us for years to drum up interest in players. We seem to be linked to Sporting and Benfica players every summer.

Only that sky sports understands the agent is in the UK and that the Sporting boss has had talks with Bruno and expect him to be the biggest sale in their history if it goes through.

Im not sure we are going to sign this guy . He is linked to Liverpool as well and i think that is what they need . Goals from midfield ! I can't see him and Pogba playing in the same team so if he arrives I reckon it's because Pogba will leave . Maybe I'm wrong it's just a hunch

Wasn't Bebe quite good in that league?

How would this guy do playing the Firminho role?
He plays as the striker, but always drops deeper into the 10 position which brings in to play Mane and Salah as their main goal scoring threats.

It would require Shaw and Wan B to push forward and provide the width

If there's a clause for his release and he wants to go why would it be the biggest sale in their history? Surely one of the main benefits of this signing would be the price?

There isn't.

The clause is only if they reject a bid of over 35m euros, they have to pay Fernandes 5m directly.

It doesn't mean they have to sell him cheap.

We definitely need some midfielders so our defenders are not always exposed. He is one of the many players linked with us and some have already gone.

Maddison is playing in a better league, tougher opponents yet still managed to score as much as pogba from open play and led the key passes stats. Bruno on the other hand flopped in Italy, put on sale by Genoa and no one wanted him there. Oh nani was tearing the portugese league before he moved to valencia and lazio and look at how that turned out.

Maddison strikes me as the kind of character we should be avoiding. Heard too many stories that say he's a bit of a twat with a sh*t attitude.

Haven't these people heard of a telephone? Why would they need to travel in person to gather proposals?

I have this image of this Pinho fella standing on street corners wearing a sandwich board with Fernandes' face on it trying to drum up buyers

Bruno has a bloody good agent to have negotiated a deal like that for him...!!

He terminated his contract isn't it, then signed new one. Maybe wrong here.

@SportingCP96 that's correct isnt it? Bruno terminated his contract after the training fiasco and then signed new one.

Yes you are correct. He was one of those involved in that.

Bebe didn't even made a single game in Primeira Liga before joining Man Utd. He was bought by Guimarães from lower divisions, and suddenly Man Utd hire him out of the blue just a month after he signed for Guimarães. We barely knew who the feck was he here in Portugal.

His best season was a loan to Paços Ferreira where he scored 13 goals in all competitions, so his numbers were never nothing special. Benfica hired him to use him in trade deals or as a backup, never meant to be a first team player.

With that said, he's not a terrible player. He's been playing in La Liga at bottom teams consistently, which shows he's actually capable of playing professional level.

 The Legend of Bebe

I don’t care how long other deals drag on for , I hope we go absolutely balls deep for this one. He would add many goals and assists to midfield and could be that player that stops us relying on Pogba so heavily.

Brilliant and now we get to look forward to another outrageous introductory video clip...

We don't. It's clearly fake. There's no chance a player of that quality can arrive in the country unnoticed these days. There's press at every airport.

He's reporting back to Sporting today for training apparently.
