Or a valid point about how we handled transfers, we are no where near being efficient and it would be nice if we had planned something for Jan way before the window opened given the need. To be fair we did try with Haaland, but I believe midfield was more pressing
Either way he couldn't play before January anyway whoever we buy. Hopefully we will buy him but complaining about negotiating is a bit strange. Especially when many would complain if we just have them the money they're asking right away.

hes looked pretty decent every time ive seen him play. And his stats for Sporting and Portugal are impressive, blow away majority of any of what we currently have playing
Yeah. That wouldn't be difficult though. Two gas beens in Mata and Matic and Two never will be in Lingard and Pereira! We are a laughing stock. These four are amongst the poorest midfielders in the PL. Why are they still at the Club?

Haggling makes no sense now because Bruno is worth £60m. A cheaper #10 would be Uruguayan Giorgian de Arrascaeta who plays for Flamengo. But we're not after the cheaper player; so we should pay the £60m to £65m they want. Plus: we need Bruno ASAP.
Woodward will haggle all month, then pay full whack at the last minute. It's a joke!

Woodward is known for failing to negotiate and coughing up the asking price whenever time is tight. It is the worst of all worlds paying full price and losing bedding in time for the player.

Cmon, grown ass men. Get your head in game, people who work on those deals will get everything sorted soon.

I don't think this transfer was meant to happen now in Jan, hence the last minute negotiations. I firmly believe it was meant for next summer.

It's only because Ole is about to play the tea lady in midfield that we've had to bring it forward.

It'll probably be announced by the weekend.

You realise we have played games already in January right. Complaining about the way we negotiate is not strange unless you look through the lens of this deal alone.

I don't understand why people want to rush this deal through?

He's not going to be ready for the game at Anfield and you will beat Burnley without him, so he will be ready for your February league fixtures, which is when you will need him.

Jesus loaning Pereira out and keeping Lingard/Mata would be just like us. Terrible decision when Bruno gets injured next month if we do sign him.
Do you not realise clubs must agree to certain players and those players must agree to go? Silly question perhaps because going by your post you don't.

Thats a pretty silly point to make, if we feel Pereira is the better player to keep than the others its irrelevant, he should not be in the conversation

Re Woody on train to Paris
Have heard a whisper that he was meeting CEO of Athletico Madrid who was also in Paris for business reasons

I’m in team haggling. Haggle them to shite, we were already generous towards them with the Rojo deal years back, and while we could do with another midfielder Bruno isn’t exactly prime Zinedine Zidane.

It’s so disgusting how we’ve been taken to the cleaners for just about every transfer since SAF and Gill retired.

At the time we paid more for Ander fecking Herrera and Fellaini than Real Madrid paid for Modric and Kroos, and then some people wonder how we’ve ended up in the mess we’re in today.

Wow! I must say all these Tweets and quotes today are really positive ! Must be a slow news day or the the ITKs have run out of bullshit to tweet

Bruno doesn’t have to be zidane. He has to be better than what we have.

I disagree on the last point. We’re in a mess because several managers identified and bought bad players. We could have had Kroos

The point is between the summer and now is when these things should have been resolved. Not whilst the window is open

Give poor old Ed a break, mate. We've only been interested in the player for at least 6 months and he needs to prepare the bid. He's not even sure the window is open yet.

Player wants to come here
His club want to sell him
Ole wants the player
We need the player
Reported price not outrageous
We're fecking rolling in money

Just need to make sure terms are right. Just right. And when we think it's all right, we'll try to throw in one of our useless cnuts in to lower the price a bit. Don't want to get ripped off. Liverpool don't get ripped off.

And our current manager decided to let go of two midfielders without replacing even one of them.

If the club don't get Bruno or another midfielder of similar quality done in Jan it really has just gone beyond a joke.

And our current manager decided to let go of two midfielders without replacing even one of them.

He had every intention of replacing them, but Woodward pulled a Woodward and failed to finalize the deals.

You can't hold Ole responsible for everything.

Your two paragraphs contradict. If a player is better than what we have but still a bad player then should we get him or not?

I vaguely remember Moyes stating he would’ve made the Kroos deal go through if he hadn’t been fired. He was also pictured at some Bundesliga games with the agent of Kroos that year so he might not be lying about that one.

As for midfield transfers, you’re right that Bruno is better than what we have. But it’s the same type of logic as me saying that what United actually should try to do in order to become succesful again, is getting better players than Liverpool and City have (or better players than Real, Barca, PSG, Bayern for that matter). Is Bruno such a player?

£10m is feck all compared to the loss of revenue from not making the Champions League. And due to our failure to sign the midfielder/s we need in the summer, that's where we're at.

£10m is not feck all. Just isn’t. We can’t keep getting rinsed for players. I understand that we shouldn’t risk losing a player we really really need for a few million but money isn’t an infinite commodity.

They are however we take far too long as we saw in the summer

I negotiate for a living. I only negotiate for land and it’s complicated. sometimes it can be wrapped up quickly sometimes not. Imagine trying to negotiate for players and all the variables both personal and club level. I don’t envy people trying to broker deals with clubs and agent and players. We don’t know exactly what goes on behind the scenes.

I know Woodward perhaps isn't the best but he also seems like a very easy target

Of the clubs looking at Top 4, Liverpool have signed one player and Spurs have loaned a player
Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester, City nothing

Are they all also badly run, or do deals in the 10's of millions perhaps take a week or 2 to sort out?

Correct decision to let go of Herrera as there was no way we were going to give him anywhere close to 300k a week

I mean, Nearly all of the clubs you named are above us.

This

Those same posters who criticise us giving new contracts to Jones, Mata etc then trot this line out when as lovely as he was and he tried hard, not the sort of player to get that contract at 27/8

He does have some temper

It may sound silly but I would love half of our existing players to have this bit of fire in their belly. Better than having no character at all, I want somebody with a bit of crazy, somebody who will kick a few players and get his teammates in the mood for a feckin war. Like the Arsenal games of yesteryear.

Oh they will... unless it’s something positive.

Joking aside its crazy how people think anybody, Ole included, would intentionally sell players without expecting to replace them.

Ed should take the blame for only spending £75 mill net in the summer, if Ole held the purse strings I’m positive we would have spent a lot more (as would anybody in the managers position with the rebuild we need.)

You are not the only one who negotiates. Anyway it is clear as a club we are not good at it. We have years of evidence which shows this

Yes it would but the club has a value they're willing to go to and if that value is less than Sporting are willing to sell for then its about finding the middle ground, and in any case only a moron would turn up and pay (or accept) the first price quoted!

And in steps Ed.

Pay whatever it takes; he’s miles better than Lingard! £10 million is nowt. Woodward ruining them deals again...”

“We can’t keep getting rinsed by every club in the world. Our transfer business has been terrible and we always overpay!”

Ed Woodward. Matt Judge. Whoever the poor cnut is who finalises transfers. They can’t really win in the end. You’ve just got to sit back and hope the guys the club brings in play well. Economic savvy is only apparent in hindsight, really.

I didn't say £10m was feck all, I said it was feck all compared to the loss of revenue from not making the Champions League again. Which is factually correct.

If we sign a player who can improve a position that's been sorely neglected, it improves our chances of qualifying. We're not making top 4 without signings in midfield, so if we risk losing out over a few million, we're just shooting ourselves in the foot.
