Rashford and Martial will love playing with him if he signs because he will be constantly looking for their runs and not just passing it sideways like all our other midfielders (other than Pogba) He's like a turbo charged version of what Mata was supposed to be.
Add the obvious goal threat and bags of stamina and we should be onto a winner here. I just hope something is actually happening and I'm not just getting excited over nothing. Again.

There has never been an example at United where a player comes in in mid-season and kick on. They will be spotty at best and then really start to kick on only after a summer.
But this summer is bad since most of our quality players will be away for the Euros. So, I imagine him to have some major, consistent impact only after 18months ie after the 2nd summer.

When Fernandes played in Serie A, he didn't seem remotely special. Sampdoria sold him for less than £9m, in the summer of 2017. He started 79 matches in Serie A, scoring 15 goals with 14 assists (he took 2 pens, scoring one, direct free-kicks, indirect free-kicks and corners). His shot map for his last 3 seasons in Serie A is towards the bottom of https://understat.com/player/1228 - 4 goals from outside the box, 26 shots saved from outside the box, hit the woodwork once from outside the area, 52 off-target shots from outside the area, 24 blocked shots from outside the area. So it took over 100 shots from outside the area to get 4 goals in Serie A. If anything, PL keepers are likely to be superior to those in Serie A. Spectacular goals in Liga NOS might simply result in a PL keeper conceding a corner.
If you look at Lingard's productivity in CL, PL, Europa League and domestic Cup competitions during his time at United, you will find that his output is noticeably better in the Europa League compared to CL and domestic Cup competitions relative to the PL. Even when he has been struggling to have an impact in PL matches, he has been able to get goals and/or assists in domestic Cup games. Drop down a level and it is easier to score and assist.
The fees being mentioned are absolutely ridiculous. There is a serious risk that Fernandes hasn't changed that much from his time in Serie A. At Sporting he takes on huge responsibility. At United he would be expected to be a team player. He will only take direct free-kicks and penalties if he is the best at them in training, and even then it might take him a while to be given the opportunity. He is not the main man for Portugal and his productivity reflects that.
This should be a modest fee, modest wages deal, or else let another club take the risk. United have a limited amount of money to spend. We need to spend it wisely. Being a better player than the current Lingard or Mata, is not a sensible justification for using £50m, possibly more.

This has quite a few points that can easily be refuted.
1. International Record: who did they assist or score against? Were they meaningless goals/assists? Lingard also has not scored for England in 2019.
2. Bruno's Serie A record: How old was he when he was playing for Sampdoria? How can you compare his stats from 3/4 years ago to now when he is in his prime?
3. Reactions to facing setbacks: Bruno is the capt of a currently terrible Sporting team and has been carrying them for 3 seasons. What has Lingard ever "carried" in his career? And to maintain his standards instead of sulking speaks volumes of his understanding of responsibilities and positive character.
There are others but I will just highlight these 3. I can't see how anyone can think that Bruno is not a big upgrade over Lingard.

Bruno is clearly a completely different performer at Sporting than he was in Serie A. Players hit their prime at different times, it's weird you are hanging on to his level from a different stage of his career to extrapolate how he would do in the Premier League.
Also if I'm not mistaken Bruno has also been experimented wrongly out of position a few times in his international career.

Not watched any YouTube or seen him play in the flesh, so I going on what I read on here. I suspect we will get a less productive player than he currently is, but his numbers are impressive.

It was every touch he had in the game. A lot of good play and a few few bad moments. Thought he looked very good in that game overall though.
Is this guy worth the prices quoted though? Probably not. But then we paid 50M for fred, and he was a meme until the past 3 months. Still hasn't justified his fee, but atleast he is showing signs that he can be a good midfielder.

Mata's last crontract was 250k/week, so savings 100K/week is a good deal in Woodward's logic. McT still has a youth level contract, will get his 100kpw in the next signing.
At the end of the day, the number is depend on their agents.
If he was to get 5 assists and 5 goals in a season for us he would instantly be better than all 3 of Mata, Lingard, Pereira.
The keeper caught both with absolutely zero effort, we're not applauding our players for that kind of shots. I'm in the unsure about Bruno's quality brigade, I hope he comes here and does brilliantly.
