Not so sure. With the Glazers and Woodward at the top in this club, and the bad press they always get (deserved), then why should a very good player, albeit unproven in any 'big' league, sign for a club who's future is far from certain. He could be available in three years time, when he will be 22, I believe, with a lowish buy out clause, and has stated that he would love to play in the Premier League one day, and hopefully Manchester United will be in a far better position then.
Do they really take our fans for idiots? How on earth do we stand a chance of signing Sancho and Maddison when we can't sign Bruno from a cash strapped club? Leicester and Dortmund will probably be playing in the CL next season. Next year we'll come out with the usual 'ah the Euro' excuse but hey....the money is in the bank if the price is right.

Have you read the quote I quoted? They mentioned Maddison and Sancho as if we've stand a choice for those two. Also top sane clubs buy players. They don't start the season with a non existing midfield and they certainly don't linger at 5th place with a strong chance of being worse then that by the end of the weekend. Does anyone really know how much Sporting are asking, and whether add one, or player swaps are on the agenda. I've always made a point of ignoring what the media spouts, as 90+% is garbage, and unfortunately, some posters, as seen previously, fall for this garbage. We know that we need at least one new midfielder in this window, but from past transfer fails, this is far from certain, it seems that the purse strings are yet to be loosened.

Not sure why you had to have a sly dig at Ole, but anyho, Pep walked into a club with a squad full of 'experienced' players most who had won the Premier League under two different Managers only recently, all that was needed was a slight tweak, and he had a head start with that having his bud Txiki there a few years previous knowing what Pep would want when he arrived, but they still got it badly wrong, doesn't half help though if you can bin the duds of 6 months later, or in Mangala's case send him out on loan and hope everybody forgot about him, and the spend even more on their replacement, if you're expecting United to be able to do similar you're going to have a very long wait. DOF's are so last year anyway.

don’t know which point you were replying to, as there was two. City were interested in Fred, but we clearly had a free run at him at that price.
Fred has not convinced me, he was awful last season, and at least functions as a midfielder this season, but he’s not even better than Herrera.
Just because we got screwed on the Fred transfer, it doesn’t mean should should just repeat the same sort of transfer.
We are already making excuses just in case we miss out on yet another signing. But thank god the money is there to support the manager but only if the price is right. Meanwhile the manager of a supposed top team will probably continue the season without a cm

I get that and normally I’d be in agreement with you but in this instance we need to just pay the 70m-80m and get it over with. We surely don’t have such a bad rep to always get fleeced we paid too much for Maguire but AWB and James where reasonable deals. We either spend it on Bruno or debt repayments
