Hope we just walk away from the greedy bastards, maybe have a pop at jack and see if villia would be willing to sell this January
If the comment that they were willing to sell to Spurs for so much less is true, then I'm tempted to go with Ed here. Player clearly wants to come, Sporting need the money, it's at a good spot in his career - ticks a lot of boxes.
You expect Sporting to demand a lot, but if walking away is the only means for them to lower the asking then Ed kind of has to. That difference in valuation is enormous and represents a whole other player we could use.

Same but from the looks of it he might be out of our market pull ability right now. We maybe need a few Fernandes types and to start competing before we can really pull in these exceptional talents.I think we will sign him, i just think Sporting probably want a bit more guaranteed cash up front rather than in add ons. That said, how much for Havertz? Would rather we bid for him
Seems to me it's because we have money but put all our eggs into one basket transfer target, we seem to only negotiate for one player at a time during the transfer window only and we've allowed ourselves to decline as a team and trimmed our squad so much that we are desperate for new players mid season. This winds me up with selling clubs, why are we the only club to get shafted every time? They don’t do this to the likes of City who have more money than us.
Am glad that we are playing hardball and won’t be fleeced. Though would prefer this stuff is done in private and not in real time social media.
Would be great if Bruno joins, but he’s not worth losing financial credibility over.
I dont see it this way. Plans are always there but sometimes they don’t work as planned: eg our Mourinho plan didn’t work so we now have to pivot.Seems to me it's because we have money but put all our eggs into one basket transfer target, we seem to only negotiate for one player at a time during the transfer window only and we've allowed ourselves to decline as a team and trimmed our squad so much that we are desperate for new players mid season.
Basically shit planning and management from Ed and the gang create more urgency for us that other teams take advantage of.

We've just done it in the summer making Maguire the most expensive defender in the world. What financial credibility are we talking about here.
EUROS. It is £68m. Just £18m more than Fred and he gives us creativity and goals.I wouldn’t want the club paying 80m for this guy. It would do more harm than good imo.
That sounds like a truly great plan. Here we go again. As previously predicted. Sporting want £68m for Fernandes which United are apparently unwilling to pay.
But i bet we would if it was £60m.
We paid £50m for Fred FFS. And £80m for a central defender.
We've set the market. Now just feckin pay the money.
Oh boy! They better pray this doesn't fall through. May as well pitch several millions of their own money to help see the deal go throughbecause they jumped the gun massively yesterday, so they’d look ridiculous if they backtracked
Simple truth is Maddison is never a £100m player. He hasn’t even played for England yet. I wouldn’t even bother trying to sign him with that asking price.
Aren’t Spurs after him for the summer? Not every top player is heavily contested. If he was incredible we wouldn't be the only ones in for him. We're not loaded anymore either.
If that is what happens with this...fine. But it doesn't normally happen. This is going exactly the way of the summer transfers:
1. All seems going smoothly
2. Selling club not happy with structure
3. Posturing for a while
4. Both teams (mostly United) cave and the player signs.
I've still no doubt he'll sign, have a feeling it would be for more than United want though, which is the reality of where we are right now.
That’s the issue, I am not sure he will. If he does you are spot on it would be worth it. Fred was also supposed to give us something we lack in MF, and he is not even an upgrade on Herrera.EUROS. It is £68m. Just £18m more than Fred and he gives us creativity and goals.
Bayern loaned James from Madrid and have also tried to loan Zaha, Madrid loaned Hernandez from us a few years ago as well.
No assists no goals merchant. You pay a premium for creativity and goals...obviouslyThat’s the issue, I am not sure he will. If he does you are spot on it would be worth it. Fred was also supposed to give us something we lack in MF, and he is not even an upgrade on Herrera.

So just 18m more than someone else we vastly overpaid for?EUROS. It is £68m. Just £18m more than Fred and he gives us creativity and goals.
You asked a genuine question and I answered genuinely, I have no idea what original point you was getting at.So in total, 2 examples from 2 clubs in the past decade, actually 3 (Coutinho).
Both James and Coutinho were a special ones, not wanted at Madrid or Barca but no-one prepared to buy them at their price, was smart of Bayern to take the punt on both as loanees and then ship him back if they aint all that.
The point is, big clubs very rarely loan in players.
Do City loan in players?
Do Chelsea loan in players?
Do Madrid loan in players?
Bayern? Barca?
@ZenMaster Coltrane genuine question.

How did that work out ? That is a Scheduled flight, he will not be on that, if and when it will be on private jet.Theres a flight due in to Manchester at 10.45 am from Lisbon. He'll be on that. That's all you need to know.
Good job you are not doing the negotiating. Or maybe you are and that is the problem. Just do the deal!80 million Euros for Btuno Fernandes is far too much to be honest. I do like Maddison but I wouldn't pay more than £50 million for him. Not sure about Grealish either. Having said that both Maddison and Grealish are improvements on our current midfield, especially when ( not if) we lose Pogba in the summer.
Neither was Fred!right stance from Utd.
no one else is interested in the player, Sporting priced out spurs in the summer. He’s a good player, but not proven in a decent league, so we have a limit.
ExactamundoAll I would say if Spur had a bid accepted for £45m plus add ons on the summer if we were interested why didn’t we match the offer?
We needed him in the summer, we had the money yet decided to wait 4 months to negotiate. It’s poor planning which ever way you look at it.

Oh please. Just because we overpaid for Fred means feck all. He is not worth 80m be it euros or pounds. Here we go again. As previously predicted. Sporting want £68m for Fernandes which United are apparently unwilling to pay.

That price in this market is not unreasonable. Joao Felix was picked up by Atletico for £113m from the same league. And Fernandes has better numbers in that league. So just 18m more than someone else we vastly overpaid for?
If anything it shows we shouldnt sign him
