Wouldn't really mind this transfer but I can't say I've ever been seriously impressed with this guy when I saw him play. He looked really good in a match against PSV this season I think, but PSV's midfield and defense are truly so bad right now there aren't even words to describe it, so I'm not sure how to rate that performance.

Honestly Bruno reminds me of Davy Klaassen in a weird way, who once captained Ajax to a Europa League final and scored plenty of goals for them. To me he really seems more of a player that Everton should try to sign for 30-40 million than a player Manchester United signs for 50 or 60 million.

There's also the fear that a panic deal like this in January would lead to funds not being available for better midfielders in the summer, but then again maybe we can work out a deal with Sporting and get him for a fair price and offload someone like Rojo. Can't really get excited about all of this though.

Question how much worse can he be in comparison to Lingard, Pereira and Mata playing in the No. 10 role?

Cash plus Rojo/Jones/Lingard would be extremely good. Maybe they want to get entire defence sorted and take both aforementioned CBs?

throw in Bailly as well and it would be the deal of the century. Although I presume we would also have to pay for a bigger treatment room at their training ground.

Bruno might be an upgrade on Lingard, but I would not expect him to have a immediate impact on the squad in January. He is going to need time to adjust to English football, so we might as well sign him in the summer. The story was that he was offered to us, but it seems more like we where used to spike up the price for Bruno, or Solskjaer did not like what he saw in the Porto-Sporting game, as this story seems pretty dead in the water right now. But maybe something will come of it next week, I dont know.

Also Lingard is not as worthless in Solskjaer eyes as we make him out to be, and will make do for the rest of the season, even though he needs long term replacing.

How does this make sense? Bring him in the summertime so he has to spend the beginning of next season adjusting? What?

Surely better to get him now if possible and let him use the remainder of this season to adjust and anyhow a non acclimatised 1 legged Bruno is better than Lingard.

Key difference has been BBC wading in on it. How reliable those BBC reports are, yet to be seen. Everything from Portgual though? I assume that's bollocks.

What BBC reports? If it’s just the gossip page, then that’s just a round up of all the newspapers, and is worthless nonsense. I’ve not seen anything that yet BBC have actually reported, unless I’ve missed it?

65 million? Yikes. This has panic buy written all over it.

But I guess it wont be the first time we got rinsed in the transfer market

don’t really see how it’s a panic buy. He will have been monitored for atleast a year now. I could imagine the board wanted to see if his form would carry over into this year and it has.

We also gave Jesse the chance to prove himself, which is something Ole mentioned. He’s failed miserably so his chance is over.

Another issue is Maddison just isn’t going to happen, they’ll demand silly money.

grealish I like a lot. But again I don’t know how much he'd cost and who else might go in for him.

I'm getting really, really impatient with this.. about to smash my computer if I don't hear any concrete news in the next 48 hours.

This reminds me of the saga's where usually the deal will be done within 48hrs, every day for several weeks.

I’m confident with this though. When the agent and the representative of the club itself were confirmed by tier 1 flied to England to negotiate with us then it’s positive progress. The difficult part here is that whether we can come to agreement with the club. If we can come into agreement with the fees, I think it’ll just matter of time until we announce it. The player’s contract is going to be easy here, not going to be like Dybala’s case because Bruno wants to leave.

Simon Stone said Fernandes' agent met us a couple of days ago.

He’s the one that’s been calling Gedson to Spurs. If that goes through, then we’ll know he’s not too bad.

Looks like this is getting done and should be a decent signing. You have to wonder why we didn’t release Mata in the summer (saving 160k per week) and sign him months ago though.
