I know Judge is supposed to the man in charge of transfers but I think Woodward is still pulling the strings and saying Judge is in charge is a way of taking any pressure away from himself.
So you think we should pay 80 mil for Bruno? I don't like the owners any more than you do but then not agreeing on that price is right.

If Ed and Judge were any good at their job they'd now be saying to Sporting the top figure they're willing to pay, give them 2 days to think about it and if Sporting don't think it's enough then we go on to the next target. The problem with these 2 clowns is they don't know when to pull out of negotiations and I'm sure they don't have a plan B for another player.
Every season is the same. Remember the Cesc fiasco? All summer the club were in negotiations with Barca and once again we didn't have a plan B when that deal fell through except for signing Fellaini on deadline day for more money than what we could of got him for a few weeks earlier. Absolute joke of a club in so many departments.

Aren't we doing exactly the same thing with Pogba. Do you think he was worth 150m in the summer? And Bruno is worth far more to Sporting than Pogba is to us.

The really bad precedent is a consistent pattern of prolonged negotiations, failure to sign players to fill obvious vacancies and a sackful of players with such inflated wages that we can't move them on. The buck stops with Woodward.
I would rather spend 100m on Sancho or 90m on Madison than 60m on Bruno.

I’m pretty sure it’s the exorbitant wages that have been fecking us up financially, not transfer fees, which - as one of the 3 most profitable clubs in the world - we should be easily able to pay.
Absolutely, allowing a club to just randomly add a significant amount to their asking price is ridiculous.
All it does is tell every other club (Dortmund, Leicester for Sanchez, Maddison - hypothetically) that not only can they add the Man Utd tax but also randomly push it up even further on a whim.
Previously I’d said we’d need to accept overpaying to get players we want, but if as has been reported previously Bruno is 3rd on the list for that position then they should tell them to feck off and concentrate on 2nd and 1st on the list.
They both are tbh. Stupid wages attract mercenary players and stupid fees mean we overpay, bring a target in with a huge money burden to live up to on his head and the chance for the media to slam us for paying x many hundreds and not showing much for it.

We need to move away from these counter attacking types of players. If we truly want to play on the front foot we need people who are aimed at recycling the ball and dominating the pace of the game.
He is not what we need for that price. We offered a decent fee and they rejected it. Maddison and Havertz the club should pay big money for, not this guy. They would be better deals even at higher prices. Younger and a higher sell on fee.

I think a lot of the problem with this deal is judging from what I’ve read sporting are only going to come out with about half the fee.

I didn't mean that to sound like I was, anyone with a football brain knows how shit of an offer that is, so what's the point in offering it unless it was considered a fair one by Matt Judge? All that's done is raise the price even more so great work there.

Just a gut valuation relative to how much players in his bracket are going for at the moment, transfermarkt agrees with me at least.
