Those were feeder clubs don’t think that is the idea behind this though that is why Sporting fans hate this “partnership” (nothing is official yet) because they don’t want it to be perceived as such.

and add to this that we have 3 players in every position he can play, so very unlikely to be real, We are missing a defensive midfielder not an attacking one.
Unless Gomes proves to be fantastic, we don’t have players of such level in these positions (apart from Pogba), so he would be an upgrade.
At the same time, bringing Bruno is not as critical as signing a CB and CDM, and if CB an CDM are signed, then a RF/RW could again be a wiser use of funds.
What level is that exactly? good youtube video and a lot of press from his club? mind you he only had one good season in the Portuguese league, most likely scenario he will be like Fred.

Thing is, when it comes to the AM position, you have to put the three together to get one.
What I am saying is that other positions are more critical.
Certainly, though, he is a better goal scorer than Fred - Fred doesn’t have a good shot in him whereas Bruno does.
But if we are indeed asked for 70m, it would be better, in my opinion, to try and sign Dybala (reportedly available for 70-90, as per reports in media)
I think Bruno might be more effective in Ole's system as he is a lot more able in defensive situations and provides a lot of work-rate. Dybala seems in a bad spot and would be a big risk, in my opinion.

The most critical is Maguire (or any defender of same or better calibre - be it Varane, Koulibaly or whoever, but choice is very limited).
Then, it would be ideal to get someone in the mould of Ndombele as DM is an area where we often lose games even to mid-table teams. Can Longstaff provide that? Highly unlikely...

I’ve seen enough transfer windows to not sit on the fence with this one. I don’t think we’ll sign him because Sporting/ Portuguese media seem to be the ones trying to hype it up. Then English tabloids jump on it.
Ducker and Hirst aren’t gospel and even going by Reddit’s tier system I think there is far too much smoke blowing by poor sources for this to materialise.
Simply put nobody knows what will happen but I think I’ll be right on this one.
Dead fish in the water I am afraid. I just hope in case we are not getting another midfielder we will see more from Fred instead of Matic.

All potential CM options and I think the club are going to give Fred another season to prove himself. I’d love to see Fernandes arrive but i just can’t see it now.
If you add Pepe to that list, it would be a fantastic summer, hoping they can move Rojo, Darmian, Jones and Lukaku.
Surely Matic is first choice whenever fit regardless? We're showing no signs of wanting to replace him with a similar player of that pedigree. Fernandes doesn't affect Matic either way

I swear, everyday of this transfer window there is some story about us preparing a bid for him. It's like the tabloids just rehash the same story using different headlines. I doubt we are actually interested in him or we would have signed him by now.
Doesn't look like we are all that into anyone mate. We know the price of everyone that we are supposedly interested in but won't pay the money. Think it all depends on who we sell and for how much. Pogba and Lukaku being the ones with most interest, and would fetch over 200 million.

I think this is a common issue a lot of fans have. Just because a player is from a weaker league a player gets overhyped due to good performances or underhyped as he is "playing in a weaker league"
The reality is we have to trust the scouts opinions on whether Bruno is good enough and can adapt to the premier league.
It's never a certainty when you sign new players from foreign leagues but there are plenty of examples of players who made it from Portugal (Bernardo Silva, Ricardo Carvalho, Ronaldo, Nani etc) just as there are examples of players who didn't live up to the hype.
It's definitely not fair to say he will most likely be like Fred (who in my opinion we should judge on this season rather than last) but as with any transfer there is risk involved. We just need to calculate whether the fees and wages make it worth taking the risk

You're right we're not and that's depressing as getting Matic out of the team ASAP is in our absolute best interests in my opinion.

You have no real evidence to back that up, though.
Also, Pogba is not exactly attracting endless interest from any other top team; other than rumours. He is a lazy show pony. I see it week in, week out, and you are pretty much guaranteed he will vanish against the top teams (and many other teams for that matter). It is obvious to see that he has an extremely weak mental capacity.
I have been watching football for over 40+ years, 12+ years live at OT, and Pogba is easily one of the most overrated players we have had here.

If we do get priced out of our 2 main targets that is Woody fault for leaving it so long. He could possibly think that by waiting he is going to get them for cheaper but the flipside of that that coin is that the longer that we leave it towards the ends of the window, teams can ask extortionate prices as they know we are desperate, also by leaving it this late we are giving or selves less time to get in alternative should we have one in place who may or may bot be as good as original target and will also be overpriced.
Preparing a bid takes at least 2 months.

I still think we'll manage to sign Maguire and Bruno. But we need to move fast. The fact that no one else is willing to pay as much as we are will work in our favour.
He is being a good soldier and not complaining in public, I am sure behind closed doors he is telling Ed to get a shift on with at least a couple more signings. He also needs to do his PR part for the transfer team, if he is sitting there saying we have to get new signings it supports the idea that we are desperate and can be extorted for more money by selling clubs.

I hope you are right with the point in bold, as I think that if we don't sign a few players top 4 is going to be extremely hard to get. Woody needs to do something special in the next 2 weeks it's going to be an even harder season, than it already will be.
