Bruno Fernandes | Signed

I get you're trying to have a pop at the club, but you've knocked 20m euros off the price for Barca and you've highlighted 3 players we've signed that have been 3 of our better performers this season.

Strange points to make to try and beef up your argument
Is he talking about Frenkie de Jong? He was 75 million euros. That has another 10m in bonuses. That, and he hasn't exactly been setting the world alight this season.

Oh he's talking about those bollocks Bruno to Barca rumours

If we don't get this deal over the deal by Friday the Glazers and Ed Woodward might as well never turn up at Old Trafford again as far as I'm concerned.

This is almost beat-for-beat identical to what happened in the Summer.

United got described as being seriously in for him. A tier 1 AC Milan based journalist said the deal was all wrapped up. Inter and Atletico also got linked. The delays were explained away by saying that a particular match was going to be the last he ever plays for Sporting for some important reason.

I expect that before the end of the window, there are going to be links to Real Madrid (just like there were last tiime).

This is nothing more than a sequel to the opening story, with the end of the trilogy being released in the Summer. The final twist will be when he signs for Spartak Moscow.

Whichever journalist wrote the original narrative is probably earning a lot of money from their articles right now. 2019 proved it was baseless. I don't know why anybody is falling for it again.
This is what I said weeks ago.

The only thing surprising about this narrative development is that they've invented a link to Barca rather than Real. Either way, it's still bullshit.

Spartak just need to bide their time.

Doomed? Talk about exaggeration as if Bruno is the best player ever. Sporting can feck off.

We may be doomed not because we didnt sign him for 70m+ but we didnt sign anyone else despite having some money in our kitty.
I'm fairly sure they meant "doomed in the pursuit of this particular player", as opposed to doomed in general.

Which, to be fair, we might be anyway.

Can someone get him to sign United shirt? or ball with United logo?

This thread is only 221 pages, which feels like on embryo stage for the muppet transfer.

We know Ed can only work on one deal at any given time. Given his 100% effort on one deal and he can't even get that over the line in a month, we are doomed.

The fact that they are our better players doesn't mean they were worth the money paid.

The reason they all look good because the rest of the squad is so crap.

No one would have mocked 50m Euros for Bruno as being over paid.

You don't know that Bruno is worth the money being touted. Nobody mocked at Fred when we first signed him, but after a poor first 6 months, he was talked about as the worst PL signing ever.

50m Euros is £42m for Portuguese player of the year for 2 seasons. I am sure if you go back £50m for Fred was alot of money. Considering in the same window Fabinho was signed for less.

He has been excellent the last 2 years and is an established Portugal international. For the kind of money Sporting want you would be hard pressed to get anyone better, Especially when you don't have a scouting system like our club don't.

The hilarious thing will be when Woodward goes to Leicester in Summer and is quoted £100m for Maddison and £70m from Villa for Grealish. We will get the usual line 'the other club is making negotiations difficult'.. We will then only sign Grealish once Pogba is sold.

Maybe im misrreding your point but this post is the perfect rebuttal to your own argument.

I'm not saying we shouldn't pay it - I'm also not against the transfer. I do have reservations about how good he'd be - But we need something so i'm all for it.

I'm just pointing out that slagging off the signings of 3 of our better performers this year probably wasn't the best argument to make. And the argument of "we spent loads on this guy so why not do it on this one" has so many holes in it.

He's been busy.

Ordered a discount Sander Berge of DHgate but when it arrived this morning it was obviously a fake. He's on the phone right now to a man in Taiwan trying to get a refund.

To be honest it's all irrelevant anyways. There is no money.

Only reason i cant see him being signed is that Ole is getting the bullet at the end of the season. Probably saving the money so that another manager can spend it. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Since Scholesy retired the club have allergic reaction to attacking midfielders, with Pogba and Gomes also tipped to leave.

Why do we even enter negotiations if we can't complete one single deal...

Why can't we just do things simply and quickly? Why does it always have to turn into a huge saga EVERY damn time.

Yes, I understand that and maybe I did not word my point correctly.

I get that the club doesn't want to over spend on players and want to avoid the past. However; in the past it's not just the fee but the wage that has affected us.

In respects to Bruno. in an ideal world if we had everyone fit and a few better players, I don't think the fans would mind us sticking to our guns and saying no this is the max we will pay.

However; given the state of the club, its a matter of bodies and for the quality we are looking for, a creator who can score too - he has done that in that league. Not saying he will in the PL.

Spurs have made Le Celso permanent for £55m and he hasnt done much yet.

Come the summer we will be in for a creator if we don't bring anyone in and I can guarantee that Maddison and Grealish will both cost at least £60m starting price. Leicester will not want to sell, prob want £100m.

The so called biggest club and one of the richest quibbling over at most £10m. For a player that hops into our first team.

Again.

We need to stengthen in midfield more than Spurs. The money Sporting are asking is not unreasonable against the likes of Le Celso and Fred FFS. The overpaying argument is a non-issue.
Unless you havent got the money.

The Glazers have tightened the purse strings and we now only have around £70m per season for Transfers is the real reason.

Ed be like

Meanwhile when we have been moaning about the Bruno Fernandes saga that is getting less amusing as time passes, Spurs have signed a winger, a midfielder, made one mid permanent though Erikssen left, absolutely shambolic attempt from United to get into top 4, it felt that it would be difficult, now seeming impossible given skinny squad depth :/

This is undisputed fact, too. Our past two transfer windows (summer windows) have followed this to a tee, net spend of around £70m. I don't know how anyone can be fooled anymore into thinking this rebuild is realistic when we can basically afford 1 x top-class first teamer each summer (and will inevitably have a couple leaving in that window too). It's not a rebuild, it's settling into midtable obscurity, slowly but surely. A continuous, ongoing, perpetual rebuild that never ends.

Can’t wait to see how the top reds spin this one if he goes to Barca.
